I go into the bee hive at least once a week and I've never gotten anything but the best. The service is great, you walk up, take your order and they are more than happy to help with any question. Best part about it- you can actually watch them make your latte or baking more wonderful desserts in the back. I love the coffee shop atmosphere but it's also a place you can eat any meal of the day! Soups, sandwiches, salads, coffee, desserts AND MORE!? But wait... they also have a market side with local products including grass fed beef, free range chicken eggs! On the dry goods side they have honey, gluten free baking mixes, yummy beverages and an entire wall that features local artists work, goats milk soap, lotion, candles, jewelry, cards and so much more! I had the Nutella Latte and shared a honey shortbread cookie with my friend and both were awesome (and I am not an avid coffee drinker). The decor and overall feel is very fresh and clean, but not too sterile or corporate - it still has that hometown feel. I thought the prices were very reasonable for what was offered, too. In the past, I have always enjoyed my experience at The Beehive. Today, I was surprised when I was told that there was a $5 charge for using a credit or debit card. I have come several times in the past, and that has never been a policy. There is absolutely no signage posted, and I was informed that "It has been that way for a long time." Rather than apologizing for any inconvenience, I was treated rather rudely. When I asked if a larger bill could be broken in that case, I was met with a pretty huffy reply. I would love to continue to come, but this exchange was rather bizarre and unprofessional. read more

We were looking for a local lunch spot and found this local downtown Danville spot. We liked the cozy, clean, and welcoming atmosphere. I ordered 1/2 sandwich of the chicken artichoke sandwich with the wild rice chicken soup. The bread was slightly toasted and had an aioli spread. It was a tasty lunch meal. My wife also enjoyed her veggie sandwich with her chicken wild rice soup. We will be coming back to try some of their desserts. read more

The best place to go in Danville. It has a fun unique feel and almost feels like it belongs somewhere else. The sandwiches are basic but tasty. The highlight for me are the salads with the honey vinaigrette. I've had the coffee a few times and the little desserts are good too. Prices are a little high but it feels good to support this local gem. They have some neat locally made soaps and widgets as well as produce and wine that can be fun to browse. My only minor complaint is a wish they did more community events. Danville desperately needs more "third places" like this. read more

This was a gem of a find. A business partner invited me for coffee and I would never have suspected such a nice cafe in Danville. According to the story on the chalkboard, the cafe was started locally by a family that had gotten into local honey production and always dreamed of opening their own cafe. The cafe has an extensive array of locally produced goods including, of course, honey. I just had the Autumn Tea with Honey as I was not feeling so well that day . I was looking for a quiet and comfortable place for a late lunch on a day off and The Beehive was the perfect choice. I'm not sure I would call this a market, but in terms of a cafe it's perfect. I had the grilled cheese and the white bean chili. Both were excellent! The environment here is very welcoming and full of natural light. Just a nice place to sit and relax. They have a small market supporting the area's food products. It's clean, spacious, and has wonderful natural light for a good read. The owner is always friendly, as well as the other staff when they are there: This is what this community needed, bringing a city coffee house and cafe feel to a small town--I will continue to support it! For Danville, IN, this little cafe is a Godsend. They have some great hot sandwiches, along with a decent variety of smoothies, salads, and sodas. A few comfy chairs and tables if you want to sit and read. Great place for doing homework or going to coffee with friends. Great small business with good food and excellent service. My favorite here are their soups, although their sandwiches are also very good. It also has locally grown, raised, and manufactured products. Of course many of these are honey related. They also have a large variety of baked sweets, which can be a real diet buster if you can't exercise self control. My favorite is the caramel chocolate brownie, but it is rich enough that I have to share it or save some for later. Had a rather disappointing dinner here this evening. I ordered the veggie melt that was supposed to have spinach, artichoke, provolone, roasted tomato and herb aioli. What I got was a rather tasteless creation with very few ingredients on a big piece of bread with aioli. I opened the sandwich up and there was literally one small piece of artichoke on one half of the sandwich and maybe 2-3 small pieces on the other, no tomato that I could see at all and a few small spinach leaves. On a brighter note, the caramel chocolate brownie and coffee I ordered were good, but with limited vegetarian options, I had hoped the sandwich would be better. read more

Home made, wholesome food - salads, sandwiches, soups, and of course desserts! Full espresso bar, and now even craft beer and wine.
