Wow!! If you like craft beers look no further! Matt, the owner/bartender was the most knowledgeable bartender and was super friendly. He hand picks the beers on tap...there were approx 40-50 taps of a variety of styles of beer including some great Belgian beers. The ambience was fun and unpretentious which is what I love. There's no kitchen (so they're dog friendly) but could order in. This is the real deal and I'll certainly be back every time I'm in Atlanta. read more

Peachtree Growler closed for the night before I could get there, so on a whim, my friend and I decided to detour to The Beer Growler in Brookhaven. I had passed this little shop quite a few times while en route to other places, but never took the time to explore. After parking on the street near One+ Sushi, I toted my empty growler to the shop in anticipation of filling up on some mead. Thank goodness for their online tap list! We made sure they had Monk's Mead on tap before heading over. There was a great deal for a discounted pint ($3, I believe?) of your choosing to enjoy while at the bar if you filled your growler, so my friend and I made sure to take advantage of that! We sampled quite a few before settling on our favorites. I got a great Scofflaw IPA, which is definitely inspiring me to visit the brewery ASAP! We were a little miffed by the bartender since he was paying the most attention to the regulars, but we got everything we needed in a mostly timely fashion. There were a couple regulars there who had brought their adorable dogs inside, which made it seem that much more neighborhood-ly. Overall, I wasn't disappointed with my experience at The Beer Growler. It's not the cheapest growler shop I've been to, but it was convenient and easy. read more

I had no idea this place was here (and I have been to most of the local shops in this strip) until a friend told me about it recently. I was on a mission and they had just what I needed. I walked in at 1pm on a Thursday and expectedly, it was empty. But I walked straight to the Frozen Pints case (beer infused ice cream) and found exactly what I was looking for! As promised (by a fabulous friend), the limited edition Terrapin ice cream. And plenty of pints at that. I grabbed two and went to the counter. What great customer service. The guy and I chatted about the place, the ice cream and how I had been on the hunt. I had credit card issues (bad strip on the back of my card, which I warned him about) and he was super patient until we both gave up and I changed credit cards for a more reliable one. The guy was so nice, I felt bad I was spending under $20. The place is beautifully decorated, nice and cozy inside - quite inviting. Not like other Growlers that seem so stark and cold. I'll definitely be back for more than ice cream next time - as I was leaving I perused the beer selections and was quite impressed. And I'm suddenly feeling parched. read more

This place is a joke. I stood inside at the bar with a growler in my hand for 15 minutes while other people who came In after me were getting served. When I finally said something the guy acted like he was going out of his way to help me because he had a "hurt toe". When he complained about his "hurt toe" I said "give me my growler back, I'll take my business elsewhere" he slammed my soaking wet Growler down on the bar in front of me filled with soapy water. Then I asked for the top back and he threw it at me. When I asked what his name was he said "go f-### yourself". I've gone there for a long time and service was never great but it was good enough. We came here on a Friday night around 10pm after grabbing dinner at Verde. We were able to grab beers within 5 minutes even with a decent crowd. Thank goodness they had print out beer menus because I couldn't read the menu on the wall. It was either the lighting of the words or I just didn't have my classes :) Luckily the girl in front of me heard me say I couldn't read it and handed me the print out. They had a huge beer selection, some of which were pretty rare and hard to find normally. They have the seats around the bar and a couple pub tables to sit at. Some people gathered outside even though there weren't any seats, but you could still stand out there with your beer. They have a dart board and some board games to play! Very cool little spot to hang out at after dinner or even for a happy hour. Grab a beer, play some games, and take a growler home with you! You pay a "down payment" for the growler and as long as you bring it back for your next refill, you don't have to pay that again. Very worth it! read more

A nice growler spot in the development on Dresden. They have about 25 taps with most of it being beer, a couple of ciders, and a few sodas. The beers are good local and national craft brands and they do a good job of rotating the taps. Dogs are welcome and they have a dart board and some board games so it's a cool spot to hang out after dinner. read more

My wife and I recently moved to Brookhaven from Ohio and we know most of the Dresden businesses well. We frequently enjoy Haven, Vero, Slice, Valenza, etc. We get our haircut at Briggs and massages at Natural Body Spa. We have previously been to The Beer Growler several times when Matt has been behind the bar and have found him helpful and friendly, and we had enjoyed our time there. Unfortunately tonight was a negative experience and likely our last at TBG. Matt was not working and instead a seemingly pleasant heavy set young woman was behind the bar along with another guy we had not seen before. The night started out fine enough...we had just eaten dinner next door and came in after for a beer and to watch the rest of game 4 of the World Series. I'm from Cleveland and was pleasantly surprised to see that not only was the game on, but the chubby female bartender was decked out in Cubs gear for her Halloween costume. My wife and I ordered a couple beers and watched the Indians clobber the Cubs for a bit. All was right in the world! A couple of young men came in, shouting multiple curse words about their college football team (one guy was wearing a dress which I can only assume was his Halloween costume, although I think he may have had some mental challenges as well). They were both obnoxious but they clearly knew the bar staff who immediately changed the tv to their college game despite the fact that we were obviously watching the World Series. There was no acknowledgement, apology, or any consideration given to us as customers who were there first and clearly watching the World Series. I was a bit flummoxed by the slight so I asked the bartender "who are these douchebags who have taken control of the tv?" Her response was, "they are friends of mine", she said with a snotty smirk, as her spare tire of a gut nearly burst the seams of her Cubs jersey. I paid my bill and left, while the kid in the dress made a smart ass comment to me as I walked by. Look, The Beer Growler is essentially a handful of shit eating millennial kids running some taps for their friends, nothing more. If you are expecting service, consideration, a friendly atmosphere...look elsewhere. My guess is that this is not a place looking to make money or be a part of the community, but rather is content catering to a handful of regulars and friends of the staff. There are too many better options nearby that are far preferable to wasting your time in this factory of sadness. Try the Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub for example. You will get great beer, but also great service. read more

Prices are high. But this is a growler store and you're here to be seen and to maybe experiment with a new kind of beer you've never tasted. People here are not that friendly except for one employee. I think they'd get a lot more business if the employees actually carried on conversations with their customers. If it wasn't for a 3 month addiction to Lexington Brewing's Kentucky Bourbon Barrel, I probably would not have returned after my first visit. Definitely a cool vibe of local craft brews and specialty ciders. Service: Top notch beer knowledgeable staff that will help you work your way through the 40+ taps to find a beer that will work out for you. Always friendly and fun. Mark, the owner, is always there to chat about beers and what else he can do to cater to his customers more - whether change the game for you or try to find a beer you have been looking for in the area. TBG offers flights and pints now which changes the whole dynamic of this place! So awesome! Beer Selection: Mark is very informed to ensure what he is offering are beers his customers cannot find around the corner. Lots of IPAs usually, with a great selection of sours and stouts. Like mentioned earlier, talk to someone at TBG and ask them to look for kegs of stuff your looking for if that is your style. If you show up here and cannot find something you want to drink or take home... then beer probably isnt your cup of tea. Definitely my go to place for a few tasters or pints on Friday-Sunday... and if I end up eating in the area, this is a must stop for pre-dinner brews! Scoutmob coupon for free 64 ounce growler container. Clean and nice looking store. The stafffer on hand when I arrived was helpful and led me to a delicious beer selection (Founders All Day IPA). I was honest and explained although I have had many many beers in my 31 years I was not sure exactly what it is I liked. After some basic Q & A it was determined that the " beer smith " or whatever it is they are called and I had similar tastes (no wheat beer or belgian style). If you're worried about prices, don't buy growlers. They're not a good bang for your buck unless you really care about getting the fresh draft taste. If the prices are high here (we didn't notice) then they're not more than a buck or two higher. It's not that significant in the grand scheme of things. The employees were helpful and friendly, which is probably the main differentiator between growler stores. That and the selection, which was good (although I would have liked to see Wild Heaven beers). read more

Love this location of the beer growler! It's become my go to spot to pick up some beer (or root beer or cold brew coffee) since the Sandy Springs location closed down. Most weekdays this location isn't too busy. There is always a nice and very helpful person working, ready to pour you a sample or give recommendations on beer selections (and some wine too!) depending on what your situation or needs are that day. Bonus is the snacks they always have for sale (I always stock up on knotty pretzels when I'm here) including some beer based iced cream! Parking is sometimes iffy in this neighborhood but if you're not here during peak hours you'll be just fine! read more

What a silly concept. I am supposed to buy an overpriced jug to fill up with a beer that I can't sample and that will go bad if I don't drink the entire jug in 24 hrs? This seems like a far stretch to me just going to the store and getting a six pack and drinking it at my leisure. The one time I attempted to go in there and inquire about the concept, the staff was incredibly rude and didn't seem to understand why I didn't know about this "trendy" idea. There is no parking and I can't envision circling the parking lot behind the building for 10 min to go in and fill a jug full of beer that I may not even like before it expires the next day. My advice would be carrying wine, much more retail beer in cases or 6 packs, and helping the customers to understand the end goal. read more

Finally got around to stopping here on my way home from work. Growlers no matter the size are $5, and they will exchange it out for a clean one the next time you come in. The actual cost for the beer is pretty inexpensive compared to some other places I've been to. You can also buy 4 and 10 oz glasses and have a drink at the bar. It's much cheaper to buy a growler (one cider was 5 for a 10 oz and 7 for a 32 oz growler) but you get half off a drink if you get growler. The guys who work there are friendly and they know their stuff. Don't know what you want? Tell them what you like and don't like and they'll find the perfect beer for you, and even give you tasters to make. They have darts and some board games to play. It's a growler store/bar hybrid, and it just works. Plus, they let people bring in food, so you can get takeout from places and eat it with your beer. Note: I haven't asked but I'm pretty sure they only serve beer, no liquor. Fine with me! read more

This is a fairly new concept to the community that I have enjoyed getting to know more about. Very friendly, knowledgable employees, nice atmosphere. Can be pricey, but most imported or "different" drinks usually are. It lasts more than 24 hrs, not sure why some think otherwise. But of course, doesn't last like a six pack! It's speciality beer, not bud light! And you can sample, just ask, you can get up to 4. This is not a trend for everyone so if it doesn't work for you, don't go. It looks like a nice growler store, with a large selection, and very nicely organized and decorated (love those big screens with the on-tap beer info.), but I didn't end up purchasing anything because of the crappy customer service on my very first time in. I purchased a "Groupon-type" voucher for this place. It expired before I could use it, however, according to the fine print I could still redeem it for the amount I for which I purchased it. I went into this store, empty growler in hand, ready to fill it up and planning to get an "expensive" beer since I'd already paid a deposit on it some months back. However, upon showing the employee my voucher he made several negative comments about it, trying to make me feel guilty for using it ("You know, we don't see any of this money"), and then, after calling the owner, refused to honor any bit of it. I walked out feeling annoyed that I bothered buying a voucher for this place when there are SO MANY MORE growler shops with nicer people, and most importantly--I walked out with no beer. So apparently they are annoyed with the voucher company they agreed to do business with, but they take it out on their customers. Beware. read more
