Average food at best. Come for the views, not for the food. Lobster carbonara - the photos I saw of this on Yelp looked massive. Dont be fooled, when my dish arrived I wondered where the rest of it was. Extremely small. There was no flavor. Tbh I feel like I could have made it better myself. The noodles were way overcooked. The lobster itself was juicy though - 2/5 stars Tuna sliders - completely overcooked, and not worth the price tag. Seemed like the roll was just kings Hawaiian bread. Didn't seem like any effort was put into this dish. Husband did not eat it - 0/5 stars Clam chowder - this was the best dish of the night in my opinion. It's been small though - 4/5 The others in my party got some sushi, halibut, chicken special, and Caesar but didn't get to try them. Ambiance - felt like I was in the movie "get out." Left dinner feeling a little disappointed, but the view was amazing and mostly made up for what was lacking during dinner. Upon pulling in the parking lot, it was a little confusing since the grounds are also a hotel and golf course. We parked at the wrong area but were immediately greeted with two employees on golf carts who drove us to the restaurant. We were seated outside looking over the water and it was beautiful, however, there was a wedding ceremony going on maybe 100 feet away so we felt like we needed to be quiet at first. It felt very close to where we were dining. Our server, Rene, was great and very attentive. However, we were given drink menus at first and when requesting the food menus we were told we would get them after we ordered our drinks. I have never been to a restaurant that did that... The drinks were all very delicious and the presentation was very nice. We ordered the foccacia for an appetizer and it was delicious - very fresh and the carrot hummus served with it was interesting, but tasty. For our meals, 5/6 people ordered the burger, while I ordered the fish & chips. With a $28 price point for the burger, we were expecting a phenomenal burger, but that not served. Pretty much everyone was disappointed with the burger. I tried a bite and it tasted burnt and flavorless. However, the fries served were delicious - very flavorful and fresh, as was my fish. It was fresh and cooked perfectly. I wish we had ordered more of a variety of food so I could say other dishes made up for the burgers, but sadly that was not the case. I think in the future I may go back for a drink (only one since they're so pricey!) or an appetizer but that's about it. read more

Didn't love this place which is actually three places in one: a bar that's too small, a pub-like little dining room in the pub, and a massive wonderful outdoor patio which is amazing. The food was pretty good -- we had burgers and some starters and it was great. If it were only the patio place I'd go 4 stars for sure. But the little pub dining room is not very nice and actually detracts from the pub. The service we had outdoors on the patio was great. read more

This is the clubby bar area of Twenty Eight Atlantic at the Wequassett Resort. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. My husband and I started with drinks. He had wine and I tried the Daisy Chain cocktail which was as tasty as it was beautiful! We then shared the seafood tower which was amazing followed by the Korean chicken and Pleasant Bay Grenades. Been visiting for more than a decade. Although concerned when property changed hands last year, minimal changes to winning formula. Unfortunately that has changed this year. Turnover behind the bar at Thoreaus has changed a perfect vibe. Gone too is the sushi and the menu has remained unchanged. I've only been to the bar for drinks. The bartenders are extremely knowledgable and make wonderful cocktails! I have had both on-menu cocktails such as the Daisy Chain and off-menu cocktails like a Vesper. Every single cocktail was delicious. The bartenders were friendly and perfectly happy to chat about what they like to make, favorite spirits, etc. The last time I was there, they were testing out Cape Cod chips with different seasonings to potentially add to the menu and let me and the bf try the flavors. So nice! I'm not out in Harwich that often, but when I am - I will be stopping by for a cocktail (or 3)! read more

Great food, staff was spectacular and the ambience is fantastic. I had the lobster carbonara and it was absolutely perfect. My mouth is actually watering as I write this review, just remembering it! Michael took care of us and he was spectacular. Gave us enough space, but never left us unattended. Also very knowledgeable about the wine menu. Ambience is beautiful, the decor makes you feel like you are in an exclusive club, where decisions are being made. I love it! Like everything here at Wequassett, the food and service are top notch. The menu is driven by what is current at the flagship Twenty Eight Atlantic restaurant next door, but focuses on a bit more comfort food, lower priced entrees, and has no dress code! Plenty of outdoor seating with the resort's stunning views make this a hard to beat spot... The downside - no reservations! First come first serve with some bar seating and a comfy seating area inside for those awaiting a table. The whole resort is tip inclusive, so 18% is added automatically. The wine list is extensive - same as 28's - and sports some reasonably priced gems like the Sagrantino we enjoyed with our entrees. The clam chowder would have made my grandmother proud, and the oysters were fresh and satisfying - a glass of Chenin Blanc and a White Rioja hummed with this first course. Our food was terrific, a lobster fra diablo and 1/4 pound lobster roll sealed the deal. Service was excellent and we got to chat with the Food and Beverage manager about wines and life at Wequassett. We ate at each location on site during our stay. Loved them all in their own way! read more

We had the best time here. Everything was so well done from the moment we walked in. We arrived early for our 8pm dinner reservation, at the host, Shelly, happily seated us early. Our server walked us through the menu and was happy to provide recommendations. The sushi was phenomenal, and the cheesecake was delicious. The ambiance is so cozy! We loved it. My husband and I will be talking about this meal for years to come. We received the check, and our food had been comped. Our waiter didn't have an explanation on how that happened. We still have no idea why! We were traveling to celebrate our 6th anniversary and thought maybe a friend had called and paid for our meal, but nobody knew where we were. It is a happy mystery that will always make us think fondly of our dinner here. I feel certain we will return for a visit on our next trip to the Cape. read more

Our last visit to Thoreau's was for my birthday last November and it was so good we were anxiously awaiting the re-opening for 2022. When we learned they were re-opening last night we knew what our dinner plans would be. Not surpridingly, it didn't disappoint. First off, our server Eli was charming. She struck the perfect tone between giving us attentive service and not making us feel rushed. For entrees, I had short ribs and my wife had lobster carbonara. More often than not we are in the habit of taking home leftovers but not last night. Our meals were so good we savored every bite and cleaned our plates. For dessert we had the Bailey's offering, also given the clean plate club treatment. Overall, it was a fabulous experience! read more

Very nice little bar/restaurant on the Wequassett Resort grounds.its perfect for a nice glass of scotch. They have many leather bound menus and it smells of rich mahogany. Seriously. Minus the mahogany. The food is of excellent quality as well. I ordered linguine with clam sauce and expected more clams. But it was still quite tasty. The view out through the main dining area is a spectacular view of the sound and boats. The service was fantastic, so it's hard to complain about. We visit Thoreau's once every Fall. We love sitting at the bar and enjoy the delicious food and wonderful service. I was a bit disappointed last night. I accidentally spilled my wine, it was probably at most half full. One of the bar tenders helped us clean it up. Given how much we paid for my glass of wine, it would have been very much appreciated if he had offered a splash of wine so my glass wouldn't be empty. But no such luck. Very disappointed! read more

Good service and very, very good food. We had the Fish and Chips and Braised Short Rib. We also had soup including the New England Clam Chowder and Tomato Bisque. Dessert included the Apple Crisp, Chocolate Cake, and Pineapple Coconut Parfait. All the food was excellent. All in all, it was an excellent meal for four. The only downside was the bill which was $300 for four people. Grant it my wife likes to drink and had a glass of wine and a coffee drink. The kids had four virgin drinks between them. $300 for the meal seems a bit much. Of course there was the 18% gratuity, so really the meal was really $250-260. Btw, the 18% gratuity was just fine with us. Their service was excellent. My only wish with the service was for them to be more attentive and/or faster. Having enjoyed twenty eight Atlantic last summer we were looking forward to a slightly more casual evening at Thoreau's. We had the same great service for a pre-drink on the veranda and came inside opting to sit at the bar. Bartender Steve essentially insulted us for ordering the "house wine" telling us they only have "good wine" and questioning who we had ordered that from. He behaved as if we were invisible the remainder of the evening. We had to flag down help for waters, silverware, to order, etc. The other bartender Sean tried to pick up the slack but overall it was rough service. Still a lovely evening & great meal but very disappointing to receive service such as that at a place like Wequassett. read more

The two stars are for the bartender and server; both of whom were excellent. However, the $45 lobster roll was horrible. You may ask, how do you ruin a lobster roll? Good question for the chef. The claw meat was dried out and the rest of it was flavorless. It was so bad, we cancelled our reservations for the following night at the resort's signature restaurant as we were told the chef was the same at both. Overall, this restaurant was pretty good. The outside lounge with the fire-pits over looking the water was so cute and romantic. After around 30 minutes of enjoying the outside, our table was ready. We placed our orders at 9:00pm and didn't leave the restaurant until 10:30. I feel like the service was very slow. Our waiter was paying more attention to the older couples and families than us. We even had to ask for our bread basket. The food was very delicious. I got the grilled shrimp and garlic pasta and my boyfriend got the clam chowder to start and the Asian BBQ braised short ribs for his entree. There wasn't anything that I wouldn't order again!
