I was able to attend the Elite Event on the final day at The Pastry Factory. While the weather was terrible, I'm glad I was able to push through all the traffic that was out today. I didn't realize it was located inside the North Market, which I haven't been to in years. If I can be honest, the parking at The North Market is terrible. They have closed down the paid parking lot that used to be located right behind the market, while they work on building a parking garage in its place. After getting parked I walked into a busy market that was buzzing with lots of people. Everyone was out celebrating valentines weekend. After walking around on the lower level I finally stumbled across The Pastry Factory. I was greeted by a friendly staff member. I didn't catch his name but we both smiled and greeted one another. After providing my name I was told I could choose between a couple of flavored fortune cookies. I chose raspberry as it seemed like it would be better than the other two options. I also purchased a frosted butter cookie with the word LOVE on it. I tried both the fortune cookie + the frosted butter cookie, and found the butter cookie to be my favorite. While the fortune cookie was light and crisp, I found the raspberry flavoring to be too overpowering for my taste. But I loved the positive quote of the message inside the cookie. Overall I appreciated the friendly + warm interaction with the gentleman that helped me with my purchase, and I love that this is a black owned business. I will definitely visit the Pastry Factory again if I'm ever in the area with family or friends.

First time customer. Friendly service. Nice selection of fresh pastries. Was looking for something savory when I got to North Market. The brownie was calling my name though. Gooey, soft, moist, and delicious. Good -portion size as well. Going to try the coffee cake next time.

I was craving a sweet treat on the afternoon of Valentine's Day and decided to make my way to the North Market. After browsing around a bit I discovered The Pastry Factory. Their counter was filled with baked goods like cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and even these giant fortune cookies dipped in chocolate and covered with sprinkles. I'll definitely have to go back for one of those. Since it was Valentine's Day I treated myself to a mini cupcake sampler that featured six of their cupcakes, just miniature size. They were all super moist and delicious. I can't imagine how good they would be full size. I visit the North Market regularly and now that this Black-owned, women-owned bakery has set up shop, I'll be sure to head their way next time I get a sweet tooth.

04 March 2023 -- At the Pastry Factory, inside North Market in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

The Pastry Factory is located in Columbus, Ohio inside North Market which is a big market hall or food court downtown. When I visited in March 2023, I bought a yummy blueberry bar ($5) that has a square shape like a brownie but I don't remember the actual name of the item that I bought. It tasted as soft as a cake and I believe it is called a Blondie. It was absolutely delicious especially with the fresh blueberries inside. Customer service is friendly and efficient. The line of people waiting to order was slightly long because the weekend I came was during the Arnold Classic crossfit and bodybuilding competition but the line still moved quickly. I can't wait to try other sweet treats from the Pastry Factory. **** - 91/150 total reviews in 2023 - 642 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 2 December 2023

The parking is always such a hot mess express for this North Market. If you do not find street parking..it can get expensive real dang fast. I wanted to rip the North Market on a Saturday evening & treat myself to a lil date night. I hate how the North Market parking garage is the same one for special events. So even though I left by 6:30 before North Market even closed & I was only there for 30 minutes..I had to pay $23 for parking since there was a Blue Jackets game last night & the rodeo. I just do not find it fair to be charged that price when I was out of the garage long before each event started when the garage literally has an area for North Market customers. I had proof I bought things & a $2 dollar off parking voucher. It is just annoying. Going downtown can get expensive quickly. I much prefer the Dublin Bridgepark North Market where parking is free & much easier to get around. I showed up at 6:00 PM, an hour before closing. I found it interesting right before closing on such a busy, important night the worker was on a break. I had to ask other vendors if they closed or if they would be back. I walked around & the worker came back. He REEKED of cigarettes. Did not fancy that as he is about to touch my pastries (quite weird). His fingernails were also long as all get out. I feel like in the food industry, touching food, you should definitely keep those babies cut. I asked about the different products to get to know the vendor. He wasn't having it at all. They had alcohol infused & regular cupcakes. I got 2 of the regular cupcakes (Boston crème + PBJ). I got myself a lil Heath candy bar rice crispy treat. I love when they are nice n squishy..baking done right!! I got a cinnamon roll (very hard). Not soft, not squishy. I had to put it in the microwave. For a $9 pastry (that price seems STEEP for what you get). Also, why is 1 single pastry that much?! It better have gold in it. I finally got a peanut butter cookie that had M&M's in it. It was amazing. I also got a Snickerdoodle that was very dry. I did not eat it. I recommend this place for some baked goods, but not all. I may be back for more if there is more of a selection next time. But I will never drive just to get this in the North Market.

My mom wanted handmade pasta for mothers day, so I went over to the North Market to pick up some treats and flowers. My review needs updated when I actually try them, but a little 4 pack of unique cupcakes made a perfect little addition to my Mother's Day gift for my mama. Check my photo caption to see the flavors. I like that they're made simplistically, which makes me think the pastry chef behind it all is more focused on epic flavor than on making it elaborately pretty (it's a good sign). My mom said they were all delicious. Will report back soon!

    So sweet!!

This place is the ultimate trap!!! Fresh new to North Market, The Pastry Factory has been making rounds with pop-ups and various events around the city. Their space is adorable! Cute little turnstiles for viewing the wonderful cakes and cupcakes! Cookies, pastries and a assortment of delicious treats! Classy, tasty and authentic! These cakes are too good. Some vegan, gluten-free and whole lot more! I ended up getting the Pretty Woman cupcake (strawberry buttercream) and a Peach Creme cupcakes and oh my god.... perfect. Rich and light at the same time??!! Come on! 5 stars for this black own, women led business. It is a trap....

Recently came upon this place while visiting North Market and were thrilled with the options. They have cupcakes made for those with special dietary restrictions like gluten free, dairy free and vegan. We purchased two cupcakes and they were absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back.

stopped in looking for dessert and had the most delicious brownie ever! This place has something for everyone. Cakes, cupcakes, cookies oh my! Per the owner's nephew "There is nothing basic here." He was right! I can't wait to return to try everything!

However my overall experience was disappointing. The staff were not friendly and seemed annoyed when they had to find my cupcake order. After they found my order, they seemed annoyed that I wanted to order a drink. I ordered a matcha latte and it was just okay, but pretty pricey. The cupcakes themselves were severely disappointing. They were extremely tiny for the price. The cake was very dense and off putting. The frosting was also dense. I'm an extreme chocolate lover and did not enjoy the chocolate cupcakes and frosting at all. Everything just tasted very heavy. Their vanilla cake flavor and batter was better. It was slightly less dense and more palatable, but for the price I will not be ordering it again. Due to lack of service and food/drink quality and taste I will not be coming here again. There's better options in Columbus for this price point.

My standard for cupcakes are different than the general masses as I feel like the ENTIRE cupcake should be a complete entity taste wise and one component shouldn't outshine the other. We were gifted tickets for the German Village picnic Giftory experience which gave us two macarons of our choosing and two vanilla shortbread cookies for free. We chose the raspberry chambord and pistachio macarons while also ordering two pistachio cloud matchas. All of the desserts were excellent. The raspberry macaron was very fruit forward while the pistachio was more subdued, but still had a spot on flavor. Even with sugar coating the shortbread cookies, the touch of vanilla made them taste light. I could easily see myself eating far too many of those. The star of the show was the matcha. 10/10! I've never had a pistachio flavored drink, so I was a little hesitant, but wow, I'm glad I ordered it! The matcha base wasn't overly sweet nor was the pistachio foam overly salty. Perfect mix of sweet and savory. Even thought the line was out the door, it moved at a decent pace and our drinks didn't take too long to receive. I'd like to try the strawberry matcha next time, but I'm not sure if I can pass up the pistachio Highly recommend!

The cafe is itty bitty and there is absolutely no seating inside so it's more of a grab and go situation. There are a few seats outside so hopefully you can snag a seat when the weather is nicer. When you walk in you pull a number and wait for it to be called. Almost felt like I had walked into the DMV. lol We peeked at the display counters while we waited and tried to have our orders ready when it was our turn to expedite the wait for those after us. There were a few shelves that displayed various cookies, breads and things you could grab and go. The place was clean and the process was orderly. They seemed to keep things in the front stocked. We probably waited about 15 minutes. I pulled number 90 and the were calling the last of the 60's. We ordered several items to try including the packzis with three different fillings since we went at the right time of year for these. We grabbed a cheese, strawberry and lemon. We also chose a cheese danish, maple cream stick, apple fritter, cherry turnover and a donut stick. Once we told them what we wanted the girl helping us went to the back and started filling our box. A few moments later she returned, we paid and headed out the door with our sweets. My husband didn't want to wait so we opened up the box once we got to the car and each took one bite from each of our selections. We didn't find anything wrong with our choices. The one thing I was thrown off by is how they make their apple fritters. I almost missed ordering one bc they look nothing like the apple fritters I'm used to eating. It was just ok in my book. Not something I would get again. The donut stick on the other hand is something I wouldn't miss next time. In fact I'd be getting more than one. It was probably my favorite item of all we selected. The cream stick dough was soft. The cream wasn't too sweet. The only thing I would have changed was to have the maple icing be a bit more maple flavored. The turnover was nice and crispy flakey but the filling was just ok. Maybe a different flavor next time if I would get one. How can you go wrong with a cheese danish? Warm this slightly and you're hitting a home run. This was a nice stop and we learned the difference between what we liked and loved. We know just what to get next time. I will say they have a great social media presence and do a phenomenal job interacting with their customers and community.

We enjoy their products and welcome Resch's to Gahanna. We are highly confident Resch's would be even more successful if they took two actions: 1. Open for business at least by 7:00 a.m. 2. Offer the option of traditional no-filling Chocolate and Vanilla frosted Long John donuts. -- market data supports this and shows .... Based on: * Sampling of 100+ independent bakery hours across U.S. cities * Regional bakery association listings * Yelp/Google Business hour patterns * Known bakery business models A realistic, data‑grounded estimate is: Only about 10-15% of neighborhood bakeries open at 8:00 a.m. or later. Further market data shows... Bakeries that offer only filled Long Johns are extremely uncommon. Why unfilled Long Johns almost always remain on the menu * They serve the "less sweet" customer segment. * They pair well with coffee (important for morning sales). * They are cheaper to produce and have fewer failure points. * They are the "default bar donut" in many regions. Even bakeries that push filled varieties keep unfilled bars because they sell steadily and require no additional labor. --- Bottom-line conclusion Bakeries that offer only filled Long Johns are very rare -- probably under 5% of all bakeries. The overwhelming majority offer both, with filled varieties outnumbering unfilled but not replacing them.
