Top notch service! They have a nice list of syrups to add to your coffee. I asked if they had any sugar free options and to my surprise they had more than just vanilla and caramel. They have a toasted marshmallow and I was intrigued! The nice barista mentioned having it with Caramel it's very good. I asked if I can have it made less sweet. She said absolutely. SOLD! The prices are very reasonable. The bars it's was right. I loved it! She even checked in later with me if I enjoyed it. I would definitely come here for another cup not only because their coffee is good but they value their customers.

Emerald Isle Latte and tomato hummus sandwich.

Was in town for a work conference and needed a pick me up. Adorable interior and very friendly staff. I got an iced Emerald Isle latte which is pistachio and white chocolate. Yum! I also got the tomato and hummus sandwich on sourdough. That was very simple but yummy and a perfect afternoon snack. They also had a basket of mini paper cranes to take when you picked up your food. Very charming! Overall, I'd stop in again.

The Bean 226 is a tiny but super busy coffee shop. I was here on Saturday, there was hardly a spot to sit. They have a huge selection of beautiful mugs right by the front counter, not the best spot, since they could easily get knocked over. They have some locally made items for sale. There was art, jewelry, tee shirts, and more. It seems to be a very community oriented coffee shop. They have a whole variety of baked goods, as well as sandwiches they can make. I got the Banana Split Latte. It was ready quickly. I found a spot by the window on a bar stool. This latte was very tasty and frothy, but I couldn't taste any banana in it. It was still a bit sweet from the chocolate in it. They had a ton of available seats outside, it is still too cold to utilize those for now. I had a pleasant experience at The Bean 226, and will be returning soon.

They offer specialty lattes and bagels and breakfast sandwiches , among other things. Everything is delicious! We went during a morning rush and had to wait. It was worth it.

I recently discovered The Bean 226 after a Yelp search for Windsor area coffee shops. With a 4.5 Star rating and over 100 reviews, it seemed like a good bet. It's located next to Taste of India in Windsor Center. There are all kinds of coffee drinkers, and we look for different things. I'm primarily a black iced coffee and/or cold brew drinker, and I drink home pour overs almost daily. The most important thing for me is the selection of a respected roaster, and the quality and type of beans used for iced coffee since I'm drinking it black. I prefer something bright and acidic. But I also like coffees that are smooth, balanced and/or rich, etc. I ordered a black iced coffee. I can usually figure out the roaster for the beans because coffee shops often display the bags and/or sell bags of coffee from that roaster. I couldn't find any clues at Bean 226. So I asked. The person who helped me didn't know. The black iced coffee was below average for CT coffee shops that I've visited. It was slightly unpleasant going down and in the aftertaste. It had either a slightly over-brewed or a past prime taste. Given their Yelp rating, I assume that Bean 226 must be good at other things like coffee beverages and/or food items. The atmosphere of the shop was cute. Service was fine, other than the lack of knowledge about their coffee. Bean 226 didn't connect for me. 2 Stars

Nice little coffee shop. Baked goods are gigantic and fairly tasty, coffee is bitter, needs to be in a latte to be drinkable. Randomly found this little breakfast spot not too far away from us. We decided to take a detour and get some drinks while out and about. The place is very much what I would consider a modern coffee shop: darker, lots of clutter pieces but not dirty. decent list of drinks and bakery items to munch on. The problem I have with this type of coffee shop. They don't brew coffee to order. You get drip which is brewed sometime between when you order it or when they opened, or you get something out of the espresso machine. I don't mind waiting for a good coffee to be brewed up, but I don't like having to result to americanos every time I want to have a warm cup of bean water. I decided to go with an americano, gilfriend opted for a fancy iced tea with tropical flavors. The bakery items were gigantic! bear claws were appropriately proportioned to an actual bear and the apple fritters were the size of a small bushel! So I got an apple fritter and the girlfriend got a biscotti. The americano, the coffee they used was too dark. It was closer to burnt, and the seep on the coffee brought out a lot of the bitter notes. had to add lots of sugar, milk, and more than a smattering of salt to combat the bitterness. It almost feels like the coffee is made very strong to compensate for the latte side of things. The bakery items were tasty. The apple fritter opted to not do chunks of apple through the dough and instead did an apple compote in a pocket in the pastry. It was a pleasant surprise when I got to it, since the rest of the pastry didn't really have an apple flavor. Overall, not bad but not really great coffee either. It's a good stop for the area, but unless you want a latte I don't think the coffee is good enough to stand on its own.

I met my mom at The Bean 226 to grab something warm to drink before heading down for a walk at the Windsor Center River Trail. I'm so happy we stopped in because I had a Hazelnutty Mocha latte that was so delicious I drank it in about 10 minutes. We also shared a cinnamon raisin bagel, which was average, nothing special. Their cafe is adorable, I loved the mural, the artwork they had displayed, and the great natural light from the front win The cashier could have been a little bit more patient and helpful with recommendations. But otherwise, we really enjoyed our visit and will be back the next time we're in the area.

"And there's fire on the mountain Lightening in the air…read moreGold in them hills and it's waiting for me there" (Marshall Tucker Band) Fire On the Mountain has one of the most unique menus I've ever encountered. Seriously, where else have you ever seen breakfast quesadillas, catfish and grits, cheesecake cornbread waffles, smoked brisket hash, deep fried pork ribs, catfish, mushroom, and alligator tacos, and a Puerto Rican Rice Bowl all happily living in the same menu's neighborhood? And then, the icing on the cake was our server - a charismatic and uber-friendly gent named Bromwell who lights up the room with his personality. He made my list of the five greatest servers I interacted with this year. The restaurant's location is as unusual as its menu. You'll find it occupying the front space at the Suffield Commons Senior Living Apartments! Yup, as you walk through the restaurant and out their back door, you actually enter a common space for the housing complex. The restaurant itself has two dining rooms with booths, tables, and chairs and a bar with dining room chairs. That eclectic menu is chock full of breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices with Mexican and barbecue flairs. We were there for lunch and ordered two things. The first was an enormous Cheese Quesadilla ($9.35) with pork ($3.12) on a grilled flour tortilla served with sour cream and pico. It was a thing of beauty, cut into five thick wedges loaded with smoked pork. Our second item was a Caesar Salad (Half size for $6.23) with a side of smoked brisket ($9.36). I passed on the croutons and Caesar dressing in lieu of barbecue sauce as my dressing. I gotta tell you, the brisket was GREAT, a big serving of tender and juicy smoked beef cut into four slabs that must have totaled close to a half pound. We loved everything about Fire On the Mountain and agreed that we need to return for a proper breakfast when we are out that way or making a morning airport run. PRO TIP The restrooms are located in the housing complex's common space I described earlier/ Just exit the restaurant by the door in the rear dining room, and you're just about there.

Apparently iced tea is a no no to order in the fall or winter in small town Connecticut. I chose their 14oz prime ribeye for what seemed to be a good price of only $40. It comes with the mixed veggies (Broccoli. Carrots. Squash) and potato of the day (homemade mashed potatoes). The steak was a bit chewy and did not seem to be a typical prime cut of beef I am used to getting back in Texas. Maybe prime beef in Connecticut isn't as good quality, who knows. The homemade bread that comes out before the dinner is good but hard. It's also very garlicky. Service was a bit awkward. Our waitress came by halfway through and said she was checking to make sure we were well taken care of...but my tea was almost empty and she just walked off and didn't say she'd refill it. I eventually had to flag her down a few mins later to ask for a refill. At fancy restaurants, they just fill it without you asking. She also messed up my colleagues meal. He asked for no squash and the chef seemed to put extra squash on his plate. She should have remembered that he didn't want squash. Overall, it was a decent experience, but I just expected more from a fancy restaurant. You pay a little more for better food and better service, but we didn't get that here.

Chopt is a restaurant chain with salads, wraps, and bowls that are made and tossed to order. Think of Subway or Chipotle where they build your salad in front of you. The menu consisted of salads, warm bowls, and wraps with options to create-your-own and let your creative mind run wild. We ordered ready made creations from their menu. I ordered the Spicy Sonoma Caesar Salad, my husband got the Mediterranean Tahini Bowl, and my mom tried their seasonal Sweet Peach Burrata Bowl. The staff were very nice and helpful. They made sure everything looked good to you before they finished. I liked that they tossed the salads in the dressing and asked how much (lite, regular, a lot). There were like 20 dressings to choose from. My salad was huge and had a lot of toppings. It had a lot of chipotle chicken, spicy pickled peppers, avocado, and yummy parmesan crisps. I liked that there weren't croutons. The romaine and kale were fresh and crisp. This salad did bring the heat because the dressing had a kick. My husband and my mom enjoyed their bowls too.
