It is difficult to choose one thing to order because there are so many that look amazing. We tried what they call a roulette which is a round layered pastry that is loaded with flavor. It was absolutely delicious. Not too sweet but just right. The disappointing factor at Gourmet Central Bakery is the coffee. It was incredible weak and flavorless. Not sure if it was the beans they use or the mix of water to coffee, but it was hugely disappointing. It did not compliment whatsoever their incredible baked goods. I hope they will focus on providing beverages that match the quality and creativity of their pastries. I would say check out GCB for all of their incredible baked goods, just don't order coffee until they make some changes. Their baked goods deserve, as do customers, a satisfying coffee pairing.

This place is great for the Salinas community and coffee lovers. I sometimes catch myself in Salinas and feel compelled to come here every time I visit. The service is solid, the drinks are really good and the atmosphere is perfect. They also have a popular vegan donut stand on Saturday morning, and they do live music throughout the week. This whole experience with good coffee was possible because of the manager at this Peets at the time, sorry I didn't catch her name but I am sure she has to be the manager here if not she deserve to be a manager. She is the white very fit lady who worked there very early that morning. She is good, she knows what she is doing, I can feel from every sip of that coffee that she had her mind into it. At the end of our visit I spoke with her and told her, about how great our coffee was and that was my husbands best cappuccino at any Peets so far. However I do agree with other review about their complain about other service but I won't take 5 stars from the first sip of coffee I had. I order a second cup of latte latter on and it was prepared by someone else and I was very disappointed by my first cup was the best. I really hope you can help the other worker here to master their coffee making as well and I hope the rest of the crew here will listen to her because you can benefits a lots from her experiences, she is good at what she is doing.

We stumbled upon Cafe Mia and were so happy we did! We sat outside on their little patio and enjoyed the sun and music while we waited for our drinks and food. The iced chai latte was DELISH. The quiche and apple fritter were pretty good as well. We didn't choose any of the healthy options but there are some! We briefly talked to the owner (I believe) and he was extremely kind and helpful. We will definitely go back if in the area again.

There are a half dozen other breakfast spots in town that we enjoy when we are in Monterey - we blew all of them off. This place is too fast and too good, honestly to want to get in the car and head over to any of those other spots. Is this place fancy? No. Is this place big? No! Its tiny! Is the food gourmet? No! Stop asking questions. The food is delicious and hot. The coffee and tea is yummy and hot. Everything is hot. The people are super friendly and hot. I like how real they are too - it's Saturday at 6am, everyone is dragging. I asked the people behind the counter how they were doing and they were (gasp) honest! We don't want to be here! Getting to work at 5am on Saturday is terrible but I respect and appreciate a human response. I really like this place - even the pastries are good and thats a good thing because we bought a bunch of them. I will end with this and then leave you alone - we left this place at 615am and sat down in the main grandstand in Turn 4 at Laguna Seca at 715am to watch epic Historic car racing and sank my teeth into a HOT and beautiful croissant breakfast sandwich with bacon in it in the heavy fog.
