Unique. Pretty. Delightful. This little treasure trove of fashions and goodies is one of my new favorite shops in Atlanta. I first heard about it on the Daily Candy website which was promoting their big bi-annual warehouse sale. I was intrigued by the description of indie crafts and gifts, so I decided to stop in one saturday evening with my friend. The store itself is open and bright with pretty displays divided up by designer. The handmade skirts, the endearing local stationary printed with ATL neighborhoods, the stunning colored glass earrings, the heavenly scented soaps and body lotions...you can tell that each designer has been carefully selected for their charming creations. I fell for the beautiful stationary by Jane Hancock papers and ended up buying a lovely red dress with a floral applique by LK Clothing (marked down from $60 to $20!). I was very tempted by the vintage jewelry bin and many of the elegant jewelry displays, but I restrained myself. Not only were the items well made and beautiful, but the staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They offered suggestions on where to find certain items and what accessories paired well together. It is apparent that the employees are very passionate about the products that they carry which is always the best form of advertisement. This shop is perfect for gifts - for loved ones and for yourself. Although the sale is what brought me into the shop in the first place, I will most certainly be returning for their regularly priced merchandise. It is simply irresistible! read more

After wishing Scoutmob's max discount were $500, I settled on a silver necklace called "Disco Headdress." Hopefully the title will evoke images of its awesomeness. I didn't realize that the woman behind Imal-Inaj jewelry owns this place. I bought one of her pieces at the Oakhurst Festival a couple falls ago and noticed several other festival vendors' baubles amongst the tables and shelves. It's cool that a shop touting local artists' work sits in a shopping center with a bunch of ol' chains. read more

If I could give this place six stars, or seven, or ten! I totally would. This is one of my favorite local retailers in the entire city. The store is beautiful and is home to a wide variety of crafty, unique items created by local Atlanta and Georgia artists. It's like a one-stop shop for all things crafty and cute. You can easily get all your holiday shopping done by swinging by, getting a couple adorable "Made In Georgia" onesies for the tots in your life, a neato thin tie for the professional, a fancy-pants creative smelling candle for your mother-in-law (because it's hard to buy for her, but anyone would love those damn candles), some hot steve salt for the experimental chef in your life, plus jewelry,hair accessories, clothes!, t-shirts, prints, everything. If you can't find a gift for every person you know at Beehive, then some of your pals must be really boring. Also, what's awesome about the Beehive, is that you can buy odds and ends for your own projects. I got a bunch of random things to make an Advent calendar for my son, and to decorate an Oscar the Grouch pumpkin for a pumpkin decorating contest - and their yarns, scrap fabric, and crafty whatnots are a great value for the price. I went to this store two times in ONE day. Now, I only purchased during one of my trips, but browsed during both. This is a cutsie LOCAL boutique that has really JAZZY phat stuff. I purchased tons of stuff for me and 1 item for each family member that I was traveling with/visiting during this trip. From the jewelry, to the soaps, clothes, loose leaf teas - this spot just has it ALL. And the best thing is that their sales are truly sales. I love love love my funky clothing and statement pieces. Typically, boutique stores aren't really my thing. I find that items are often overpriced compared to what I am comfortable paying. I've walked past The Beehive a gajillion times, honestly. My boyfriend's sister gave me a great pair of earrings that came from the shop, so when I found myself in the shopping center today with a little bit of time, I figured there could be no harm in stopping in. No harm, except to my bank account. Wait...but everything was amazingly well-priced! Granted, they are currently holding their Warehouse Sale, meaning many items are 40%-90% off, but still. Even the normal prices weren't bad! I walked out with a pair of earrings, a small piece of wood block art, a swaddling blanket, a baby t-shirt, and a letterpress card, all for less than $40. There is a little bit of everything here, although my boyfriend didn't find much to look at, so I just met him at the bookstore when I was done. It's definitely geared a bit more towards the ladies, with bath and body products, jewelry, home goods, and baby gear. Everything was very well-made and you could read about the person who made the goods at each little station. I probably could've wandered the store for another hour, just looking around! I can imagine I will find myself making excuses to pop back in here, now that I know what I've been missing out on for so long! I'm not sure if it's a blessing or a curse that I'm about to move in walking distance from the shop. I'll stick with blessing. read more

Love this store. Love the concept of supporting local artists. Selection is good but could be more diverse. Not enough of a selection of gifts for the men in my life. My biggest issue is twice now I've stopped by to get a gift for a brunch date and even though the door sign says they open at noon...and its 12:15, door is still locked and lights out. So you lose a star for unreliable hours. Why bother even posting hours on the door? All that said I'm sure I'll be back. read more

Great shop with countless local gifts! In addition to a beautiful and unique jewelry selection, The Beehive has clothing, lotions, art, candles, food and more from local purveyors. While some pieces are on the pricer side -- for local artists, the prices are very reasonable compared to what you would find at art fairs, craft markets or online shops like Etsy. I've gone to The Beehive on several occasions to find gifts for friends and family and have never left disappointed -- and usually not without a gift for myself as well. read more

LOVE this place. This is exactly the kind of shop I've wanted to open for a little while now, and walking in here just makes me happy. I just got done with the Sewing 101 weekend course, and it was so fun! Hectic, and difficult, but really really fun. The instructors were very nice, and very good at what they do (although you can tell they basically have opposite styles of sewing and all that goes into it). They're still working out the classes to make sure everything's appropriate for the students' level, but I think they did really well this time. And they were very patient with their "special" student (me). No matter what kind of artsy/crafty thing I attempt, my project always ends up looking like it was completed by a 3rd grader. C'est la vie. I can't be smart, funny, good looking, AND artistic. It just wouldn't be fair. Ha. I keep on craftin' anyway! Anyone want to buy a pair of "slightly irregular" boxer shorts? read more

SUCH a cool place. I'm glad I finally got to go there. They have a lot of different stuff and I thought of a million different things I could buy for someone else (if I had money) as gifts. Seriously, this is so a priority gift shopping place. I found earrings for my boo, jewelry for my mom, lotions for my boss, candles for me, some really cute clothes that I'm going to have to try on, and awesome handbags/wallets. There were a few things for men, but honestly it was more geared towards women - except the cupcakes, cupcakes are for everyone but the gluten challenged. *sigh* Anyway, great gift shopping and mostly fair prices. The Beehive is like a store version of Pinterest. So many cute things! It's a great spot for finding little local gifts to send to out-of-towners. Georgia barbeque sauce, postcards of each Atlanta neighborhood, coasters, bags, etc. All locally made. I don't frequent the Beehive, but I've gone to their semi-annual sale a few times. One word for the sale: CRAY. Crowds of DIY/home decor/local arts-loving people (mostly women) squeezing through the store's tiny aisles. My advice is to go later in the day. Some things will be already sold, but you won't have to deal with the headache of crowds of people. read more

I saw a ring at this boutique and couldn't get it out of my mind after having it left it a few days ago. This is how I know a really good place to shop when I see one. I love supporting independent artists and designers and I love buying pieces that are unique and one-of-a-kind (well as close as you can get) and that's exactly what this place supports. There are so many different things to choose from, you want to walk around a few times so that you don't miss any of the items. I'll definitely be back when I need another jewelry fix or when I want to get a cute gift for a friend. They also have specialty teas made by a really cool woman that are very pleasing to the palate.The additional benefit is that often the salesperson is one of the artists in the co-op you can meet the people who design and make the items you love. I may try some of the classes, it seems like a cool place to get your craft on and hang out with other crafty people. read more

Unfortunately, I am usually limited to the cheaper side of things, but if you have the extra cash... you should definitely go support your local artists and find something that you can't get a a department store! I adore Beehive! I've been taking sewing classes from Deborah Moebes for a couple of years, who is amazing by the way. She is extremely talented, knows everything about sewing and is a fantastic teacher. When I first began the sewing classes, I always arrived early enough to do some shopping and I love what the artists have to offer. The clothes are great--most of the pieces have a vintage look about them, especially the clothing for children. But my favorite thing about Beehive is the fabulous jewelry. I love going to Beehive when I need to buy someone a gift because I know it will be unique, and I like supporting local artists and small business. Don't miss the warehouse sales that they do once or twice a year. Great bargains. read more

I came in here for one it their sewing classes. The class was $45, and the teacher was very helpful and generous. I highly recommend the sewing classes. We got 20% off for the evening, and I perused the wares. There were clothes, jams, jewelry, home goods, art, and many nice things. I could let myself truly appreciate the jewelry because I have to do some judicious pruning at home, but I will return after I think my current belongings to a manageable level. But when I visited recently and talked with her about some challenges in my life, she listened compassionately and really made my day. I am grateful. So ridiculously adorable. This little co-op features local artists. It's mostly female oriented - alot of women's clothing and jewelry - but there are some great things for the fellas too, so don't pass this up. I bought a cute little ceramic tile to hang up in my room and it was relatively inexpensive for the quality and the craftsmanship. The sales associate was one of the artists! She had made a dress and a jacket that were on display. Super friendly and extremely talented. I had no idea this store was around but I'll be poking my head in sometime soon to see what more pieces they might bring in. Check it out! read more

When traveling, places like The Beehive are the EXACT kind of places I love to shop! I was in Atlanta with my chicks, checking out Little Five Points. Daphne A. found The Beehive on Yelp, so after exploring that area, we made our way here. All five of us quickly made our way to explore the store. Jewelry, clothes, other accessories, art, candles, beauty and spa products, greeting cards... The list goes on. There were all sorts of great things to buy here. Even cooler, they come from local craftspeople! VERY cool. They also had a sewing class going on here when we visited. If I lived locally, I'd definitely check out their different offerings. In the meantime, my friends and I all left with some amazing unique souvenirs! (I got a great lariat necklace I wear regularly, a lip balm that has become one of my favorites, and a perfect magnet of the "Big Chicken" in Marietta.) Far too tempting! I thought I was going to be safe since much of the stuff at the front when I was there was kids clothing and toys. But then we found the jewelry. And I was hooked. I got two pieces, and they cost me pretty much all my monthly mad money budget, but they're lovely and make me smile, so they're worth every penny. It so refreshing to buy stuff that isn't mass produced. Isn't that the point of jewelry anyway? And I love that the people working there no so much about the artisans whose wares they're peddling. While I wish that the prices were lower, unlike the luxury chains, I know that the price is worth the effort and love that went into each item. read more

My friend brought me here so we could buy one of our friends a gift since she was going back to school for the year. This is a really fantastic gift/clothing/jewelry boutique, featuring items exclusively from local artists! I've gotten countless xmas and other presents here, for myself and others - most recently a felted crossbody purse made from upcycled wool sweaters - adorable, with the original embroidery! They have a great selection of cards and stationery, much of it letterpress (my favorite), from kitchy to risque to elegant. There's tons of jewelry in just about every style/media imaginable. Love this place, this concept, and the products they carry. Over the last three years I've shopped at Beehive for unique gifts for baby showers, jewelry for myself, and soaps for my house. I've always been happy but my most recent visit prompted me to write this review. My husband and I went to Beehive to buy earrings for his sister as a present for being a grooms(wo)man in our wedding. We didn't find quite what we wanted but the woman at the desk worked with us to put us in touch with one of the designer whose pieces we liked. The designer crafted exactly what we wanted, within a week and a half, and emailed us the proofs during the process. Highly recommend the Beehive! read more
