We rode our bikes here on a Friday in June. Got here a little after the posted 11:30 opening time and the parking lot was full. The restaurant was packed and some people had to wait for tables. Since we had a dog, we could only get takeout and hang out in the covered patio closest to the entrance to the beach. We ordered take out from the bar window and had 4 pub tables to stand at to eat. There was a water tap to fill our dog bowl and get a cup for ourselves. Food was fast and fresh. We had a lobster roll with chips, a cheeseburger with fries and a couple sodas for $80. Food was good. Prices are on point with all the other tourist/expensive restaurants. Would have liked to sit and have a drink and some apps, but didn't feel welcome because of our dog, so we ate and took off again on our bikes. The view from the top of the beach entrance is amazing but you don't see the ocean or beach once inside the restaurant (or on the covered patio). After placing my initial review months ago. I received a response from the owner Dan M on yelp. His response was "imagine having only beach goers and nobody in the restaurant." Based on other reviews of rude service from wait staff, and reading Dan's responses to customers calling them "fibbers" etc when they write a review saying they had a horrible experience . it's clear that he doesn't care about his customers and doesn't understand that if he provided better customer service and didn't argue with potential customers online maybe he wouldn't need to make up for his lack of business with a 30 dollar "parking voucher" (that doesn't even apply to everything in the restaurant). Running a restaurant, hiring friendly staff and understanding that without customers you won't have a business clearly isn't for everyone. Instead of ignoring what the public is saying about your establishment maybe look at what your potential customers are saying about your business practices and improve and do better. read more

Goombays are immaculate , refreshing and gives you that "I'm on vacation" vibe! My husband opted for the fried oyster po boy, delish. I opted for the lobster roll, amazing. We've avoided Beachcombers for years because, frankly, it's a long ride for us and they don't take reservations so it felt like potentially wasting a day of vacation to try and get in, even with so many great reviews. We decided to risk it this year and see what happened. It was absolutely worth the drive and the very short wait. We arrived on a Wednesday for a late lunch and checked in with the hostess. We were told for outside seating it's be about 35 minutes, but they have an outdoor patio area with access to the bartender so we enjoyed a drink there while waiting. Twenty minutes later, earlier than approximated, we were seated at an outdoor table. We tried some muscles and oysters from the raw bar and ordered a few more drinks. Everything came quickly and was delicious. We ordered some clam strips and a lobster salad for lunch. The salad was amazing and the strips might have been the best I've had on the Cape all trip. Service was great the whole time - we were checked on frequently and had a number of questions about the menu answered. The view after lunch is great. The restaurant is located right on a high sand wall overlooking the ocean so we popped over for some selfies and to enjoy the water. Parking for the restaurant was $30, but in exchange you get a $30 coupon for food and merchandise. The coupon is not good for alcohol or gratuity, but they tell you that when you're parking and it's also on the coupon itself. I had been wanting to try this place for literally years, but the parking is always full but today lucked out and got a parking space. Let me just say that, if you like me, have been thinking about going here. Please save yourself the time in about 100 bucks and skip it. I first off was given the probably worse table in the establishment has nothing was available outdoors on the beach. Didn't ask to change tables just figured: fine. However, when I ordered a lobster roll at market price (today apparently was $39) I was not prepared to receive what was basically 1/2 of a lobster roll with a small bag of Cape Cod chips. I realize this is seasonal establishments, particularly in a post pandemic world, need to make their money in a short bit of time, but this was quite frankly price gouging. read more

A Cape Cod staple! Our family has visited the Beachcomber every time we've vacationed on Cape. There is a beach nearby which makes the bar/restaurant a convenient place to have lunch/dinner. The seafood is as fresh as you can get and we enjoy the grilled tuna or swordfish meals. Lobster roll is pricey but standard. The garlic mussels are a must! There is a night crowd full of concertgoers. Not our thing but it's a fun vibe. Service has generally been good whenever we've visited. A while ago there was a young Brazilian waitress who was great with our kids. Natalie was another favorite. So far we've only had one subpar service experience. Last Summer the waitress in her 30s with shoulder length hair and blonde highlights was impatient and short with our kids, who sat at another table. She behaved as if she was a cast member from the Hills, except without the looks. Overall the Beachcomber is a must see. We hope to visit a couple more times this Summer! read more

We visited Beachcomber during COVID and they were still extremely busy. They had long wait times, which you could spend looking at merchandise, or ordering drinks or limited food items to go - but this included oysters! Their cocktails and beers were good, and seafood naturally very good. It was well worth the wait to be seated - they had both indoor dining and ample outdoor dining in the back. A Holiday Weekend To Remember! Our family's experience at the Wellfleet Beachcomber far exceeded our expectations (and other reviews) We visited the Comber on Sunday, July 3rd. The beach, parking lot and waiting line were insanely packed! There was over an hour long wait to have lunch/dinner. The hosts (a red head and brunette) were very friendly. Along with the support staff, they worked extremely hard to get our large party of 12 promptly seated and near each other in the tent section. We own a restaurant and were very impressed with the food quality. The oysters were freshly shucked to order and the food (classic Cape Cod fare) was super fresh and creatively presented. (The drink menu could use some revision though.) What we were most impressed with was the level of service we personally encountered. Our family was seated at two separate tables with different waitstaff. We can't remember their names, but they were college-aged; a beautiful blonde female and a male who looks a little like Colin Kaepernick. We don't know how they did it, but our servers were absolute magicians! Friendly, courteous and patient. In about an hour, we had 3-4 rounds of drinks, enjoyed good food and bought some merchandise before Ubering to our hotel. All throughout, the support staff were extremely helpful. The restaurant business can be brutal. The Beachcomber and it's staff really delivered when the chips were down and against some VERY challenging circumstances! So what a car got devoured by a dune implosion last summer. So what they say parking for $20 is at your own risk this summer. You can put the $20 towards merchandise or food. There is nothing better than Wellfleet oysters and some cocktails at the 'comber. Other food ranges from decent to great, seafood shack in mind. It is the classic Wellfleet experience and gorgeous beach and glorious Atlantic. I love to have a pina colada, oysters, whole belly clams. Tried the sushi grade tuna. Stick with the clams, oysters, lobster rolls. Order your oysters from the best shuckers on cape. This place is always busy. So what if your vehicle gets eaten by the dune? We've been coming here every summer for decades, even though the parking situation gets worse every year (there's nowhere to park nearby except the parking lot, which fills up quickly--you might consider taking the Funk Bus to get here when the weather is good and all the parking spots are taken by people going to the adjacent beach...). We're probably never going to stop coming here, but this year we were very disappointed that the one dish we recommended to everyone and never failed to order for ourselves is missing--nachos are missing from the menu! Please bring back the nachos. Please. We'll forget this ever happened and all will be forgiven. Well we have tried three times to eat here this year 2023 at the start of summer middle and now end. So not the review i was hopping to do. The first two times they where so busy we could not get near the restaurant ! And they don't take reservations. And the walking distance down that road was not an option for me. Today the a google search, states they are open and the welcome center said they where open. We tried looking on there web site. Not clear. Well we tried to call no answer, we went to check CLOSED No sign with hours And we where with many other people trying to eat as well. The hours are difficult to find under FAQs After I looked again they have a calendar that they could mark as closed but its not. A Wellfleet staple bar with a casual and fun atmosphere right on the beach! Parking was difficult to attain in their personal lot due to limited spacing. There is a parking lot a 20 minute walk to Beachcomber which some had parked in which was free after a certain time at night yet be prepared to walk on the side of the street to walk there. If you are lucky to get a parking spot in the private Beachcomer lot it'll cost $30 which you will receive back in a voucher to spend on food or apparel. Apparel ranges in price, we got the Beachcomber cozy sweatshirt (which we wore the whole weekend) which will cost you $60 without the voucher. Drink prices are $6-10 for beer and around $14 for a mixed drink although is yummy it is a little steep for a drink in a plastic cup. We received drinks and food quickly after ordering! OMG - really! We grabbed bikes to ride the Cape and headed to the Beachcomber by recommendation of the bike shop. There parking lot was full so having a bike made a difference! We bypassed the wait for a table and braved the crowd at the bar. We grabbed a spot to sit and quickly ordered a couple of local brews and a garlic mussel appetizer! We expected a small order but were so pleased to see a nice big bowl of perfectly seasoned mussels come our way. The garlic butter and loaf of bread sealed it! They really have it down! We watched the chef throw bags of fresh clams and mussels in the pot and put together perfect dishes! What a great place! read more

The Beachcomber has always been a great vacation staple, but recently their parking rules have soured the experience for us. They closed all of the tables at 7pm on Labor Day weekend and wouldn't let anyone park or come in due to live music at 9pm. A big let down for driving an hour to eat at the restaurant. Really the seafood is incredible. It's rough edges here. Everything will be breaded & fried unless it's a lobster. But that doesn't mean they ruin it. My scallops were generous in portion and perfectly creamy-tender. Freshest, meatiest raw oysters I've had. An oyster shooter I'm still craving. But the menu is huge and hard to navigate. The waitstaff will help, of course, and steer ya right. But 12 oz beers start at $8 and some are $15. Plan to get there at a time they don't charge for parking. Really. Wicked fresh seafood, an awesome deck with it's own raw bar, tasty cocktails, minutes from the beach all combine to make the Beachcomber into a Cape Cod institution and summer time destination. I recommend planning on arriving early if you want to hit up the beach and park in the comber's lot. We got there around 930 after leaving Boston around 730 on a Sunday late in August. After a day at the beach trying to get pictures of the seals (be #sharksmart though) it was up to the Beachcomber to make use of the $20 food and merchandise voucher you buy when you park in their lot. Bring Cash to pay for parking! Surprisingly our group of 7 was able to get a table on the deck almost right away around 5pm, even though the place was packed. I got the scallop roll and a cup of chowder with the Goombay Smash. It was all delicious, with a ton of scallops for the size of the roll. It was a little hard to eat as a roll, but I tried. The scallops were lightly seasoned and fried, so you could really taste the freshness. Personally I would have liked something else on it to provide a textural difference though. A horrible start to our vacation. The first day of our family vacation we decided to visit the beach comer thinking it was a nice spot by the beach. Oh how wrong we were. At first we forced to pay $20 for parking and were told they would give us a reimbursement on our bill (They did not). I have a daughter who's 22 and recently transitioned, and the horribly incompetent bartender refused to serve her because of her transition. If you are LGBTQ or an ally, I would stay away from this place. Made my daughter cry and feel inadequate, which should not be the case. Once we were seated we were disappointed to find that the food was mediocre at best and the wait staff was extremely rude. To make matters worse I spent a considerable amount of time that night laying in bed because of the horrible stomach ache the food gave me. If I could give 0 stars I would. read more
