This is an overdue review. I have been a patient of Healing Roots acupuncture since 2021. I started attending while undergoing IVF treatment because I heard acupuncture was beneficial. Alyssa and team were VERY accommodating when I needed extra sessions. Then I again returned for the same reason-to get my body prepared for IVF treatment. However, I was blessed to be pregnant without IVF. I do believe going to acupuncture was the reason I conceived. Recently, I hurt my back with pain down my left leg. When Alyssa saw me walk in with a limp, she right away asked me questions and we completed a session. I left without a limp and feeling sooo much better. I continue to return to healing roots acupuncture because of the way they always treat me. They have always been flexible and more now with kids. BEWARE! I used to refer people to this business often, but I REGRET IT! DO NOT GO TO THIS ACUPUNCTURIST!!!! They stopped billing my insurance and started charging my credit card for services, but with the understanding that they would still bill my insurance and then reimburse me. Instead, they stopped communicating with me, wouldn't give any updates, and wouldn't help me with giving me the appropriate documents to bill my insurance myself. Which means that they have put me out A LOT of money. I drove over to kindly ask for assistance, I was told that they aren't doing well financially and haven't been able to pay their billing services person, so they can't help me to submit bills to insurance because their billing person won't work without getting the money she is owed. NOT MY PROBLEM, but they refused to help me. Alyssa finally told me that she would email me superbills with all the information and still failed to do so. I am going to have to continue to drive over there until I get my $1,200 back! The acupuncture with James was great, but I will NEVER go back here because they just steal your money and don't care about you AT ALL. BEWARE! read more

My back was in severe pain and I came here to see if I can feel little bit better (it was to the point that I couldn't even stand) and James took me in last minute and OMG. After the treatment I was able to stand and walk! DON'T TRUST AS A WELLNESS CENTER! Unfortunately, Alyssa who runs this place is neglecting patients emails and calls about billing. We have seen James since 2024 and all was well. From the start of this year, 2025, Alyssa has dropped submitting insurance claims without letting clients know as we continue get care. We assumed all is in working order as our insurance has covered our care for over an year. Now we realize we have been charged pay out of pocket for services since the start of 2025. Alyssa has not responded to any of my emails or phone calls. It is terribly disappointing not only for clients but for her practitioners who trust her. I had to actually go into the office to even get a response from her as she tells me she is closing the office. As a small business owner myself, I am shocked at how little she cared. I stopped by here because earlier in the day I had been searching for a good acupuncture place due to a injured elbow and shoulder. I happened to be driving by and saw it so I figured I would give it a shot. I never thought needles placed in certain points on the opposite side of your body could help this much. I went in as a skeptic. I've had back pain off and on for many years, cause mostly by slipped disks from youthful foibles. I've had cortisone epidurals, chiropractic, bed rest, anti-inflammatory medicines, etc. I finally gave in and decided to try acupuncture. Great decision. I chose Dr. La for her proximity to my office (seriously...try driving more than 5 minutes with incredible sciatica pain!). Her reviews were good, her credentials were great, her website made her place looking relaxing and calming...and it's all true! Three visits with her and I'm 95% pain free. I've gone from not being able to sit long enough to drive home , a 15 minutes drive, to comfortable sitting, standing, walking. Her treatments are painless and relaxing. Her personality is calming and relaxing. She's ready with a smile and a laugh - important for putting me at ease - yet she is completely professional and reassuring. One thing I really liked - right up front she told me that if it didn't help after a couple of treatments, she wouldn't be able to help me. She didn't want to take my time and money for nothing. I would like to say I do not just go to any place I am very skeptical and I look at reviews and I research on the business and everything and Healing Roots was highly recommended in my area and I'm very glad I found them they have been AMAZING ! Alyssa has made me feel so comfortable and she was so gentle and so sweet! The first time I went I didn't feel a difference really but I did feel relaxed I fell asleep hehe but the second time I felt a slight difference the next day, I'm still going to be coming back because of my back pain I'm so glad they take insurance I wasn't even aware of this until my insurance told me that acupuncture can help with pain! I have been to the healing roots clinic twice now, the first one was done for relaxation and it was my firat time ever having needles on me, i was at first tense but i just a couple of minutes just doze off my whole body was relaxed and all my muscles just loosened up, i was so serene after that session. I had been to this facility years ago and got an email for a MLK day special. My back has been acting up this past year, lots of work stress has led to unbearable pain and tension. I had always wanted to try cupping and figured this would be a great opportunity to see what it was all about! Alyssa was an amazing practitioner, I had a wonderful experience with her. She was personable and so helpful. She explained everything to me in detail and was very kind and caring. The cupping itself was not painful in anyway- just some slight pressure. I went in for a microneedling session on my face today and I cannot wait to go back for my next treatment. Wow!! I am thoroughly impressed! I have been experiencing chronic back problem due to a rear end accident early this year. I have to say, was highly skeptical about its effectiveness.
