And over the years my friends and I have visited all of them. The Cherrybean is respectable and relaxed. It's a full service shop with some food treats that go well with your choice of drink. Cherrybean is if not anything else, consistent. Cherrybean is consistently reliable, particularly when it comes to their dark, full-bodied roast. The rustic building has limited seating. They offer a decent selection of pastries that complement their drinks well. I've always been satisfied with their espresso shots. Their Mexican mocha is also quite good. The service one receives can be hit or miss, which seems to be part of the charm. You never know what kind of service or 'tude you'll receive, but the coffee is always dependable. While I've had positive experiences thus far, I've also witnessed others encounter less friendly interactions with the owner, as mentioned in other reviews. Cherry Bean is located in oldtown Salinas. The art inside of the place is very nice. It's a fairly big coffee shop with a large variety of teas. They have outdoor seating and high chairs for the kiddos. The restroom is clean. I had a spinach quiche and veggie samosa with some peach iced tea. The quiche was great, but the samosa didn't inspire joy. The tea was brewed hot, then chilled with ice with was tasty and refreshing. I would come back. Price: $16 read more

first time checking out this reddit renown coffee spot, always order the espresso everywhere i go, here they only have a dark roast dialed in, my least favorite, but despite that the double shot wasnt too bitter or astringent or tasted like old dirt, for dark roast it was good, had a nice bit of body and was really smooth with a natural sweetness. the staff are very fast and attentive, and the place itself is calm and spacious with some low motown and classic rnb. i got some light roast whole beans to go that i'm looking forward to, that'll be the real defining marker for me. forced to knock this place down a few because they wouldnt make a cortado and started cleaning the one bathroom 30 minutes before the shop closed and then locked it for the remaining last 15 minutes while the shop was still open and others were still inside! i can only venture that the staff do this so they can leave early, at the cost of a star though. read more

I went in and seen a nice selection of baked goods and oatmeal cups. I am gluten free so I was unable to try the baked goods but I did try the coffee. COFFEE: I had the Mexican Mocha. It was really good. The barista asked if I wanted everything on it. I said Yes! I got whipped cream and a spice mix of i think nutmeg and cinnamon. It was tasty. My uncle had a drip coffee which he said was really good. I got to meet the owners who were very nice. Bathroom and establishment was very clean. Amazing coffee beans that are always fresh. Contrary to other reviews posted, I've had great interactions with owner. He loves his job. The only complaint is that the actual coffee drinks, at least the hot drinks, aren't up to par with the quality of the beans. Great customer service and friendly staff but disappointed in the quality of coffee. The beans are great quality and super fresh, but the pour over was super underextracted, and the cappuccino was overly bitter and poorly frothed milk. It would be so much better if they reduced the grind size for both the espresso and the pour over. My girlfriend was just trying to order something she liked and the owner, who was the barista, wasn't familiar with the term "Blonde Coffee," which is a lighter roast that Starbucks popularized. My colleagues and I stopped by for a coffee today. There were two baristas, an older one and a younger one. The older barista VERY rudely reprimanded the other barista for a mistake. He told him "get the hell out and you better think long and hard before you come back through those doors" It was so awkward to be there, and made us so upset that he spoke that way to the other barista. I use to be a regular to this coffee shop. But a few weeks ago I was denied entry because of my service dog. The staff was very rude about my service dog who has service paper with service vest on. I understand that every place has their only guide lines but it was a very embarrassing situation. In the past I have been able to grab a coffee to go with my service dog. Been here several times and the coffee has always been good. My go tos are the Midway Mocha or the Bianca Mocha. I get them with oat milk. Delicious! I visited this place on Main Street for the first time this morning. Because I had already enjoyed two cups of full-octane coffee by 8am, Sadly, I had to get a decaffeinated coffee. Normally decaff. coffee tastes flat to me so I normally don't bother with it. I have to say that this pour over decaff. was delicious! The almond halvah was perfection. The combination of good coffe and the almond sweetness was very satisfying. Without mentioning any names, the cashier and the man making my coffee were much friendlier than the people at the "unshaven" bean place down the street! I will not be going back to that other place. Why would I? This morning I had great coffee, a delicious sweet treat, and very friendly service for a lower price too. While living in Salinas I went here many, many times. It was a great meeting place for friends. The staff were always so friendly, and they always had great coffee, and sweet treats. At times they would have special events like the night they had the belly dancers meeting. There must have been twenty or thirty dancers, taking turns dancing. It was quite the event. My absolute favorite coffee shop. My Mocha Bianca was the perfect, creamy yet light consistency, with just enough sweet tinges of white chocolate to give plenty of flavor without overwhelming the palate.
