Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told they're no longer on the menu--even though they still appear on the website. Our waitress explained there's a new manager and they currently don't have access to update the online menu. The atmosphere felt cold and very empty when we arrived, so we asked for something warm to drink. The only options were Coke products, so five of us settled for simply a cup of hot water. There were nine of us total, and the food came out sporadically. We tried to wait until everyone had their meal, but the timing made it a little awkward. On a positive note, I ordered the House on Fire Jalapeño Popper Burger. It came with crispy bacon, cream cheese, and jalapeños. The menu said the jalapeños were deep-fried, though I only received soft ones. However -- the burger was cooked perfectly. I asked for medium, and it came out pink inside, which told me the patties are made fresh. My side was the homemade potato chips, but they were just dry fried potatoes without much flavor or crisp. Once everyone finally had their food, the waitress disappeared. I ended up going to the bar myself to ask for water, and was handed a plastic cup with no ice. We didn't see the waitress again until she came around with the checks. The good news is: They do take credit cards The restaurant is wheelchair accessible -- but only if the correct parking spot is open. Once the lot fills (about 10 cars), the incline makes it nearly impossible for a handicap van to park safely. My burger, fries, and cup of water came to about $15. Overall, I'm not sure I'd return. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals, but between the missing menu items, slow service, and lack of warmth in the atmosphere, it just wasn't the experience we hoped for.

The kids in the main bar kind of meander around in slow Mo. It looks like they all just learned how to pour drinks this week. I get it that they hire from the school. They should train these kids before they throw them out there like that. We were there a couple days ago on Friday night and I can't tell you how many people came up to the bar stood there for 10 or 15 minutes. The burger was well seasoned and they used fresh ingredients that added a nice crisp. The place itself is dark and definitely reminds you of a dive bar. Steak night on Fridays is not to be missed, but you'll get something good no matter when you go--burger night, wing night, or Taco Tuesday. Plus weekly and monthly chef specials that always delight. If the food is a key attraction to Frank's, their secret weapon is the staff. They're lovely people who will know your drink of choice and seem like old friends before long. I can't say enough good things about them. And if all that weren't enough, there's karaoke every Sunday night that has to be experienced to be believed. I can't say I've been anywhere else where a local parish priest belts out Frank Sinatra tunes... but that's just a Sunday night at Frank's Place on Market.

On this visit I went with the chili (which is a must with cheese and crackers), pickle fries and regular fries, and everything hit the spot. The chili was hearty and satisfying, the pickle fries were a great addition, and you simply can't beat the value. You can still come to Ray's, get plenty of good food, and leave feeling like you got your money's worth. Ray's has been a Kent institution for a reason. It's comfortable, familiar, affordable and filled with a lot of memories for me. After 50 years of visits, I'm still happy to walk through the door -- and I'm sure I'll be back again.
