Crazy surprise, the best coffee I've ever had in a church! O ye of little faith, now I believe. What an amazing assortment of massive kids play area, desks and tables without an outlet oddly, thankfully the coffee bar had them. No Hebrews here they were all women baristas. My worst joke ever in a review, thank you. The peanut butter and jelly cold foam latte was John 3:16 for espresso verse. Rich creamy gooey berry notes floating over the curious combination of bean and bean. And yes, coffee and peanuts are both beans. That is also the smartest I've gotten in a review. I will definitely drop in again on my way to a random retirement center gig should I get this way again. It is a fun place, open big atmoshere with children playing is noisy but I have put up with worse.

Their rotating soups and baked goods are always delicious and fresh! Today, we had the chicken noodle soup with half a chicken bacon ranch sandwich, and a build your own breakfast sandwich. Both were great! The staff are always nice, and the custom mural and decor were made by local artists! They also sell local honey in various sized containers ranging from a small squeeze bottle to a half gallon container. It's a charming and welcoming place!

Today, I spent some time clearing out my father's home and helping my nephew, who'd been staying with him prior to his death, settled in a new residential situation. As I was driving through Danville on the way home, I stopped at the town square and decided to have a late lunch in the area. To be honest, I headed first to Square Burger. However, as a wheelchair user I was dismayed to see a step into their establishment. No go. I wasn't in the mood for Mayberry Cafe despite my love for the place. I looked over and realized this was a great chance to check out The Beehive. The Beehive is just off the square and shares a building with Two Guys Pies. The US 36 entrance is not wheelchair friendly, however, the back entrance has a nice concrete ramp (I did find the sidewalk a bit narrow - I noticed as I entered here that had I desired to visit Two Guys Pies there was a bicycle on the sidewalk that would have easily blocked my access). This is an attractive building. The Beehive has been here a little over 10 years. I'm not sure I'll describe The Beehive accurately - it's sort of a coffeehouse meets breakfast/lunch joint where you can also get fresh, local honey and other frozen goods to take out. They do catering and offer deli sandwiches, beer/wine carryout, a build your own salad menu, local meat and produce, and the aforementioned frozen goods. They also have a small retail area where you can buy honey, t-shirts, and other items. A good amount of their sweets utilize honey instead of sugar. I parked on the square in one of their accessible spots (parking is free, up to 5 hours for accessible parking but only two hours for others). I wheeled around the building - someone was planting plants/flowers and was super friendly and stopped his work to make sure I could get through). They close at 4pm on Saturdays - I arrived about 3ish. I ordered one of their combos that included a 1/2 sandwich, chips, and a drink. They do have unsweetened iced tea, fountain drinks, and a variety of canned/bottled drinks (including Choc-ola!). They also have a ton of coffee/latte type options. I found the prices to be reasonable. This is especially true given these are healthier options (though certainly not everything here qualifies as "healthy."). The employees were friendly. They were quiet, however, service was quite good. I loved the atmosphere. I had zero issues finding a wheelchair friendly table. I could independently reach everything I needed, though I'm sure they'd have assisted if needed. This wasn't a mind-blowing experience. It was simply a really good lunch in a pleasing atmosphere at a fair price. After an emotional experience like clearing out my family home (which isn't yet done), this was a great way to relax and calm the emotions. I enjoyed the sandwich, which is toasted, and they had Miss Vickie's potato chips. I'm not sure why it took me so long to stop here, however, I'd easily return for the simple yet wonderful menu, great drinks, warm atmosphere, and friendly employees.

The food, service and atmosphere are all incredible. Our fave dishes are the cinnamon roll French toast and smoked salmon omelette. We get them and split them so we both get sweet and savory breakfasts! The CRFT is always cooked perfectly, never soggy and doesn't need any syrup. The smoked salmon omelette over flows with smoked salmon and creamy dill sauce, it's to die for. Stop in for breakfast or lunch, you won't be disappointed!

We split a bowl of soup and they kindly served it in separate bowls for us, which I appreciated. The soup of the day was corn chowder and wow, I was surprised how good it was, I do love soups. I'd never tried corn chowder before, but it was creamy, flavorful, and comforting. I ordered the half salad/half sandwich combo. The smoked salmon niçoise salad had a blend of interesting flavors and the dressing paired perfectly with it. For the sandwich, I chose the BLTEA, and unfortunately this was the disappointing part of the meal. The avocado on it was clearly overripe/bad, so dark, mushy, and it gave the sandwich an unpleasant taste. I removed as much as I could, but it still affected the flavor. It was a bummer because this spot usually tastes very fresh. I've had it before and the avocado was fresh, along with the orchard salad which I loved. I would say the orchard salad is my fave. They make their dressings homemade and the dressing for the orchard salad was delicious. The service was still very friendly, and since they were slammed busy, I didn't feel like making a fuss about it. Everything else we had was enjoyable. The inside is small and quaint since it's a house turned restaurant, so it has a cozy but lively ambiance when crowded. One of the best perks here is definitely the made from scratch desserts. I love checking out the dessert case because the staff will happily explain each option and answer questions. There's something oddly satisfying about watching them slice the desserts too. I took a lemon cheesecake to go and absolutely loved it. I've also tried the blackberry wine cake which is a staple and delicious. A seasonal dessert that was really good was the pumpkin pie. You really can't go wrong with home made desserts here.

I stopped at Mayberry Cafe for dinner, however, I'd spied Danville Dips when I parked on the town square and decided rather than ordering dessert I'd wheel over to Danville Dips to check it out. Danville Dips is located down the block from the Royal Theater. Parking is available streetside or along the square with 2-hour time limits for most parking spots. As a side note, disabled parking spots have a 5-hour time limit. This allows you to really visit the square and its increasingly cool businesses. Danville Dips is locally owned. The minute I arrived, I felt comfy. While I would call the entrance accessible, I'll note that there's a bit of an incline to get into Danville Dips. I was able to open the glass door and wheel myself up the incline (NOTE: I am a wheelchair user). However, those with upper-body difficulties may need assistance. Danville Dips is bright yet also has lots of wood. It's a unique design I really liked. There's booths along both sides of the wall and a surprising amount of empty space. As you go toward the back, you'll see the ordering counter. They also have a side room you can rent. Danville Dips is an ice cream shop, of course, but they also do carry sandwiches and such. They have sandwiches, hard dip, drinks, specials, sundaes, floats, and a few other items. Despite it being only in the 40s today, I was still in the mood for ice cream. I for the life of me can't remember the name of the flavor I got - something along the lines of a brownie/chocolate concoction. Whatever it was called, it was a delight. The serving size was also more generous than expected. By the way, I have to mention. There was a group of for young women sitting at a table when I arrived. They enthusiastically greeted me when I arrived and did so with a sincerity that was refreshing. I have no idea who they were - associated with the place? Friends of employees? Who knows? They were awesome. They did the same thing when I left. They had no idea I'd just lost my father and had just spent the afternoon cleaning out the house - but their heartfelt welcome nearly brought me to tears. Ultimately, I really loved this place. The atmosphere is welcoming. The employees were friendly. Those four people? Icing on the ice cream cake. This town square has several stores worth exploring along with Mayberry Cafe, the Royal, a coffeeshop, a burger joint, and an art gallery. Danville is an easy drive west and easily worth it. Even saw a little boy with a push up! So there is something for everyone.
