We sat ourselves and was attended to relatively fast. The menu was a good lunch menu. Several sandwiches salads and burgers. Plus a few other items. We chose to get a pretzel to start and wife got the cbr salad which is a chopped salad with bacon cheese croutons and chicken. She got it fried. I opted for the da brees sandwich which is slow roasted roast beef. I also got my fries the Messi way which has cheese and bacon. Fire. I only wish there was some kind of au jus with the sandwich. I know others come with it but for some reason not this one. Would have made it even better. We were both very pleased with our orders as well as the pretzel. Best pretzel I've had in a long time. And something I learned about while imbibing on the bar, Good People's has been hugely successful and has acquired a few other breweries in the local area...which means some are available on tap. My companion loved the Lemon Drop martini and said the sandwich was the best Po Boy she had had outside of her home state of Louisiana. The okra, which she kindly shared, was crisp and flavorful. It's been expanded with more options, which is great--but let's be honest, when you already have a favorite, change doesn't stand much of a chance. I stuck with my go-to: the Chicken Club. Once again, it delivered. One of the best chicken sandwiches you'll find in Tuscaloosa lives right under this roof, crispy, flavorful, and stacked just right. No regrets. No notes. The only evidence left behind was a clean plate and a messy napkin. My wife went with the Crispy Fish Sandwich, and it was equally impressive. If these sandwiches don't reach down and tickle your tummy, nothing will. That's just science. Avenue Pub is usually buzzing wall-to-wall, but thanks to some less-than-cooperative weather, we were greeted by a lighter crowd at first. That didn't last long.
