What a cute, quaint place! I felt like I was transported to a London pastry shop from the 80s when I walked through the door. We went for dinner on a Friday night, which is the only night they offer dinner. It was pretty slow, but I think this is more of a breakfast/brunch spot. The dinner options did not disappoint though! They do have beer, wine, and cocktails (my mule was delicious!!) I ordered the Philly sandwich and my fiance ordered a cheeseburger. There were only 2 people there, I believe they were the owners. Literally heard the stove light up and they started to cook our food!! This meal was absolutely DELICIOUS and did not disappoint. The prime rib on the sandwich was cooked perfectly. Also, the bun I overheard is from a local bakery. Let me tell you, this is one of the best breads I've ever had. Really puts an extra special "umph" on the food. We can't wait to come back and try brunch here soon! The patio is pup friendly, so will definitely be bringing our greyhound furchild!!

We were in for breakfast around 10a.m. This little restaurant was so sweetly decorated. I felt like I was in a French bistro or in a high tea establishment in England. The atmosphere was friendly and the owners hospitable. The menu was diverse and had all the fresh ingredients I like in a breakfast meal out. We will definitely be back for lunch and dinner in the upcoming weeks to try out the menu.

This is the perfect place to grab a delicious breakfast or lunch! Sitting outside is my favorite although the inside of the restaurant is beautiful! Good place for a date or to relax with friends! Great selection of coffee and teas not to mention tasty food - breakfast or lunch!

Historic charm warm friendly atmosphere. Short menu but everything is good. Worth stopping in just to see the architecture and meet the friendly staff.

This is a quaint restaurant on the Danville Square. I visited here for brunch and it was not busy at all with plenty of seating. There are also a few small tables for a party of two outside. I enjoyed a mimosa and the spinach quiche which was delicious. The vibe is very quaint and quiet. The menu had good options and plenty to choose from to leave you satisfied. Overall a pleasant experience, and I would try again but not a MUST!

Hidden alert! I don't know if I've seen a more cute place in Hendricks County. Court House Grounds is across the street from the Danville courthouse. It's a local business that sells coffees, teas, and breakfast foods. I stopped by and got a cappuccino to-go and a banana nut muffin and I was entranced by the beauty of the place. The owner was nice and let me know what he serves the tea and coffee in cute antique cups. I will definitely have to stop by and get a full meal here.

I stopped here on a rainy day and was greeted by a man seated near the entrance at one of the small tables there. He asked if I was there for coffee or food and let me know the coffee was self-serve (tea cups, not styrofoam/paper). I decided to go ahead and dine in and grabbed a spot at another table. Fortunately, there was a menu on the table already as I waited for signs of someone to take my order. The restaurant is long and narrow (shotgun) and has a quaint look with lots of china/decoration adorning the space and tablecloths. After another guest came in, who was also greeted by the man seated near the entrance, the man got up and brought me water and asked what I wanted to eat. I gave him my order of a half turkey club sandwich and a side salad and then helped myself to a cup of coffee. It was very odd that he sat there while I waited (several minutes). I've never experienced anything like it. Turns out he was one of the owners. After that unusual start, the food plate came out rather quickly and looked great. The side salad looked fresh and colorful with mixed greens, but leaves where full sized and needed to be cut before eating. I did like that the dressing came on the side. The half turkey club had turkey, bacon, and cheese on toasted white bread, and though the sandwich was okay, it lacked any condiments or seasoning to add layers to the sandwich. So, it was okay, but not something I would probably order again. I will say that the drip coffee (I got Hazelnut) was really tasty and ready to drink right away which I appreciated because of the damp chill in the air from a January rain. The space was quiet and inviting. Just needs a little tweaking to service/taste. When finished, I simply went to the counter by the pastry options and let the man and another staff member (he showed up about half way through my visit) know I was ready to check out instead of waiting for a bill to be brought to me. That seemed to work well. I would suggest that this is a place to visit if you aren't in a rush to get anywhere. Maybe a place for meeting a friend and spending time chatting. They do have alcohol for evening dining and offer breakfast options for morning folks as well. Review #3527

However, on a recent trip back to visit my parents' grave, I finally got the chance to stop in and check it out for a bit. Central Normal Tap is basically a laid-back, charming pub and grill with solid dining options, craft beer, spirits, and a terrifically friendly vibe. I'm not sure if terrifically is really a word, but I'm sticking with it. Located on the east side of the Danville Town Square, this is a great place to hit if you're doing some visiting of the town square (and you should). It's not an all-day joint. It's really from evening into the night hours. The town square offers free parking (with accessible option). While there are stores on the square that are not accessible, Central Normal Tap is pretty darn good (some of the tables are a bit high and there are a handful of booths that have a step up). Dining options include pretzels, wings, flatbreads, and more. I didn't spend a whole lot of time here, but I enjoyed the time I spent. The vibe was a nice tapestry of smaller town charm with a modern energy. The food was tasty, and the service was absolutely top-notch. I would easily return, though I might avoid when it's super busy as I could imagine accessibility being a bit more challenging just due to the layout. For those who wonder (I love origin stories), the name comes from Central Normal College, a former college that moved from Ladoga, Indiana to Danville, Indiana in the 19th century and lasted until just after World War II. It's a part of Danville/Hendricks County history (you can learn more about it at the Hendricks County Museum).

The Whisk has been on our road trip list for awhile, and we finally went with some friends. Greencastle has never been high on my priority list of places to visit, but I'd heard rumors about "The Whisk" being a great place to visit for whisky lovers like myself. And the rumors were true! Walking up to The Whisk...well, that doesn't happen. You have to walk down some stairs that are nondescript, giving the entrance a very old fashioned speakeasy vibe. I immediately fell in love. It feels like a secret club that I'm a part of! The decor is big city speakeasy vibe and lets you know immediately that regardless of shoe you are, you're welcome at the Whisk (see some of the pictures of the decor). We went on a Friday because they have a dinner menu only on Fridays and it changes every week. Tosh and her husband, Joel, are the co-owners and curators of all the food and cocktails. Although there are always small plates on the menu, the full menu complete with dessert was exactly what we wanted. The presentation and flavors of the dinner and drinks felt like being in Chicago or New York, not Greencastle! It was a delightful anachronistic experience. The blackened catfish and The Ghost whisky cocktail were some of the best things I've ingested in a long time. I can't wait to go back!

Our server Emily was cheerful and informative. A parking garage across the street served us well for dining at this restaurant and attending an event at Hendricks Live across the street. The shrimp cocktail appetizer featured fresh large shrimp with dollops of horseradish on the plate and a nice sauce. I enjoyed the steak frites entree, a generous portion of steak perfectly cooked, served with a delicious broccolini and tasty fries. My sister ordered the chicken marsala and noted that she would have liked more sauce, and the truffle potatoes were delicious. My brother said his huge pork chop was perfect, and my sister in-law recommended the sirloin steak. We had reservations and were seated at a high top table, which is not my preferred way to dine but the restaurant was full so we didn't ask to be moved. We had a bit of a wait for our entrees and chalked that up to it being Saturday night. There is a separate bar area and rooftop dining with igloos available.

Eh, fell a bit short for me…read more The ambiance and vibes are great! Service was great as well!! The food is where it fell short for me. I drove an hour to visit this place and saw lots of good reviews. I started off with a lemon drop and a snack short rib eggroll. The lemon drop was watery and just did not hit like I would have hoped (I'm a lemon drop girly). They do use Titos as their well so that was good. The egg roll was dry- you definitely need to dip in the wasabi aioli to make it palatable. Next up were the buffalo chicken hush puppies. I like the idea here. The inside was moist and flavorful and the outside was kind of dry and drizzled with what I think was ranch. They were ok. I have a Ceaser salad add chicken and "fried" Brussels sprouts. The salad was suppose to come the onions , there were none so the waitress brought me some. The salad was mid at best and the chicken was dry and unflavored. I asked for some spicy ranch and that saved the salad! The Brussels sprouts were pretty good. My friend had the potato soup and said it was very watery (not creamy at all). I enjoyed the live music and overall vibe but good was average. Parking is an issue as well. There is parking in the rear or a parking garage but not super convenient parking.
