I go to this store because of convenience ( pet store and liquor store in same lot) However despite having a great selection, i will no longer be going to this establishment. I bought a mixed group of beers and ciders for myself and picked up a case of cider for friend. When dropped off case they stated they wanted just regular not flavored - so the next morning i went back to store to return for a regular cider. The clerk said they couldn't do cash exchanges - i explained wanted to just exchange for another product not get cash back. He asked if i had a receipt and i gladly showed him it. He took some time reading over the paper that wasn't even 24 hours old. And finally returned it saying he couldn't do it. He couldn't point out a no return policy sign. So despite convenience and selection i will go to the many other establishments for products. They lost a good customer. read more

Wonderful place to shop for beer! I have been to this location about 50-ish times, and they ALWAYS have what I'm looking for. Even when *I don't know* what I'm looking for. Their in-season Marzen selection is off the chain. Always something new to try. Their non-refrigerated 4/6 pack section is a marvel to behold. The staff is always very pleasant and they *really* know their stuff. It's obvious they take their jobs seriously. It can't be easy working in such a highly trafficked shop, dealing with ungrateful south silly goofballs. (Can you tell I've worked in retail?) Welcome and long time coming addition. Managed to make it in last week on their first day open. A week later, with New Years a few days away, I'm back. With Fine Wine & Goods next door, perfect way to kill two birds with one stone. It couldn't be more convenient, especially with plenty of parking. This is my favorite place to pick up beer. The variety here is AMAZING. They carry six packs and big cases and they have a refrigerator with single beers. I come get mostly for the cider selection. Every time I come I spend a half hour just trying to decide which pack I want! I'd say the prices are about as average as at any other places. read more

These guys are great based solely on their massive beer selection that I could easily justify driving across town for. But on my last couple visits the insanely good hospitality and customer service they showed me is why I'm giving this review. Some of the nicest most helpful people I have encountered while shopping. I usually don't think about writing a review in the first place unless it was horribly bad or exceptionally good but in this cases the folks over at beer peddlers were exceptionally good. Visiting friends, in South Philly. Friend told me were to go, not knowing the area. Went to the wrong place. Horrible selections, very bad attitude, plus a language problem. I was "LUCKY " to get out of this dump!! Called my friend, told me I was in the wrong store. Went around the corner to the "BEER PEDDLERS" . WOW the largest selection of craft beer, I ever seen. Beautiful store, knowledgeable staff. Cold beer,ice, singles,growers and cases. I'm older, they even carried the beer to my car. Easy parking and next to liquor store. ONE STOP SHOPPING. Selection is great. I'd give it four stars if it weren't for the bro service. We got one guy in the front tactlessly trying to force beer samples on patrons entering. When we politely said no, he rambled on about why on earth people don't want free samples and how he just doesn't get it. Whatever man, take your privilege and shove it. They had a clean and organized set up. I'll give them that. When paying, the girl cashier was cold. If you want regular beer, go and support your neighborhood corner store/bodega. If you want something special there are many other places like Moore Beverage (they are so nice and have much better selection.) I was CONNED!! The sidewalk sign in front of John's Roast Pork advertised "Beer 200' to the left", this was The Beer Peddlers. After waiting in line for 45 minutes for a vinegar flavored sandwich at John's Roast pork, I was really looking forward to a beer to get that crap taste out of my mouth. The Beer Peddlers DO NOT sell single beers!!! After finishing our sandwich we went back to The Beer Peddlers to get some Yuengling to take back home. After spending $50 on beer I asked to use the bathroom before we hit the highway. "Sorry, we don't have a bathroom. You can try the restaurant across the street". How Rude!!!! All-in-all a very disappointing visit to one of Philly's landmarks. read more

Those wanting to bash about not being able to make yr own mixasix take up pitchforks & torches w yr local Representative, (I'm looking @ you, house Republicans!), Harrisburg & the PA LCB union. That said: clean, nice place, plenty of free parking-easy access from many areas. Prices are... competitive. VERY GOOD selection of cases, halves, 15packs, ciders, and especially nice rotation of seasonals & sampler packs. ALL EMPLOYEES I've ever encountered have been friendly & welcoming w/o being pushy or overbearing. They have TVs & its a good place to relax, take yr sweet time, & mull yr options. They also have stuff on tap for growler fills & host tastings. What gets them the 5th star for me is, every time I go in, they have Soundgarden, some other Chris C. iteration, or some type of similarly awesome music on. read more

The owners and workers know their product and samples are abundant. They are huge supporters of the surrounding community with no charity unfunded or issue unattended. It's no doubt that having this beer store next to the wine store has eased my I-hate-PA-Liquor-Laws face. Honestly, before moving to Philly, I haven't had to work this hard to get booze since I was seventeen. Driving a million and one places to get stocked for Friday night just increases the drinking habit. Which, if this was the government's master plan to increase sales, then (slow clap) BRAVO. This store is fairly large but not as big as the Bella Vista Beer Distributors. It sells mostly cases and some half-cases with an excellent selection of cans. They have a few choice cases that are cold in their refrigerators for immediate consumption. When I went in, it was clear they had been hit hard for the holidays and didn't have ample time to stock up, but were extremely nice and helpful anyway. The only thing that would knock this place out of the park for me would be to make some fridge space for individual bottles. I really like being able to create my own six packs especially when I'm stocking up for my low-key-one-beer-days. And I would say that has been Philly's newest trend-- all these bottle shops popping up in neighborhoods. For now, I'll come here if I'm looking for a place to easy park to get a case of something and go to the wine store next door. read more

This store is great. 90% of the employees are curtious and helpfull. The prices are a bit higher then others around, but I dont mind paying for convience. I have bought 6 packs here and will try their singles of hard to find brews. A cold selection of singles would be a good addition id say. But overall i definitly recomend The Beer Peddlers for all craft beer drinkers. read more

Personal opinion, but this might be top 3 beer spots close to center city. The selection of beer is not to be taken for granted. I'm big into ciders and between the 6 packs, single cans and 12+ packs I can always find what I'm looking for. Perfect segue into pointing out the fact that they have one of the biggest selections of single cans I've seen in a fridge. Most places have one MAYBE two fridges, but nope Beer Peddlers has at least 4 probably more. If you've been living in philly for any amount of time, you know single cans are difficult to find without having to go to the spots in some of the "seeder" neighborhoods. They have signs above the different sections so you can quickly locate the type of beer you're looking for. I also noticed the last time I was there they have a little "sale" section by the register of various beers that are no longer in season. I've been there quite a bit and the workers are always friendly. Regarding prices I would say they're about average compared to the supermarkets that sell beer and depending on what you're getting I think some things are cheaper than other beer "stores/distributors" I've been to. read more

You want rare large format craft, their selection, while not completely exhaustive has lots of awesome stuff. 6 growler taps of cool local only draft stuff. Sizes from large format craft and some 12 oz single bottles, to 4 or 6 packs, to 12 packs, to cases. Only drawbacks some people will find is that they don't have 40s or single pounder cans of stuff. Also no mix your own six pack. Still an awesome shop with good prices and customer service though. read more

I'm from California and we went up to watch the Eagles vs Greenbay game. Hotel I was staying at sucked balls,we were looking for a spot to buy beer from, when along came these guys (*angels singing). This place just rocked my world. Guys were super friendly, gave us a bunch of cool stuff. Had what we were looking for and made our trip out one of the best I have ever experienced. Especially cuz everyone we had met in Philly were rude as hell, if it wasn't for these guys I would never pan on visiting Philly ever. I stopped in the store today for the first time. Pros: clean, well-lit, and attentive staff (perhaps a little too attentive; as I strolled the aisles I was asked 3 times by 3 different employees if I need help. I understand the customer service angle, but I find repeatedly being asked if I need help to be a little bothersome), and good craft beer selection. I saw a few beers that I have not been able to find elsewhere locally. Cons: Prices are on the higher side. I realize craft beers are generally priced higher than macro beers, but the prices here are definitely higher than the same beers I have seen at other stores. So be it, I guess. Other drawback is that they are not willing to sell straight 6 packs or singles. You either have to buy 12 packs or 24 packs, and they are not willing to sell you a 6 of a beer that can be sold as such. That's annoying as you forced to buy a lot of beer you may ultimately not like. Otherwise, store is ok overall, but I have been to other craft beer stores locally that have better prices. read more
