We did not sign a contract and book a stay, but they charged us anyway. I do not recommend using this establishment.

1 Star Extremely…read moredisappointing experience. This property was nothing like what was advertised in the photos and was not remotely what we expected based on the listing. When we arrived, the condition of the property was unacceptable. Most concerning, the bathroom sink in our room did not have running water. Having a functioning bathroom with running water is a basic expectation when paying for lodging. The property also advertises a restaurant and ice cream shoppe, but both were closed during our stay for "maintenance." Because of the overall condition of the property and the lack of basic amenities, we ultimately had to leave and pay for another hotel. I took photos documenting the condition of the property and the issues we encountered. I have also contacted the lodge directly multiple times requesting a refund and have attempted to resolve the situation with them. I'm leaving this review because I would not want another traveler to arrive expecting what is shown in the advertising and end up in the situation we did. Please do your research and look beyond the listing photos before booking.

We usually…read morestay at the beach houses right across from Martin Bay, but we weren't able to secure any spots there, so we went with the only available area for a group of 10, and Eagle Canyon was it. Based on other reviews and the photos I was able to set my own expectations for the trip. I knew our cabin, the lily pad would be tight. But it was just my husband and two little kids. Our cabin was narrow, but still had a semi-kitchen. Mini fridge, stove up, small bathroom, and a bunk bed + full bed in the bedroom then a futon pull out. My 6'4 husband had to sleep on the futon because he was too tall for the bedroom, but that was fine by me because the bed was actually really comfy. Overall, we spent almost no time in our cabin. Our in-laws had a butterfly cabin which is very similar layout to the lilypad, and my mother and father in laws cabin was the eagle, so it was bigger. They had a full fridge so we stocked a lot of food there and they were a bit more secluded. The cabins we were in are tucked in between mobile campers so we started with a lot of neighbors and then they left over the week and it was just cabins. Now, onto the amenities, they have a general store with a lot of what you might need if you forgot some food items and drinks, including alcohol. They had beach toys and stuff for kids. The staff was SUPER nice and really friendly. The play ground was nice, they have basketballs for the court, and we enjoyed the pool, it was really perfect for toddlers not sure about teenagers. On our favorites was the pony rides on Sunday, our kids really enjoyed that. It was a really unique place to stay for 3 nights and I enjoyed getting all my steps in going back and forth. There is a trail to walk close to the beach. If you don't mind the 30 mins daily drive to the beach its a good place to stay.

We stayed in the Eagle Cabin which was very comfortable and perfect for what our family of 3 needed. The bed was comfortable and towels were very nice for a camping cabin. The only slight complaint/feedback I have was that the kitchen items could have been in better condition but it's a small cabin and understandable that they're kind of bare minimum. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the entire area and overall respect of the property and other guests. The pool wasn't exactly first class but the kids LOVED it and had a blast. Very friendly service. The location was OK- a bit of a drive (10 Minutes to the nicer beach) but we would totally stay here again and highly recommend. (I also want to add that adjusting your expectations is helpful- I looked at some of these reviews and honestly, You are signing up for a camping area in Nebraska- not the Ritz. We have been to beautiful spots and airb&bs and we're pretty picky so this was exactly what we signed up for- a fun low key family camping adventure)

Okay, so this Yelp page desperately needs to be updated with more accurate information. First,…read moreKingsley lodge is now under new ownership and the old reviews are not really applicable to the business under the new ownership. Second, it is no longer called Kingsley Lodge but Kingsley Dam Resort on their website. You can also find the same exact cabins on Airbnb. It's cheaper to book through their direct website. Don't try to copy and paste the address from their website into Apple Maps. For some reason, it reroutes you a different way. We solved this by just dropping a pin at 1510 N-61, Ogallala, NE. (Check in at the gas station) I highly recommend that the owners of the lodge update this page so that customers aren't confused like we were! Third, yes the cabins are directly across from the water. However, I would not consider it accessible for most people. My husband, toddler, and I were able to climb down the trail by taking turns in passing off our child in between the rocks. I would say most moderately fit individuals can deal with the steep climb. I don't recommend taking a small child unless you are very confident that they can handle it. With that being said, WOW it was well worth the hard work to arrive to our own private beach. It was hard to believe that we were in Nebraska and not Southern California! The cabins ARE clean, but pretty dated. By the time we paid the nightly rate, pet fee, and other fees, it came to $200 for the night. I did feel that it was worth it but I really wish that we got more bang for our buck. It is called a resort but I don't believe there are any real amenities like a pool or anything. I think there is a lot of room for progress in this area. For dinner, we went to Driftwood in downtown ogallala. (About 12 minutes away). The burgers were very good and supplied by a local beef ranch. I recommend eating there for a nice dinner. Overall, 4/5 stars. I'd say this would be an excellent spot for people that love adventure. As most of their online reviews and FB page says, the new owners are superb and are bringing this place in an amazing direction!

They were the highlight of our experience. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of options. My kids absolutely loved the waffles and the pancake maker, and it was nice to have a variety of choices available each morning. Unfortunately, there were several issues that prevented me from giving this hotel 5 stars. We stayed from Thursday through Monday, and the front desk staff consistently appeared disengaged. If they were not actively helping a guest, they were usually on their phones. We rarely received a smile, greeting, or even a simple acknowledgment when entering or leaving the property. Hospitality starts with customer service, and that was noticeably lacking during our stay. The most concerning example was during the night shift. On multiple occasions, two front desk employees were stretched out on the lobby sofas as if they were taking a nap. As a hotel General Manager myself, this would be considered unacceptable behavior and would result in corrective action. The front desk is the face of the hotel and should remain attentive and aware of guests and activity within the property. That lack of awareness became even more concerning on our last morning. An older male guest approached and spoke to my youngest child more than once when I was not standing directly beside her. The first interaction immediately gave me an uneasy feeling. Later, during breakfast, I observed him speaking to her again and asking where she lived. When I stepped around the corner, his reaction suggested he knew the interaction was inappropriate. I immediately removed my child from the situation. This experience reinforced my concern that the front desk staff was not paying attention to what was happening in common areas. Human trafficking and predators are very real concerns, and hotel staff play an important role in maintaining a safe environment. Front desk employees should be visible, alert, walking the lobby, making eye contact with guests, and remaining aware of suspicious behavior. Additionally, there was a wedding taking place on Saturday, and I witnessed the groom involved in a heated altercation with one of his groomsmen. I attempted to contact the front desk, but the phone in my room was not working. The hotel has a lot going for it, especially its cleanliness and breakfast offerings, but customer service, attentiveness, and guest safety need significant improvement. Housekeeping exceeded expectations, but the front desk team's lack of professionalism and awareness ultimately impacted our overall experience.
