Cherry Bean is located in oldtown Salinas. The art inside of the place is very nice. It's a fairly big coffee shop with a large variety of teas. They have outdoor seating and high chairs for the kiddos. The restroom is clean. I had a spinach quiche and veggie samosa with some peach iced tea. The quiche was great, but the samosa didn't inspire joy. The tea was brewed hot, then chilled with ice with was tasty and refreshing. I would come back. Price: $16

first time checking out this reddit renown coffee spot, always order the espresso everywhere i go, here they only have a dark roast dialed in, my least favorite, but despite that the double shot wasnt too bitter or astringent or tasted like old dirt, for dark roast it was good, had a nice bit of body and was really smooth with a natural sweetness. the staff are very fast and attentive, and the place itself is calm and spacious with some low motown and classic rnb. i got some light roast whole beans to go that i'm looking forward to, that'll be the real defining marker for me. forced to knock this place down a few because they wouldnt make a cortado and started cleaning the one bathroom 30 minutes before the shop closed and then locked it for the remaining last 15 minutes while the shop was still open and others were still inside! i can only venture that the staff do this so they can leave early, at the cost of a star though.

My favorite spot for a coffee in Old Town. Beans roasted on site, local pastries and a friendly vibe. Not sure why it got it reported closed - it's definitely open- I put the current hours up.

If you are in Salinas , definitely check out this coffee house. Great cozy ambience. Great coffee. Lots of space. Definitely a place where you can sit down and have a meeting, work on project, dear homework, or just enjoy the coffee

Best coffee roaster in the tri-county area. Todd and his staff definitely know their business.

I ordered the tuna melt and he got the chicken Caesar salad. The tuna melt was honestly really good. The sourdough bread was toasted nicely and I loved that crispy layer of cheese on the outside because that is a special tray and my favorite part of any melt sandwich. The tuna salad itself was flavorful. It came with potatoes that unfortunately were probably the only miss for me. They seemed like they were not reheated all the way, so they had that slightly cold, rubbery texture. They also serve this little cucumber and tomato salad on the side that was absolutely delicious and honestly such a nice fresh side to my sandwich. My son wasn't too impressed with the Caesar salad because he said the dressing tasted watery, but other than that everything else he liked - the chicken was flavorful and nicely cooked, the salad was fresh and crunchy. Service and atmosphere were nice. Overall, I would definitely come back for lunch again. Breakfast is also great here, so I would recommend both.

They made my sandwich with grilled shrimp since I don't eat any other meat(s). This place was hopping with customers which is a good indicator that the food, atmosphere and service is sufficient! We have tried different things on each visit and everything has been quite tasty. We have sat outside on the patio, so cannot speak to the inside other than restroom, which was fine - probably could be a little cleaner near bathrooms. Salmon with piccata sauce - really nice portion, it was quite large serving. The sauce was thicker than I am used to having, almost gravy-texture, but very flavorful. Delicious fresh veggies and I think it was a mashed potato (this was 2 weeks ago). French dip sandwich - hubby thought was spot on, really nice size. Only issue were his fries were a bit soggy. Calamari appetizer - LOVE this - it is really tasty, I prefer the tartar sauce with it, but the calamari is a really nice texture and tastes very fresh. Chicken tenders for kids - this is where I would knock them a bit, says panko crusted, these were not. They were identical to ones we get at Costco, which are great - really nice quality, but these were not what was expected. Fries again were soggy, so kind of a miss on the chicken tenders and fries. Hamburger - delicious my son said, toasted brioche bun was a nice touch. It was cooked well, decent portion as well, not too small and not too large. Steak and shrimp - while the steak was flavorful, it was thin, just slightly thicker than a flank cut. Shrimp were fine - overall it was a 3.5 out of 5 per the hubby. Pepperoni pizza - interesting. It tastes totally fine - its just felt like the dough was more focaccia? not pizza dough? The pepperoni were plentiful, not spicy (which is sometimes good for littles), and cheese was fresh. We enjoyed, but I think we are just spoiled by New York style. Desserts are hit or miss - cookies and the brownie have a really good flavor, but crumbly - like almost too crumbly. You hold and it falls out of your hand. They were out of coconut cream pie - so my hubby got a lemon pie, it was fine. The waitstaff has always been pleasant and attentive! We will hopefully be back on Friday!

We ordered avocado toast, French toast, banana pecan pancake, house potatoes, and an Aperol spritzer. My avocado toast was served on a single very thick piece of bread, which had a very generous amount of avocado smash and was topped off with this delightful and fresh arugula salad. I added an over easy egg for an extra charge that was the perfect balance. The house salad was simple with butter lettuce, cherry tomatoes, radish, cucumber, with a light lemon house dressing that brought the salad together. It was refreshing. The French toast is pretty standard. Nothing that particularly stood out. The banana pecan pancake was delicious and shared with everyone at the table. The house potatoes were extra crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, which I found particularly satisfying. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and found Portabello's to be a good brunch spot in Salinas. The service was fast, the food portions were big, the food tasted fresh, and it was a nice ambiance. I would definitely return for the avocado toast and potatoes. Side note - I noticed Caesar Salad was misspelled on the menu as "Caeser"

9.75/10 Hands down…read morethe best burritos in the area, and honestly, some of the best I've ever had! I've tried the Breakfast Burrito, Asada, Carnitas, and Chile Verde, and they've all been worth coming back for. First off, the tortillas are absolutely to die for. They're easily the best tortillas I've ever had, soft, fresh, and packed with flavor. They honestly make the burritos stand out from anywhere else. Every burrito comes with the same traditional rice and beans, and they taste homemade. The beans, especially, are delicious. The Breakfast Burrito is a great way to start your day. It's simple with eggs, potatoes, and your choice of meat, but it's filling, comforting, and exactly what you'd want from a breakfast burrito. The Carnitas Burrito has great flavor, although the meat can be a little on the dry side and tends to stick to your teeth. I'd definitely recommend adding their salsa, which helps bring everything together and adds some extra moisture. The Asada Burrito is a classic and doesn't disappoint. The steak is flavorful, and it's a solid go-to option. I'd also recommend grabbing some salsa to take it up another notch. The real winner, though, is the Chile Verde Burrito. If you're only ordering one, make it this one. The pork is juicy, tender, and full of flavor, and the chile verde sauce is absolutely incredible. It's easily my favorite and the one I'd recommend to anyone visiting for the first time. My only critique is the size, I just wish the burritos were a little bigger because they're so good! Overall, this is one of those places I keep coming back to whenever I'm craving an authentic, flavorful burrito.
