Rating a 3 for just average. I was very excited to try Le Peep...it's always busy when we drive by. This morning it was steady, but not busy. I should mention it is Tuesday. I got seated right away. The restaurant is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Their menu is not too busy, and I did notice they had a gluten-free menu also. I had the quiche and Peasant Potatoes. I liked the quiche. The Peasant Potatoes were kit my favorite. Not a lot of flavor and slightly undercooked. My server was very friendly. Now, would I go back...maybe. To be honest, it would not be my first choice. We were in town for a Girls Weekend and this restaurant came recommended from a local. We stopped to eat around 1030a on Sunday and were immediately greeted and seated. It's a decent sized restaurant but it's really cozy, too! Our server was very friendly and didn't rush us at all. Get the Salmon Benedict or the Eggs Benedict! We were seated quickly and was comfortable. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Our food arrived in a timely manner. I ordered the pancake of the month, which was a lemon pancake I had seen in the advertisement coming into the restaurant, so I expected it to look the same as the advertisement. It did not! The advertisement was for lemon pancakes. The pancakes I received did have a slight lemon flavor. But the swirled icing in the advertisement with the lemon slice on top was not there. I ordered two link sausages that were overly cooked and hard to cut. My friend ordered a Belgian waffle. She was not thrilled with the flavor. She said if it had not been for the syrup, that was the only flavor there was. I don't like to give harsh reviews, but this was really our experience. People around us seem to be enjoying their meals so perhaps this was just a fluke. read more

The food was amazing!!! We passed it by on our first day but someone at our hotel recommended them and we ate breakfast there every day after! The atmosphere was light, bright and comfortable. The waitstaff were very friendly and helpful. Would give 10 stars if I could. I had to send one mornings breakfast back and they did not miss a beat. I had it fixed within minutes. Went back this morning reluctantly at my husband's urging after a horrible experience here about six months ago. I was pleasantly surprised, and hope they keep it up. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. I ordered the dawn breaker and it was delicious, a little watery because of the mushrooms in it, but that is to be expected. The hash browns were done perfectly (unlike my last visit) and the food was fresh and hot (also unlike my last visit). I hope they have fixed whatever was going wrong the last time I visited in June. It appears they may have. Don't know if the owners or managers read these reviews, but I hope they do. read more

I really wanted to love this place because I have been wanting to try it for a long time. It may have just been what I ordered. The corn hash was pretty mushy. The waffle was pretty good and the cinnamon roll was good. The gluten free menu is very limited so just be aware of that. The food was great! Our waitress was excellent! The place is clean. Love that they leave a pot of coffee at the table as most places are pretty slow on refills. The big problem was they added a tip on to our bill. The total was about 30 and we left a ten on the table. The bill processed with an extra 5 on it. Not a huge deal, but got us thinking. Did they think we didn't tip and just took it on themselves to add it on? Did someone grab the 10 off the table? Does this happen often (after talking to a group of friends 2 out of 5 advised that had happened to them there too). I bet since older people typically go here, that they wouldn't even notice. The manager was nice enough about it, came up with some reasoning on how it could have happened. In my mind this was BS. This should not happen and if it has been an issue in the past then they need to come up with a new way of adding tips. Really left a bad taste in our mouths and it wasn't from the food. read more

Multiple breakfast visits. All 5*!! Food is all very good and the service is top notch. Biscuits & gravy is especially good for a commercial product. Quick service and the only negative is the sausage patties are precooked and could be warmer. I fix that by putting them in the hot biscuit gravy right away and by the time I get to them, they are plenty warm. I also wish they had a better platter option for biscuits & gravy. To get the mix I want makes it pricey with potatoes I really don't want. read more

Lacking consistency, came last Sunday and couldn't wait to get back. Came this Sunday and walked out disappointed. Ordered the Desperado both times and there was a night and day difference. Less chorizo, potatoes were bland, refried beans ordered on the side were tasteless and had a film over the top indicating they had been stewing for a bit. Eggs were basted perfectly! Ordered the dollar pancakes last time for $2 and ordered regular pancakes this time for $6.59, both times the pancakes were the same size. Come on now $7 for pancakes?? I ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict which I had the last time I visited. It was a great disappointment. The Hollandaise was tan and curdled. It greatly affected the taste of the dish. The Peasant Potatoes were tasteless. I also received a tiny cup of cooked apples which were sour. I then ordered a piece of chocolate cream pie hoping to at least finish the meal on an up note but was again disappointed. The chocolate pudding was bitter. They are made by a local Mennonite specifically for Le Peep. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The manager was attentive and friendly as well. Even though LePeep has locations in a dozen states, I consider Peep's in St. Joseph to be a local restaurant because we've gotten to know the staff and the servers so well, and they've made the effort to get to know us. LePeep also allows their owners to put local favorites on their menus, so you don't get the national chain "one size fits all" treatment. Very good breakfast and lunch. Eggs Benedict are great, as are the omelets, the stuffed French Toast (with a vanilla ricotta and cream cheese filling plus strawberries on top) and the Dutch Apple Oatmeal. Lunch is also very good, with a menu that includes crepes and a good Cobb Salad in addition to sandwiches. Order hot tea and they will bring you a box of teabags so you can choose your flavors, a nice touch. The "build your omelet" was a welcome addition in this town, where avocado, artichoke and gruyere are some of the ingredient choices. There are some lower fat options on the menu too, so you don't have to leave here feeling like you "shouldn't have". I like LePeep's because the noise level is not obnoxious and I can sit quietly and drink my iced tea. The servers know us well enough to bring a carafe of iced tea when they come to greet us and take our order0 The atmosphere is leisurely, nice wooden tables and chairs unless you sit in a booth. Forget Denny's and Perkins and come here for breakfast. Three stars (a solid A-OK) plus one for the service and the nice touches with meals that put LePeep a cut above the usual fare. read more

Every time I've been here the food has been served hot, tasty and with a smile. LePeep is one of those places that's only open until mid afternoon serving breakfast and lunch so don't head up here expecting dinner. Their breakfast/brunch selections are varied. You can grab a big platter of home style potatoes with many varieties of toppings, French toast, waffles, corned beef hash (my fave breakfast staple) or eggs Benedict. Really enjoyed both the food and the service this morning. The people who are all super nice and friendly we had the breakfast instead of lunch even though it was about 11 in the morning. I had an omelet that was excellent with fresh fruit instead of just canned food. My husband had the French toast with scrambled eggs and sausage. Both of us thought they were prepared perfectly. I've been to Le Peep three times so far and every time the food is amazing and the servers are friendly. I'm a vegetarian and during one of my visits I couldn't figure out the best way to get all of the things I wanted without paying too much extra for making my own combination, but my server helped me out with that and pointed out an option that had everything, and also made it without meat for me. The art they have hanging on the walls is pretty. I don't eat out much, but Le Peep is now my favorite breakfast place. read more

Staff was great but food was sub-par! I was expecting a more French style and it was a terrible Denny's. I was looking forward to the sweet cream stuffed French toast and I got rubbery French toast slathered with chunky/ watery ricotta cheese with powered sugar in it. The cream needs to be smooth not with little chunks of ricotta. The others in the party did not find the food appetizing either. Would have been one star but the staff was nice. read more

Maybe the high reviews made me overestimate what I would receive here. It was a Sunday morning so it was pretty busy. There were a decent amount of tables open but the hostess tried to sit me at the table right next to where people pay for their meals at the register. She walked me to the table as 4 people were pretty much right against the table waiting to pay for their food. So I had to ask for a different table. The food was good but nothing great. It is nicer than a place like Denny's or Waffle House, but I would rather go to Cracker Barrel right next door. read more
