The place is a little dark, but don't worry, they have special flashlights for you to use on the menus. With high class pours come higher prices, so this isn't a place for doing shots. I'm not a whiskey drinker or aficionado. I don't like whiskey at all TBH, but came here as an obliging boyfriend. Honestly, I was not personally impressed and would drop three stars but for the overwhelmingly positive reviews by other users. I imagine the whiskey loves are onto something so I don't want to create a false impression of mediocrity. Still, gotta live my truth and here we go: First, it's not a den. You cannot escape the fact that you're in a strip mall next to a gas station, and you absolutely need to drive to get here. A den is a place somewhere dark, cozy, private nooks and corners, etc. generally less accessible, and ideally walkable. I get that the word is a bit of a conceit but it set a false expectation. With that said, they do very well with what they have and the atmosphere is "ok". Very modern with rustic touches and just a giant wide open space which is the fashion these days... Drinks are around $13-18 and pretty damn tasty, fresh, and use high quality ingredients. 75% of the cocktails are ice. Whether it's a giant cube or a pile of chipped ice, that's what you're getting. To me the dose of actual drink was barely enough to wet my beak. This is par for the course for fancy drinks, so I don't knock them, just pointing it out for the purpose of description. They don't hard sell the whiskey, but the servers going around do sometimes lean into what I consider a sales pitch. I personally can't stand this anywhere unless it's asked for, and for me I'm on immediate guard for fear of being upsold. Not a vibe I'm looking for when going out for casual drinks. Live music was a huge plus. Nice job! Overall I personally would not return but people seem to like the place, and I can see why it's successful. read more

I was on the way back from Farragut State Park to Coeur d'Alene and stopped by one of the more interesting locations for a cocktail bar. This is located right next to a gas station parking lot really in the middle of nowhere. My first drink was the smoke in the meadow ($12) which is very much like an old fashioned but instead utilizing elderflower. The smoky glass is also a nice presentation. My second drink was the queen bee ($12) which is like a whiskey sour with the egg white but more complex with cardamom honey and cardamom bitters. Even in the middle of seemingly nowhere they can still get packed on the weekends, with trivia on Tuesdays, a band on Fridays, and a food truck on Fridays and Saturday. The environment is very chill and the craft cocktails are exceptional. It really is a hidden gem that you would just pass by unless you were getting gas. read more

This bar has made a whiskey appreciator out of me! I absolutely love their espresso martinis, margaritas, gin drinks and of course the Little Easy with a cinnamon smoked glass. After trying the William Larue Weller I am falling in love with their more rare bottles I can't seem to find anywhere else. We spent a day in CDA for a memorial for my brother. A good friend of his recommended this spot to enjoy a really great Old Fashioned. He was NOT wrong! Not only was the drink a fitting way to end the day, the two guys working that night were very informative and very great to talk to. It's always great to find the local spots that are not mass produced but offer the greatest in product and hospitality. This will definitely be a go to location if we are in the CDA area again.! A truly exceptional cocktail bar worth visiting! The bar manager, Peter, is extraordinarily hospitable and the creative genius behind the menu. All of his showcased a creativity which would rival many of the best cocktail bars in the country, and are well beyond the scope of cocktails found at a typical North Idaho bar. They also offer a limited bar menu selected from Belle's Brunch place in the same complex until 7pm, but they also offer delicious charcuterie. My wife and I along with some friends stopped in on Saturday night. It was a 23 mile drive but there were good reviews. We didn't have a good experience whatsoever. We all but fell down with all the ice at the front door, you'd be liable if someone got hurt. That night there was a DJ playing music. The music was so loud that we couldn't talk to each other without yelling. We asked the bartenders three times to turn the music down. Never happened, needless to say the DJ didn't get tipped. The DJ decided to play heavy metal music and rap music. We are all in our late fifties, early sixties. That music genre was totally unacceptable. The whiskey's were great along with the selections. The ladies had wine and they too were good. An artichoke dip appetizer was ordered. It came in a very small cup with ten + crackers. Paying $10 we expected a larger amount of dip. You had at least three bartenders with only twelve customers, our group was six. The male bartenders made you feel like they were doing you a favor. The female bartender was much better. The prices were fine. You have a gold mine if you made it a real whiskey bar. Music from Sinatra, Dean Martin and speak easy music. I won't be back even with the great variety of whiskey! read more
