Don't roll in with expectations of any more than that. The bartender was super friendly and helpful in trying to give us ideas of things to do while we were in Denver. Honestly, I hate to say this, but her talents are being wasted sitting in an empty bar during the middle of the day. Cold beer. Friendly staff. What else do you need in life?

It has that classic local bar feel - relaxed, welcoming, and full of personality. Most of the crowd seemed to be locals, aside from us and a couple of other tables grabbing a later dinner. That's usually a good sign. The drink selection had plenty of options, and the atmosphere made it easy to settle in and stay awhile. We kept it simple with a few neat pours of whiskey and enjoyed soaking in the vibe. We didn't try the food this visit, but after seeing what was coming out of the kitchen, we'll definitely be back to do that next time. The server brought us filled glasses and then told us if we wanted any refills, we could get them ourselves from the big cooler jug outside. Um...okay. The rest of the service was pretty much the same -- apathetic. We ordered a flight of beer for the four adults at the table. It was about $30 and came with about 15 small glasses of cider, one of each flavor they served. We shared it and got to sample everything that way. I ordered the Cider Burger (medium rare) with fries as my side. It came out medium well, which instantly ruins and dries out any good burger experience. The fries were tepid as well. I don't think we even saw our server again until the end, and even then we had to wait for awhile for the check. So, overall, It was just an okay experience. If I'm in the Idaho Springs area again, I wouldn't return to Clear Creek Cidery & Eatery. I'd definitely explore other options.

The bartender was friendly and chatty, and was from another country so he was eager to talk. They have a two part building, with a nice large downstairs too. The brewery has been going for over thirty years, which is a lifetime for this industry. The beer selection was fairly limited compared to the dozens you get at some breweries. They had basically one offering of each type (stout, ipa, lager, ect). There's recipes seem to have been going for years and they have all sorts of old labels from decades ago. Lots of video poker machines if that's your thing, and a cool swag shop. The rest 2/3 of the building is more your typical independent casino. I opted for the Chocolate Stout, and it was fantastic! Never know what you'll get with a new brewery but this was a nice dark beer with lots of malt and sweet Carmel flavor. One of the top stouts I've tried, and I've had a lot! Definitely would be back for that same beer, and to try more!

One prep cook. And three servers. One server was eating Tostitos and homemade salsa at the bar. My partner was out at our table and the server who was supposed to take out order told the table next to her that she was waiting outside cause a guy (me) wanted to make a order at the bar. The large family Inside still didn't have food by the time we left and the flies were all over the dirty tables outside. After seeing the prep and the food service area covered in flies there, I kinda am glad we walked away. No service nothing.
