Came in on Father's Day, a Sunday this year, and were told "35 to 40 minutes". We were seated in less than 10, so pleasantly surprised. The wait staff were very friendly and quick. Ordered the eggs Benedict to challenge the chef (and all eggs are otherwise about the same anyway). St Joseph, Missouri is a border town between North and South but firmly on the north side of the line. The eggs Benedict are great. High quality ham, and a delicious hollandaise. The restaurant is large and spacious but probably two thirds of the tables are unused as a result of whatever this is going on with restaurants not getting enough workers in 2021 (I won't enter the political argument about the cause of this phenomenon). Service was pretty good. 4/5. I believe our server's name was Andrew and he was attentive without being in our face about it. We did sit at our table for about 4 minutes before someone did take our drink order, so I had to knock down the rating 1 star. I do not fault our server with that. It appeared he was busy with other customers, but there was plenty of other staff milling about who could've been more helpful. It was about 1pm on a Sunday, it was not busy, and seemed that some of the staff were cleaning up so they could leave work, so they were less concerned with customers. COVID-19 precautions were being taken seriously. 5/5. I saw that they weren't seating some of their table. The staff was masked up and it appeared that when they were dealing directly with patrons, they were also wearing gloves. I very much appreciated that. Hot sauce, S&P were all served on request so there weren't any bottles or shakers on the tables. Food - this is where it just gets pulled down. A hard 2/5. It was mostly edible but my plate with the eggs and grits was too cold for my liking. When I put the butter on my grits, it barely started to melt. I also found the grits to be a little slimy. That could've been the butter but I put butter on my grits at home all the time and don't experience that at all. I wonder if the butter was more of a margarine, now that I think about it. The scrambled eggs tasted ok, but again, they were too cold to be considered good. My waffle was good, but it wasn't melting the butter at all, so again, too cold. My boyfriend ordered The Cowboy and he liked it, though the chicken fried steak was a bit tough. But he did enjoy the biscuits, so that is why I'm not giving the food a rating of only 1 star. All in all, I've been here 3 times and have always left disappointed. Idk how it gets higher ratings, but I don't plan on coming back here to eat when Le Peep and Waffle House have better food. If you like this place, keep on coming, but if you've never been, I'd say there are better breakfast places to eat in St Joe. read more

We've eaten here several times. Today was very good. We ordered the loaded sticky biscuit to share to start. It was very good. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, extra crispy bacon, grits, and a biscuit. Husband ordered basted eggs, hash browns, and rye toast. Food came out quick, correct, and hot. My only complaint is the grits were too thin...but that is better than thick and lumpy! We'll be back the next time we're in St Joe. read more

The big biscuit is just what it means. The biscuits were huge. If you wanted biscuits and gravy I would suggest just a half biscuit and if you are a lite eater get the 1/4 biscuit. Yes they do offer that as an option. I had the breakfast ham and eggs and it was wonderful and a correct portion for me to enjoy and not fill overstuffed or hungry in an hour. Toxic Food NEVER ORDER TO GO FOOD HERE! They put to go food in styrofoam containers which leach a cancer causing substance called Styrene into the food according to the US government, not to mention the nasty flavor in gives the food, (This is particularly true with hot food). And don't ask them to put in a paper liner in because they will tell you they will and they don't. (Its above the managers pay grade apparently). I have asked them repeatedly to do this and was assured they would only to find out they did not! I guess they could give two craps about your health and not serving toxic, cancer causing food. I ordered the Workout Scramble and it was delicious. The fresh fruit side consisted of ripe grapes bananas and strawberries. Very tasty. Everyone commented on the huge servings and the biscuits we're also a hit! Our server was friendly and very attentive to our group. The big biscuit lived up to it's name. I saw plenty of BIG biscuits. I opted for the cinnamon roll pancake that was amazing... the only thing is the temperature of the food. I honestly couldn't believe the reviews I saw on this place. They were all excellent reviews, however I went there today. As my granddaughter and I walked in we were all but ignored by The Host. The lobby was full yes but to not even get acknowledged I felt was rude. I was told then that it was a half an hour wait. We waited 45 minutes with no less than eight tables available. In that 45 minutes two parties were seated. I went up and asked the host if there was a problem, and all I got was Sir it's a longer wait than we expected. I pointed out that there were tables available and all I got was I'm sorry sorry it's a longer wait than we expected. That is perfectly fine, I've done this before....however it is 50 degrees out and out hot breakfast was sitting outside on a table!!!! Why in the world would you not put the no contact table INSIDE to keep it warm?!??? It was not hot, barely warm. Can't the table be inside?!?! I made the mistake of coming to the big Biscuit today where I was greeted by a woman who looked like she hadn't showered in days. Sadly she was also my waitress. Her name is Lala and she was so dirty and smelled like alcohol. I was nervous about her touching my food. It felt like I needed a shower after being around her. Disgusting. Her words were slurred and I could hear her all the way from the kitchen screaming and cursing. Not a good look for any restaurant.
