My wife and I have been patients at The Baton Rouge Clinic for over 20 years. The physicians especially Dr. Paul Fitzmorris, are excellent: responsive, compassionate, and professional. The problem is the administration. After being advised to undergo an EGD on April 20, I was told to pay $228.01 upfront because my deductible wasn't met. I asked to wait until insurance processed the claim based on a prior billing error that took months to fix. I also noted my long history of paying upfront when required, including for a colonoscopy last year. This wasn't refusal; it was reasonable caution. I even offered my standard $50 copay in good faith. That was rejected. Instead, I was told I must pay at least 50% upfront or my procedure would be rescheduled. That is not flexibility, it's coercion, kind of taking advantage of a patient situation. Conditioning a medically recommended procedure on advance payment, especially for a long-standing, reliable patient, is unacceptable. This kind of rigid policy erodes trust and overshadows the excellent care provided by the physicians. When the only "tool" you have is a nurse practitioner, don't expect quality medical treatment. The BR Clinic Urgent Care used to offer quality care quickly, but that changed after the pandemic. I have been there twice since the pandemic was over, and each time I was misdagnosed. Two years ago, I sought treatment there when my appendix was about to rupture (but I didn't know that at the time). The nurse practitioner in charge ordered an ultrasound, but only on the top half of my abdomen, so the technician missed what almost killed me. At the time, I thought this bad experience was a one-off. I returned to this facility last week when I was feeling poorly and my throat was closing up. I suspected strep, so the nurse practitioner did a test, which came back negative, so she sent me home with a 3 day course of steroids. Did not do a flu test or a COVID test while I was there. As soon as I took the last steroid, the symptoms returned with some extra ones, so now I am going to an actual medical doctor for treatment. I think the quality of care I received would have been better if this facility was staffed by a medical doctor, not someone who is essentially cosplaying as an MD. The Baton Rouge Clinic itself is outstanding, so I am shocked and disappointed that their urgent care facility is so bad. Why have such a facility if it continues to offer such subpar care that people need to seek more medical treatment? The BR Clinic Urgent Care facility tarnishes the reputation of the entire BR Clinic. read more

I don't see doctors anymore because they always say the same thing and always sugar coat everything to just get their money!!! I wanted a simple testing for my facial concerns for allergy patchwork and the operator sent me to the wrong doctor. The lady told me she couldn't do what I asked because it's the wrong "department" of the clinic and dermatology does patch work. So why tf was I there. So I asked for a refund and they repeatedly said because I was in the appointment they can't credit me back my 50 DOLLARS!!!!! I'm a struggling college student and if I didn't get what I simply asked for why can't u credit me to what I originally wanted. I sat in the office listening to her so called professional advice when I've literally already tried every alternative option Dr Adrien was advising. But doctors never wanna hear that do they so I was respectful. But since I was in there for 20 useful minutes I can not get my money back so I will be disputing the charge and never going back there again thanks. Because their dermatologist I went to for a year never helped me either and they always recommend the same thing..... accutane. Took good care of a family member. Got there early so not much of a wait. The urgent care is linked with the main clinic so all of the records are linked in system. Be sure to have your prescription sent to the Albertsons next door. It was ready immediately. I was stunned and asked the pharmacist if they process the next door rxs stat and she said , yes, we know people walk over to get them... Update, came in town with what turned out to be a horrible sinus infection and an ear so clogged that I can't hear out of it. I knew exactly where to go. It was a wonderful experience. Everyone was so friendly. The doctor took the time to carefully and thoroughly listen to my symptoms. He had a very upbeat personality. Don't waste your time! They may be quick, but for good reason. They do not spend enough time examining you or prescribing the proper medications. Then, when you don't feel better days later, you are told to come back...to pay for another visit...for a diagnosis they got wrong the first time. Referred my son by family practitioner to see Endocrinologist. BR clinic schedule him with Dr Timothy Moran. Upon arrival, said the cost would be $186.98 which I paid. Upon seeing Dr Moran, he was surprised they scheduled a new patient with him because he had not seen a new patient in about 60 days as he was moving to a new practice in Houston. After spending about 15 minutes with my son and reviewing his paper work, he wrote a simple prescription and said to followup "with another" doctor in 6 months. Later, I recieved another bill for $69.68 for "balance due." One - why can't they get the cost correct? Two and more importantly, why schedule a doctor that was leaving in 30 days. I just had the worst experience at an urgent care, EVER. the NP (there are no actual doctors there) was more concerned about my "attitude" and how I was treating HIM, after literally asking me ONE question, than he was about caring for me. I was in pain and pretty irritable, and he made me feel so much worse. After a $100 copay, to see someone who isn't even a doctor, and being treated that way, I will never go back. read more

I went to the clinic on a weekend for a bladder infection that was suddenly bad. They tested me and told me I had a serious bladder infection and prescribed Cipro. I was told to follow up with my primary care physician during the week to insure it was resolved after finishing meds. They gave me test results and plenty of documentation to give to my physician. I went there for a mysterious rash on my arm. I was told they only accept my insurance if I have a referral. If I had time to get a referral, I wouldn't need urgent care. I had to pay $200 up front just for an office visit, where a dr. looked at and poked my arm for about 5 minutes then told me he didn't know what it was but he would take care of the itching. All of the employees were incredibly rude except the one who left shortly after my arrival. I haven't been to a dr. for anything other than well visits in over a decade so obviously I thought this was important enough to get treated, I didn't need to be talked down to or treated like a moron. I am a prior Blue Cross employee, so I heard lots about urgent care facilities & have used many of them. My son belongs to the Community Blue Network plan and his after hours clinic is this one (in parking lot of Albertsons) in Baton Rouge. We have been there multiple times - sometimes there is absolutely NO wait! They are friendly, they are quick & take excellent care of you. I definitely recommend these folks. read more
