Great food and baked goods nice atmosphere. Like Panera but better. The cheeseburger soup was the die for!

I've been here a long time ago. It was a nice place then and has added more now. It's located close the to Hendricks County Courthouse close to the town square. It's very warm and welcoming. They use local honey in some of their recipes. They make all their salad dressings from scratch. Cilantro lime vinaigrette, ranch, honey lemon, red wine vinaigrette, and honey mustard. The "Hive Salad" is what I ordered and it comes with the honey lemon dressing. I'm taking it to work with me tomorrow and looking forward to seeing how it tastes. The salad came in a nice container with a lid instead of the standard styrofoam container. They offer soups, sandwiches, and serve breakfast all day! I chose the pecan pie bar also. It was hard to choose because the no bake cookies, and the peanut butter cookies, which were so fluffy looked tempting! They have a little shop if you want to buy local honey or other Indiana made products. The girl behind the counter was helpful and very friendly. Next time I will try the peanut butter cookie. This restaurant has a friendly vibe and a nice selection of breakfast and lunch items with a healthy leaning menu. I stopped by for lunch on Thursday. There is limited parking on the west end of the building and some additional parking behind the building on the south side (which does not require climbing stairs to enter). The inside looks cool with the counter and large board menu on the east end, eight tables for in house dining in the center, and store shelves of honey and other items on the west end. A couple comfy chairs are on the north end and on the south, more comfy chairs sit before a fireplace, which was going since it was only 35 degrees outside. I placed my order and paid at the counter before selecting one of the smaller tables. By ordering the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo, I got a drink selection included with the combo. The drinks are self serve on the left side of the counter. I selected the turkey club sandwich (half) that comes with a crisply grilled bread, turkey, bacon, aioli, spinach, tomato, and cheddar cheese. Very tasty! I opted for the Roasted Butternut Squash soup, one of three soups available that day. It was served steaming hot and needed some time to cool, so I worked on my sandwich first. The sandwich included plenty of aioli which moistened the bites without ruining the crispness of the bacon. The tomato was a little under ripened, but that is common around Indiana in early December. The taste overall was very enjoyable. Once the soup cooled, the flavor came out and I must say it was quite appetizing. A thick cut slice of baguette (?) accompanied the soup, so that once I got to the bottom of the cup, I could get the last bit of the soup by mopping with the soft inside bread. The system for the restaurant seems to keep the flow moving, but I could see it becoming crowded with such a limited number of tables. Also, there wasn't any clear line that formed, so some people where standing right next to the dining tables while they made up their minds what they would select. Hand pies. Get your savory hand pies here. These baked, hand-sized pies are capital D Delicious! They have various pies filled with meats, vegetables, cheeses and sauces. My favorite so far is the mushroom, spinach, potato and feta hand pie. Rich and very filling. With all that said, they also serve freshly made salads, soups and sandwiches. Besides being a cafe, they're also a market offering some fresh fruits & vegetables, gourmet food items, and a cold case with cheeses and salamis, etc. And, they're a coffee/espresso & tea shop. I went to the Bee Hive about a week ago. The Bee Hive is a cute little café in my hometown, Danville. It is a café aimed towards organic and natural food sales. It is very spacious and cozy. It has a fireplace, Wi-Fi, and lots of seating: couches and tables. I was greeted immediately after entering the Bee Hive, a young girl came out and helped me out with learning the menu and gave me a list of the guest favorites. I ordered the Nutella latte and a caramel brownie. I told her to only add one shot of espresso instead of two, seeing that I am not a fan of bitter taste. She made my Nutella latte and grabbed by brownie. She also heated the brownie up so it would taste fresh. I paid for my two items and was a little taken back by the price. The price was a little high but I didn't mind because it was my first time. I took my items home and tried the brownie, it was a little too bitter and rich for my taste but the Nutella latte was very good, had a nice flavor. I would definitely go back again and try a different dessert. I had my eye on the Honey Pecan Bar. I liked the atmosphere of the café and I liked the staff. I was overall impressed and I can't wait to try something new when I go back. read more

Perfect little cafe/bistro place. I love the variety in sweets and lunch specials. It can be a little pricey with all the add-ons, but it is definitely worth it! I always want to try something new each time I go and the only thing that gets me disappointed is the hole in my wallet (because I keep getting way too much food!) Found this while we were out enjoying the day and ended up in Danville and searched places to eat. Very cozy and relaxed atmosphere. We split the soup and sandwich meal. Soup was a beef vegetable and was loaded with good stuff. Definitely fresh and not canned. The little Italy sandwich was really good especially their tomato spread they put on in. Usually, I have had meetings over coffee here with a friend , but today, I had no breakfast so I was almost - ALMOST ready to run through a drive through. Glad I didn't subject myself to "Corporate slop!" It was lunch hour so I went for a hot sandwich and since I am unable to eat large amounts at a time, I took advantage of their option for half sandwiches. I chose this: Little Italy -Salami, ham, pepperoni, provolone, lettuce, roasted tomato spread, red onion spread, oregano and aioli It came out nicely toasted and hot with the roll being crispy and the inside soft and warm. You will be covered in crumbs, but just brush them off! The inside fillings were just right and no one flavor overpowered to whack your tastebuds. The meats, cheese, spreads, oregano and aioli all played well together and combined into one very harmonious treat. I would skip the romaine lettuce, which was fresh and green but with the heat of the other fillings "limped out." I'm sure it would be great on a cold sandwich, but not a hot one. With a small soda (in environmentally favorable paper cups w/o plastic straws), it came to $7.09 w/ tax. There are combos available for those with bigger appetites that bundle chips, side salads, soups and other sides. I usually buy honey made from small producers in Indiana, but I've never needed any when I've been to the Beehive. It is far more expensive than the "Chinese honey" that is bulk imported into the US and then filled into those plastic bears - all so they can say "Product of USA." The prices, though are commensurate with local honey I've purchased at farmer's markets and other stores. They also have other items including wines (but I didn't have time to peruse through them). The Beehive is more than just a sandwich shop and perhaps I can try some of their breakfast and non-sandwich meal items in the future. PLEASE - SHOP LOCAL when you can. The flavor was good, but highly overpriced. The portion of meat in my sandwich was pathetic. The restaurant was very slow, and yet the tables were left dirty. The bathroom was not clean, and when I said something, the employees audibly mocked me as I walked away. This establishment appears, on the only time I will go here, to be poorly managed. read more

This is the cutest little place and brings a nice spot to hang in Danville. I've been here a couple of times and grabbed a coffee and a baked good. They have a wide variety of coffee options ranging from plain to fancy (I went for a mocha). It was really good; better than Starbucks in my opinion. The brownie I had was to die for and I was definitely in a sugar coma when it was gone. There is a cute little "market" area inside as well. There are homemade dog treats, some fresh produce, canned goods (homemade salsa, spaghetti sauce, etc) and some cheese. Definitely a great little area to pick up some unique items that aren't at your regular grocery stores! The staff was a little unorganized when I was there and seemed a little frantic/distracted even when it seemed hag business was slow. This is always a little frustrating to me when going to a restaurant or coffee shop. But I will give them the benefit of the doubt because everything was pretty great and homemade, which we always need more of! They were definitely skimpy on the chicken salad today, even after I spread it out a little, I didn't have chicken salad with every bite. The Beehive in Danville is one of my go-to locations for coffee and work when I need to get out of the house for the day. They have a big selection of great drinks, baked goods, and even some store items. It really is a great place that I regularly work at when I'm in town. Sadly, they don't offer any gluten-free options for anyone that needs them. Obviously, you can still get drinks, and great drinks at that, but that's it. I know other smaller establishments that offer more flexible dining options for people that require it medically, so one star down for that. Also, one star down for a $5.00 minimum on card purchases because I don't have this experience anywhere else, and if you are a single customer and just looking to grab a coffee you can't without upgrading your purchase. This makes a trip more expensive than Starbucks for real reason at all. Overall, it's a great place. I would 5 the Beehive for sure if the two downfalls could be fixed. read more

When the Beehive first opened, they prepared sandwiches off site as well as other selections. Now they cook and assemble in house. Their food is great now. Fresh and prepared to order. Good value as well. The venue is relaxed and friendly. They also feature fresh local grown produce and gourmet packaged food items most of which are only available at their location. The staff is friendly and efficient as well. I wouldn't drive 30 miles to have lunch or dinner here, but it is a fine place for locals. Love this place for what it represents in unique Danville who struggles between "tradition" and "progress". Locally sourced products, pretty amazing coffee and freshie fresh menu items. This is a great local joint in Danville. It's like walking into a local Panera Bread where things are actually local and more homemade. All the ingredients are fresh and made right behind the counter. They have a delicious rotating soup of the day and amazing desserts. They also have rotating frozen yogurt and homemade savory hand pies. Oh, and to top it all off, they sell some local produce and grass-fed beef. The produce includes milk, eggs, tomatoes, etc. The also sell their own honey produced on a family farm owned by the same people. Knowing that I am supporting a local family and eating healthy food just makes me fell all warm inside :-) read more

Oh Beehive! I drive by this place nearly every weekend in the summer, and literally each time I have looked over to my husband and said "I really want to go there some time." Well this weekend was the "some time" I had been waiting for. This place seems like it belongs in Indianapolis ratehr than tucked into a small building in Danville. I really loved the vibe I got walking in. It was rather early on a Sunday morning, and the staff greeted us with smiles and asked us if we had any questions about the menu. The only question I had was how fast can I get that cinnamon roll I'm eyeing into my belly. The Beehive has a great selection and is sure to please almost anyone. They have delicious pastires and baked goods for breakfast, made to order soup and andwiches, fro yo with assorted toppings, any coffee drink you can imagine and a little fresh produce mart. I'm in love with The Beehive and couldn't be happier that i found this place. We visited on a Sunday around 1:00pm. It wasn't packed but there were quite a bit of people there. I tried the chicken noodle soup which was delightful-it came with a baguette and the Honeybean Latte. Let me tell you this honeybean latte is my new favorite drink, i need to have more. My boyfriend had an Italian sandwich and he really seemed to enjoy it. I wish The Beehive was in Brownsburg but I will drive to Danville for this deliciousness. Thank You Beehive! read more

What a great concept but...the staff are really incompetent, painfully slow. The floors and tables are sticky. Bathroom needed a cleaning. We ordered 2 bagels with cream cheese for takeaway. The cream cheese was in to-go containers which they put in the bag -- with spoons. People were lined up for counter service so the food must be good. Hopefully in better times for businesses you'll experience better service. read more

From scratch foods at a reasonable price. I rarely travel outside of 465, but this is worth the drive. We stopped in on a Saturday morning to pick up some sandwiches for a baseball game later that day. They had delicious hand pies that morning with sausage gravy and another with bacon and eggs. Simply amazing. I wanted 12 more. In the past we have stopped in for baked goods. Their brownie is decadent and full of flavor. They offer many local products as well from other small businesses.
