Broadway opened in the early 90s in Ashford. This is truly where the locals eat in the small town…read moreof Ashford, AL As a local from Ashford, it never fails for me to run into someone I know. I can say over the years that I have ate here, I have never been disappointed. It is a cafeteria like the name implies. Last time I was there, there was at least 4 meat choices to chooae from. In the cafeteria price, dessert and your drink is included. For me, that meant an entree, 2 vegetables, cornbread, sweet tea, and banana pudding was $8.50 plus tax. I have definitely ate at more expensive cafeterias over the years. If the cafeteria does not suite you, there is a menu. My entree today was BBQ chicken, oven roasted type with a wonderful, home-cooked taste to it. Cornbread was pan-fried and flat. Green beans were what you would expect. But the star of my plate was the potato salad. It was chilled, with the right combo of mustard and mayo and a smooth texture. I wish I would have chose a double helping of it over the green beans. No surprises with the banana pudding and my sweet tea was refreshingly sweet. There is an employee that checks on refills and cleans the table for you. Broadway cafe is a solid choice for a cafeteria style lunch if you are near Ashford.

Well... my normal coffee spot was closed. So, adventure we went. Got in around 11:30 on Sunday…read more When we walked in the staff were on their phones and the greeting was underwhelming and rude. The shop stunk, not like coffee either, it smelt moist. Kinda like wet dog minus the dog. All of that aside, I carried on. The staff were rude, with an overall energy that I was by somehow doing them wrong. The menu prices were also wrong, and I was just pointed to look at a sign that was off to the side and not clear either. It only said minimum $0.50 extra on menu items, which the staff blamed on inflation, and I paid an extra $1.50 for my drink. After I got my coffee I couldn't find the sleeves that were hidden behind stuff and the staff were not helpful, other than saying they were there. The coffee is okay, maybe around 3 or 4 stars. However, the service awarrants a never to return.

They also have some neat looking local art. They have plenty of seating and open at 630. The not so good. When I ordered my drink, an iced mocha, I asked that it not be too sweet. Instead it came out tasting like a chocolate shake with a hint of coffee. I still drank it because I wanted my morning caffeine but it was SUPER sugary. I wouldn't order it again. They also seem to be one of the last coffee shops I been at lately that is using styrofoam cups. I had brought my own , but the majority of the people sitting around me had these type. Please make a necessary change to something more sustainable .

If you look at the product reviews on their website, you will not find even a single 1-star review…read more This is because if you leave a 1-star review (on a product you purchased), they will hold your review hostage until you 'work with them' and 'cooperate with them', as they continue to waste your time (after they already wasted your money with their inedible meats). OTOH, all the 5-star reviews I've posted were immediately published under their products. Here's the fair truth about this company - - the chicken meats (both muscle and organs) are inedible and made me feel ill even after one bite. I knew it was coming as even the smell made me brace myself. - the beef organs are inedible as well - same as above. I threw the whole thing in the trash after I took one bite. - the beef muscle meats, however, are the best i've had in the past 2 years. I've been desperately searching for a new source for steak after Whole Foods Market took a huge nose dive for some reason. I tried US Wellness Meats, and 3 Amish delivery farms in PA, but everything I was trying would make me nauseous or unwell. So they must be doing one thing right at White Oak. However, because of their policy of censoring feedback they don't like, and eagerly posting reviews they do like, I'm now aware of how manipulative and dishonest they are. Trying to reason with them to stop withholding my reviews was an even further waste of time, as their director of marketing (Jenni Harris) feels very entitled to your time and effort. She believes it's her actual job to demand that I explain myself to her satisfaction, and to bicker with me and to imply that I'm lying (about products I paid for and had to throw out). Instead of trying to make the customer experience seamless, she thinks it's appropriate to command me to jump thru hoops because it's 'their process', instead of admitting how manipulative their whole biased review system is. Obviously if they make it this difficult to post a negative review, most reasonable people would rather not spend hours arguing with them, and then White Oak gets to withhold and silence all negative reviews, because the customer "didn't follow the process". Anyone who's dealt with bureaucracies knows the dynamic I'm describing. I know no company is perfect, but I'm going to try finding a meat supplier that doesn't make nauseous both physically and mentally.
