There's also a bar in the back so you don't have to get back in line at the front. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and the oyster flight that included 4 differently prepared oysters. Our favorite was the oysters Davenport and we ordered a dozen more of those. I def regret not ordering the fish tacos, because they looked amazing, but I will be back. Stopped in for a quick bite without checking the Yelp reviews first, which I usually always do. We sat outside and the view of Provincetown Harbor was absolutely amazing. There's plenty of seating, both shaded and in the sun, which made for a really nice atmosphere. The food was average overall and seemed more pre-made than homemade or gourmet. The classic margarita was on the smaller side and a bit too sour for my taste. The classic mojito, on the other hand, was refreshing with plenty of mint and quite good, though not exceptional. The Canteen just may be my favorite place for drinks and food on the Cape. On a nice day it literally can't be beat. The vibes are off the charts, the food is impeccable, the drinks are strong. I dream of their frose all year. I enjoy the semi self service. Order the food at the counter, get your drinks at the bar, they bring the food to you, and you clear your own table. This makes it easy to hang out for a long time or just a quick bite. Food always comes out fast and fresh! We went twice this year and tried something different from the menu each time. Great casual dinner or lunch! The oysters were very fresh and I recommend the Davenport oysters, which had a delicious and bright yuzu vinaigrette, fried garlic, and minced cucumbers. They were so good I returned the next day. The green curry lobster roll was tasty but could've used more curry sauce. Cocktails were also quite good. The one restaurant we were told we had to check out on our visit to Provincetown, and it did not disappoint! The fast-casual atmosphere fit well with our vibe, and there was a ton of seating that had some good scenery. We struggle to find good food at a good value on the Cape. We live in Ogunquit, ME and have excellent restaurants at home. We came during happy hour (3-5). Got the Oyster special a dozen for $18 which is a great price. My daughter got her favorite sandwich, lobster grilled cheese. They know to grill a sandwich. Nice buttery coating grilled to perfection. I got the Fish and Chips. Otho g ruins fish more than a heavy thick batter. This was just right and cooked perfectly. Fish was nicely cooked. French fries are really good too. For drinks my daughter got a Rum Punch and I got a Watermelon Cosmo. Both very good. I only gave 4 stars because the staff could have been a bit friendlier. I get it's the end of the season. Living in a tourist town we're all ready for some quiet time. But it doesn't take a lot of effort to smile maybe. I tried to joke with the bartender but he wasn't having it. Oysters arrive crisp and cleaned, with an onion forward mignonette as well as usual accouterments. Well shucked, the oysters are never too briny, and have a lightness to them. They were clean without a trace of grime or shell. Their lobster roll with butter is delicious with chives and perfectly butter toasted bun. It is on the smaller side and served with fresh helping of a cabbage slaw. The acidity from slaw is refreshing but if you want extra fried snap of French fries or chips, that is understandably classic. The beach seating was lovely and dreamy on a day that wasn't too crowded where you get a nice view of ocean and shore. Only qualm was size of portion for lobster roll could be more generous compared to other lobster rolls I've had for same price point in the area. Okay we went in the winter (New Years weekend) so the seating area was a little smaller than expected but after trying the food, who cares? It is delicious! While the inside seating is somewhat limited they do have lots of outside seating and a tent out back for T-dances and such. My hubby had the fish and chips and raved about it, my sausage egg and cheese on a brioche bun was off the brunch menu and was pretty dang good too. You order at the counter but the super sweet staff bring your food and drinks to the table. Yes, they have a full bar. Yes, they decorate like insane holiday people and we were living for it. There are self busing stations so it's quick and easy turnover on tables. The negative is that the lobster roll meat was overcooked and tough and my cod Bahn mi tasted like overly salted tuna salad on a squishy sub roll.
