The technician was nice and all but unfortunately I didn't get to enjoy the express buccal massage as much as I should've. It's one of the most painful ones I've had, and now my cheeks and gum line hurts before my upcoming trip. The oil used on my face did break my skin out a bit, not the most pleasant or relaxing smell either. I had been searching for holistic wellness haven like this for a few years (yes, this review is long overdue!) and was initially impressed by the reviews. Had my very first Botnia Bespoke Facial appointment today with Jennifer. I'm not new to facials, but this was unlike any other facials I've had before. I expected this to be like other normal facials where they slap some clay on you and leave, but man was this experience AMAZING! I was greeted by Jennifer who prepared a treatment facial especially for my skin concerns. She explained what she was adding and how it helps address each specific skin concern I had. All the products are natural and organic which is a bonus because I have pretty sensitive skin. After applying the treatment mask, she proceeded to give the most amazing neck/shoulder massage to help drain out my lymphatic system and decrease inflammation. This was seriously the best!!! I've heard of Cosmetic Acupuncture but had never tried it. I have previously dealt with scars from severe acne in my teens and I've done laser treatment to help with that in the past, but it has been a year since and the scars and pores became more prominent again due to too much beach time under the sun. Also, I have lost 25lbs, so there was extra layer under my chin, my eyelids were droopy and my cheeks were saggy. I'm in my late 30s and fine lines are starting to show too. I have tried laser and chemical peels for my acne scarring and finally decided to try cosmetic acupuncture since I saw one of my friends doing it and she came out looking refreshed AF. I'm in my early 30s but I started to have concerns over my frown lines and marionette lines as it seems to get deeper every year. When I started acupuncture 4 months ago, it was at another place with mostly fresh young acupuncture graduates. I went in for pain management, but the treatments there caused me more pain because the new acupuncturists were not gentle or experienced. After a couple of treatments, I decided to try a new place and that is when Lydia entered my life. When I first met Lydia, I hesitated and became anxious because I thought "oh no another fresh young early 20-something year old acupuncturist!" But to my surprise Lydia was exceptionally gentle, knowledgeable, & calming. She has a special healing touch and a kind, deeply compassionate and peaceful spirit. It wasn't until several visits later, that Lydia told me her age and all I could do was gasp! I'm 29 years old and I thought Lydia was at least 5 years younger than me! So naturally, I begged her to tell me her beauty secrets to her flawless skin. She then explained the many benefits of facial acupuncture, gua sha massage and basic skin care. I had heard it before but here I was faced with proof- facial acupuncture is better than botox! Luckily for me, Lydia had launched The Beauty Within and was accepting to new clients. I didn't hesitate to start my treatments. Through Lydia, I had already experienced so much healing with other issues I was dealing with- hormonal balance, improved mood & sleep, and nearly completely reduced pain related to endometriosis and better thyroid function. Per Lydia's recommendation, I completed 10 total facial acupuncture treatments. Despite my young age, I already had fine lines, sun spots, and some acne scars. So, I asked Lydia to focus on these "problem areas" for me. Mainly, my goal was to prevent these issues from becoming worse and hopefully see some improvement. Overall, each session went perfectly and usually meant a deep rejuvenating nap. There was minimal pain during each treatment thanks to Lydia's very gentle touch. I had bruising twice but later realized this was after I had started taking vitamin E. I discontinued the vitamin E temporarily and the issue resolved. I also felt that the LED lights helped reduce bruising significantly. After completing the 10 sessions, I can honestly say I'm completely satisfied with my results. The fine lines a much finer (some completely gone), my pores have reduced in size (big plus!), acne scars greatly reduced, and I've noticed even & glowing skin tone. Interestingly, I've also noticed that my skin feels softer and my face products absorb so much better; I'm normally very dry but products tended to just sit on my skin before. I've had many compliments as well from friends and family remarking I look younger and my skin looks more vibrant. First, let me start by saying that I had absolutely no prior experience with any kind of acupuncture. To be honest, the thought of it made me cringe. I first saw Lydia at a wellness health fair at work back in 2017 or 2018. That was the first time I heard about cosmetic acupuncture. She was very sweet and I was the last person who got a complimentary jade roller as part of her business promotion. I was intrigued and held on to her card for a couple of years. Last year, during quarantine, I finally decided to purchase a package of around 12 sessions which included cosmetic acupuncture and some LED/GuaSha + cupping sessions. Not gonna lie, I was a little skeptical at first but after completing some of my first sessions, I started seeing results. My skin was more plump and vibrant and after the final sessions, I noticed my face had the appearance of being more lifted and firm. My package included the GuaSha facial tool and a silicone facial cupping set. Lydia recommended I try to do some of the treatments in between sessions and to continue after I completed my total sessions. Due to the nature of this type of procedure, it is recommended I go back for maintenance treatments. I haven't gone back yet but I do intend to at some point. In addition, during my treatments, I told Lydia about other concerns I had regarding digestion and she always had great advice and recommendations. She believes in treating the body as a whole and she was always more than willing to provide me with information. I recommend Lydia 100%. Her treatment center is very cute and clean and the atmosphere is serene and comfortable.
