Had a great lunch here today. Tried the Bardollino Salad the Tuscan soup and a beer. Great food! It is fresh flavorful and the bread that came with it tasted homemade. We were visiting Sandpoint for a week of skiing and found Bernklau first for a cup of coffee. The eggnog latte was perfect for the Christmas season! A day later we returned for some sandwiches that were delicious and filling - and more coffees - On our final day in town we stopped in again for brunch. The atmosphere was amazing with a 3 sided fireplace- clean modern style - movable tables for larger parties and a very efficient and friendly staff. The crepes were fantastic - we had a savory and a sweet. There was also outdoor seating and what looked like a rooftop bar! The prices were certainly fair with a meal for under $15. What a rare gem to find on our vacation - certainly a reason to return to Sandpoint. read more

This place is great!!! I had their tea, which you can get with "everything"... lemon, ginger, elderberry, mint... all of it in one giant cup. It's so good and fresh tasting. I want to buy it by the jug. I will suggest that, I think... I also tried their caprese sandwich (yum!) and their pistachio creme crepe. A friend of mine had their latte/espresso and was really happy with it (plus it was so pretty). I love how quaint the place is, and intimate. I would seriously just come every morning if it was in my budget to do so. The service is awesome and friendly, and they're so helpful. I never feel rushed trying to figure out what to order. It was our first time in Sandpoint afew weeks ago, and we came here for brunch. What we had not expected was that it would be some of the best crepes we had ever had. We got a strawberry and pistachio crepe, aswell as a pesto, cheese, and egg crepe. both were warm, decently sized, and amazing! Plus the two crepes we also ordered an iced chai latte, despite getting a hot one instead of the iced as we had asked, it was still a lovely chai. The interior was a very modern style, a mix of elegance but also a sort of welcoming coziness to it. Haven't felt compelled to give a positive review for some time. However, Bernklau just gave me all the inspiration I need. My wife and I just moved back to Sandpoint and finding this place only 10 days in made us both smile. We like to take our 4 year old Sullivan out for breakfast on our days off. We find a "place" in each city we move to. Bernklau has just become that place! If you haven't tried it yet, do it! Pastries on point, coffee and tea that we tried (matcha) for me were delicious. If you are one of the fortunate people to find yourself in the idyllic town of Sandpoint, Idaho, you must stop and have breakfast at the Bernklau. The lemon cream and strawberry crepe will leave you wanting more! The fresh croissants are flakey and buttery and filled with a variety of delicious options. I never leave reviews, but sometimes places are so outstanding that to not leave a review is not okay. This place is incredibly cute with a great ambiance. It has the best coffee and mimosas as well as the most outstanding customer service! They are so friendly and kind and service-oriented. I would come here again in a heartbeat. 10/10 cafe!! The high rating is more than accurate. I got the No. 5 savory crepe which included goat cheese and olive tapenade- AMAZING! Hubby got the sweet strawberry and lemon crepe and I caught myself stealing bites throughout my meal. Coffee was unreal and clearly made of high quality ingredients. Great proportion sizes and great customer service- one of the waitresses gave me two free bottled waters because I asked if they had glasses and she said no. I was more than prepared to pay, and she told me to not worry about it. If you're looking for a chill, laid back cafe with GREAT food, do not miss out on this place :) read more

Such a beautiful cafe. We ordered two savory crepes and one sweet crepe for dessert. We also ordered two hot chocolates. Every bit of our meal was wonderful and fanciful. used to come here a lot. love the brown sugar butter cinnamon crepes. but something has happened in the last month or 2 and I'm on my 3rd visit where they are not the same. there was next to nothing in my crepe and now what I loved about them so much is gone. the service is always awesome, they are very nice here and I hate to go elsewhere to hang out for lunch but there's nothing keeping me here now. empty crepes aren't yummy. read more

That aside, Connie's has become something of a standby for us, particularly in the summer months when we frequent the nearby City Beach. The atmosphere is reminiscent of vintage Denny's and Lyon's restaurants (when I was growing up, my family either owned or managed both, so this place feels like home when I'm there). Like the Hoot Owl, my favorite menu item is their Ranch Burger, which mixes barbecue sauce with a red wine vinaigrette (as opposed to ranch dressing at Hoot Owl), and served on a toasted sourdough roll. Their bacon is very thick and very crispy, with a dash of black pepper around the edges for added flair. Prices are reasonable to what you would expect and portion sizes are generous, with lots of steak fries or hash browns or whatever your pleasure. I'm not big on breakfast, but fortunately they seem to serve lunch all day. Service has always been very friendly and efficient, although if you go on weekends (particularly Sundays), they can be obscenely busy and once or twice this has meant longer waits for seating and service. They're very kid friendly, and have been very accommodating when our son occasionally picnics his McDonald's Happy Meal to the table. Parking can be a little tricky out on the street, but they're very well situated on the corner on Cedar Street, adjacent to and actually connected to part of the eponymous Cedar Street Hotel, and there's plenty of parking on adjacent streets and lots with a short and relatively pleasant walk to the premises. I'm usually reliant on cellular data for any internet needs while I'm there, but chances are you're there for the food more so than lightning fast upload/download speeds so head on over and enjoy your meal!

I know Lost in the 50's is 2 weeks away, and if service remains like it's been, you'll have a bunch of upset customers.
