Staff acted like she was in a hurry and miserable and no one was there. She gave me the wrong drink and heard me mention it but didn't offer to make me another. The avocado toast was super salty. They just spread guac and a couple of slices of avocado.

This place is a really nice vibe, from the decor to the music. clean. They have pretty fast service. This is the second time coming here. We came back cause the first time customer service was great. Today was not the case. I ordered two drinks. The Duvalin one and this Mexican Mocha. I messed up and forgot to ask for Oat milk, soy milk or any milk substitute.. so I apologized and asked for them to remake it.. they charged me $1.60 which was fair my mistake. What wasn't ok was the girl making the drink talking crap between her teeth. They asked if I still wanted whip I said yes whip isn't enough to upset my stomach like the milk.. she was so upset slamming things talking crap extremely loudly she said whip is dairy said how dumb why do I have to remake.. I understand it was my mistake. I paid the difference but if this is the type of service Con Azucar offers then maybe I my money should go elsewhere .. which sucks cause the coffee was really good.. and that's where the two stars came in.. I've worked retail It sucks but to treat a paying customer like that ain't right..

Duvalin Matcha Latte (+Winnie the Pooh)

I go to Con Azúcar often since giving up Starbucks! My family and I love getting the Duvalin matcha latte, dulce de leche frappe, Jamaica refresher and gansito frappe. I have never had a bad experience here!! My matcha is always great (I just have to remember to mix it well) and today my barista left a Winnie the Pooh latte art on my drink which was a cute surprise!! The service is always great and the place is beautiful painted :) I'm glad there's a great Starbucks alternative coffee place here in Salinas.

Inside is sooooo aesthetically pleasing. the artwork and design is on point. The drinks are all well made, taste is good with a splash of spice. So delicious!!

Very aesthetically pleasing. I went around 12ish and luckily it was not that packed so I was able to sit down and enjoy the mural. The cafe de olla is delicious but it comes in a small cup. The latte was also good. I didn't expect the sandwich to be flavorful. Just be warned that it has a lot of mayo and if you are a messy eater like me you'll get your shirt stained.

    Gansito Frappe (actually strawberry frappe)

I've been to this location multiple times. Today, we ordered a Gansito Frappe with a cafe de la olla. The coffee was okay. To begin, there was no line management so customers didn't know where to stand in line. However, the issue was we received a strawberry frappe instead of a Gansito frappe. We returned only to be told that it was the Gansito frappe when it's clearly not. The lady said that the frappe is usually this pink which is hard to believe. We've been at this location multiple times for the Gansito frappe and it's never looked or tasted like this, can't taste a Gansito. There didn't seem to be supervisors around, staff is very young.

Mazapan iced latte, forgot the name of the warm drink and a mini concha - which was from their mini pastry assortment bags.

I was here back in February, not too long after they opened. I walked in and there were a few people in line and plenty of open seats, which I was gladly surprised. I ordered the iced mazapan latte and their assortment of pastries. The pastries were okay, I could tell they were not fresh, but not bad. The mazapan latte was on the sweeter side. I would ask for it less sweet next time. The staff was not friendly or rude, you could tell they were still trying to find their rhythm. They seemed to need training or have someone take ownership in managing the staff. I believe there was 4-5 people and they all seemed to lean on each other, no clear direction from a manager. The place was clean but they had received a supply order and supplies were sort of in the way, there was a couple of staff members working on it. Overall it was an okay experience and I would go back. At this moment, I wouldn't say Con Azucar comes to mind when I want to go out for coffee. I mean, it's been 3 months since I was there and I haven't been back, but I do plan on giving them another chance.

Brown Concha Grande (didn't have in display but I asked & they had it ready to go)

OVERALL: Kind of reminds me of the local Suju's in Fremont (where I'm from), as their local go to coffee in Salinas that's more concentrated in espresso complexity. CUBANITO: Their specialty! Only 8oz with 3 shots of espresso, turbinado sugar, and milk...can modify level of sweetness. However person for which this drink was for states it's still overly sweet. CARAMEL Macchiato: Made me sad that it wasn't authentic as milk should be first then the shots of espresso so there's two layers (that's why I secretly wanted this drink). Then a drizzle of caramel. Tastes like a caramel macchiato, nonetheless. ***overall, their coffee is good with a smooth flavor profile and no bitter undertones or after taste, equating to high quality beans*** SERVICE: They are so sweet, kind, and patient, willing to answer any and all questions. Very splendid seeing a group of Spanish speaking ladies going strong at it! AMBIANCE: Casual, local coffee joint that's mainly enjoyed by the Hispanic community. Bathroom available. WiFi available. Very clean. Very modern decor. Two outdoor tables. Multiple indoor seating options. This is definitely not a place you'd go to for simple espresso drinks. We were content with our drinks: Curious George (mocha with banana cold foam), For the Girls (cold brew with strawberry cold foam), and Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso. The flavors came out as expected, but it is was on the sweeter side. The drinks here are on the pricier side. Each of our 16 oz drinks were over $10 after tax and tip. They offer larger cups too around 24oz, similar to a Venti from Starbucks. Given the price only, it's hard for me to justify repeat visits. The store itself is tiny. There is no room for you to sit down and enjoy your drink. The staff were great. They were kind and very attentive despite being very busy when we went. I'd only come if I'm craving their specialty drinks.

For the holidays, you know they had to give us something good! I tried both the Grinch Matcha and Santa Cookie drink and it tastes like Christmas holiday cosy vibes but iced lol. To be clear, yes, they sell donuts, but no, they do not sell ice cream; and, furthermore, it feels as though the donuts only exist because of the lottery tickets and scratchers that they sell as those have a better selection than donuts. That said, I did purchase a donut from their meager selection in the afternoon. Not sure if that selection was limited by the time of day, or simply reflects all that they have but the donut was decent, I believe it was called a cinnamon crunch, but the remaining selection of donuts were a small collection of cake and old-fashioned. Still not sure why ice cream is listed in the name as the sign outside the business does not reflect that either. I went to purchase my donut only to learn that they only accept credit cards for purchases over three dollars. Good to know my donut was under three dollars, disappointing if you fail to bring cash they have a decent sized sitting area in the back behind the lottery section. Ironically, I feel as though it is more generous than the area used to sell their tickets and donuts, the attendant was neither nor cordial. Experience was less than memorable. The only reason I chose to do a review to help others avoid a similar disappointment. My final advice, walk across the street buy some box donuts from Grocery Outlet and you'll be similarly pleased.

I happened to overhear the owner David talking to the clerk about his newest menu item, Korean hot dogs. He proceeded to describe them as Mochi dogs. I thought "Well I like Mochi, and I like hot dogs". As David passed by I asked him where his restaurant was and he pointed out the window as it was just across the parking lot. I came out to the car and suggested to my husband we go try the Mochi Dogs and he thought that was a good idea. We came in and David recognized me from the bank. He is a very friendly guy, and very helpful with explaining the drinks menu as there are lots of choices. He also offered choices for the Korean Hot Dogs: All dog, or the dog with cheese and the breading can also include potatoes. We opted for all dog and plain breading. I ordered a drink with Boba, light ice with almond milk and Thai Tea flavoring. I had the option of really sweet or less so and I chose the latter. I think I might order the more sweeter option next time. There was about a 10 minute wait for the dogs to cook so I sipped my drink while we chatted. The hot dogs were hot (very) so you know they were freshly cooked. Nice and crunchy, served on a stick. Ample size and I would imagine with the cheese and potatoes added they would be very filling. The bill came to $29.00 with a tip added. I think the cost was reasonable for a unique type of fare. Two drinks, and two dogs. I plan to bring my Korean friends to try the Mochi like fried dogs and see what they think.
