My husband often visit when I go to village wool. This time I went in too since I needed a drink and something sweet to soothe my mouth after eating spicy food I had no business ordering. I got an iced chair with almond milk and coffee cake. I found the chai to be bitter, it tasted like the black tea had been over brewed. The coffee cake was solid though. Quaint small local in house coffee roasting shop in the quiet corner of South Glastonbury. Was coming back from visiting my brother and decided I wanted a nice hot drink. Saw So G and decided to pop in. We purchased 2 drinks my husband made us own Latte with a blend of 2 flavored syrup options. And I tried the Irish Cream Latte Special with 3 shots espresso. I can say this was one of best Latte's I have had in a while no bitterness not too sweet. I enjoyed it so much I drank it too fast. Hubby did the same thing.....only thing was he got a sip of mine said it was really good. I didn't get to try his which he said was just as good and said he'd definitely make sure he stops in here when in the area. You can even get coffee beans here to make your own coffee at home. They have some baked goods as well but, most were gone since it was around 2 when we stopped in. But, we will definitely stop by again and hopefully get to try them out as well. read more

In the area for a walk and fresh picked corn and stopped for a Black Iced Coffee (Viennese Dark Roast), savory scone and Caffeine Free Red Iced Tea with Lemon and Orange. My iced coffee was good. It's not my preferred flavor or roast profile for iced coffee, but it was well executed. My wife liked her tea and the fruit offer was a nice touch. The cheddar, chive scone was fresh and tasty. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was So. Glastonbury farm area laid back. There was about a 10 minute line, but I thought they worked through it fairly well. Four Stars. read more

The past few times I've been to So G we've been annoyed by the crowd that seems to hang out there regularly. I'd assume the place was dog friendly, but I was yelled at by another patron for walking inside with my well behaved dog to order my coffee. I stopped by here on a Thursday morning last week by myself for my morning coffee. So G is located in a strip mall of sorts and has both an outdoor patio area as well as indoor seating. Whenever I arrived at just before 9 AM on a Thursday morning the place was pretty packed. All of the indoor seating was taken and some people were sitting outside as well. The inside of this place looked a little smaller than what I expected from the outside but that's not saying that it was small. I imagine it was probably half due to the number of people inside. Anyways they have a tile floor with some tables and then a display case with limited goodies as well as a coffee bar. I saw pictures of a coffee roaster on Yelp but didn't notice it during my brief visit. For my coffee on this morning I went with my usual large Americano. It was ready within minutes and I was quickly out the door and on my way. Once it had cooled down a bit I was able to try it. It was strong and smooth and tasted alright. For some reason I didn't find it to be anything more than A-OK even though there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. While So G certainly wasn't my cup of tea, the coffee seemed to be of good quality and I saw many others enjoying it. read more

It's been a long pending visit to this coffee shop, we can never make it mainly coz of their timings they are open until 4:30 on weekdays and close by 1 on weekends. It's a tiny space with a bar, sofa and 2 tables theres also some seating out on the porch. The cappuccino was good but I hate it when they serve coffee in a togo cup... maybe it just me but I find a lot of difference drink from a cup, tastes much better. This should be the only coffee shop on your radar. Ever. I stopped into So G on a whim after hiking through Cotton Hollow. I needed a caffeine pick me up, but when I saw their menu offerings I couldn't pass up a quick snack as well. What struck me immediately about So G was the genuine friendliness of the girls behind the counter. They were incredibly helpful, offering suggestions to my little cousin who is not a coffee house regular, and thoroughly explaining fun facts about the menu as they went through it. I asked if the sweet potato chipotle soup was vegetarian (it was), and was told how they get their soup from a small company in New York where it is made in small batches and shipped fresh. I was then offered a sample to try before buying. The whole interaction felt like an easy conversation with friends, and totally made my day. I decided on an iced americano and a bowl of the sweet potato chipotle soup. Both were phenomenal. The soup did indeed taste homemade, and was a delicious puree of sweet potatoes with a hint of smoky spice. (Soups also come with a choice of bread of crackers, but I opted for neither that day.) My americano was bold and smooth, just what an americano should be. I enjoyed both of these treats, nestled in at a cozy table in the small but very inviting dining area. The coffee was delicious; there was a nice selection of decaf beans (organic and fair trade, I think) at a good price. Sweet as the whipped cream on my strong espresso is the service at So G. A cozy coffee shop, with a roaster featured right at the center of its back wall as well as a beautiful patio along the front outside of the shop, So G has so good vibes. It was felt by several others, too, who were relaxing out on the patio during the sunny day I visited. It is a great spot to work in or meet with friends. I instantly felt welcomed and comfortable the moment I stepped in to the shop. What makes this shop is the service. When I stopped in for my first visit, Rachel was the server with another very kind barista. I asked Rachel what she'd suggest, and after she named several delicious-sounding options, she said her favorite was the espresso con panna (a shot of espresso with whipped cream). She said they could do a single or a double--whipped cream, that is. I asked her what she would do--how could I not trust her judgment after naming my new favorite dessert as her favorite?--and she said double. I nodded, it was understood--I'll make it double. Perfection. This espresso is extremely strong and bold. The double shot of whipped cream balanced it nicely. This is quality espresso and, needless to say, service. Both baristas were very welcoming and kind; they knew regulars, too, as I saw a few walk in during the time I was there and the baristas asked to verify their orders before crafting them. Where else but a local coffee shop like So G can you get that kind of service and recognition? The espresso itself is strong and delicious, the drink options plenty (not just coffee for those who may not like it, with tea, hot chocolate, lemonade, and local soda), the choice of baked goods to go along with your drink a good selection. On my way out, I snagged a freshly squeezed lemonade, on top of which Rachel carefully placed a slice of lemon. Refreshing and perfect for a summer day. Everything in the shop is well priced, too, considering the quality of drink and service that you receive!! So G is a little tricky to find as it is tucked in a small strip-mall area, so just watch out for the tall sign with a number of stores on it. Your coffee senses will likely heighten, as mine did, when I got closer to So G. It is not a shop that you want to miss. My overall impression: So G so has it. read more

So G has the best roasted coffee grounds that you can get in the area-- and a variety of different types to suit your every need. If you don't have a coffee grinder at home you can get them ground right in the store, specific to the type of brewing you will be doing. One thing I especially appreciate is that they have full size bags and also half bags, so we can get one specifically for the french press and one with finer grounds for the aero press. The mocha was good but unfortunately there was a loud mouth patron there spewing all this maga Trumpian nonsense that ruined the whole experience. For years, I've been a big fan of the "competition" (Daybreak Coffee Roasters) across town, but So G is definitely winning me over. You can smell the delicious aroma the second you pull into the parking lot, and when you walk in the door, you're mouth starts to water. The coffee is fresh and real. It's not the pre-packaged, mass-produced garbage you get at Dunkin. The workers are accommodating and personable. The atmosphere is quiet and serene. It just doesn't get any better. After a wonderful morning of peach picking at Dondero Orchards, my friends and I ended up at So G for a caffeine pick me up. I've heard about this little spot for years and somehow it took until now to finally make my way over (which I guess makes sense, since it isn't exactly in my neck of the woods). The iced coffee is exceptional. No sweeteners needed, and maybe just a drop of cream or milk. SoG also stocks gluten free goodies from Dee's on the other side of town. My pistachio muffin was HEAVEN, though not sure which bakery it came from. The cafe itself is cozy with exposed brick, tin ceilings, and plenty of seating (outdoor as well) despite the small-ish space. Bags of coffee beans to go are a must! read more
