Absolutely love Cheddars in St. Joe. I was in town picking materials for a job and was craving a regular crispy chicken wrap. They did not have this on the menu, but they were more than happy to make it for me. I sat at the bar and had myself a beer and my wraps. The food tasted amazing, the service was great, the bartender checked on me in perfect intervals and made sure I was enjoying my meal and didn't need anything. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone coming through or living in St. Joe as the staff is consistently on their game and the food is always amazing. I usually like Cheddars. I travel a lot. I eat out a lot. This time the service was so bad I'll be reluctant to visit another Cheddars for a while. Nevaeh C started out by not knowing the menu. At all. Starting at the beverage list. She had no idea. It only got worse from there. "No ice" translated to extra ice at the table. "More napkins please" turned into four separate requests and no napkins over a twenty minute period. I finally asked a passing hostess if she could bring me some. No stopping by to see if everything was ok. The food was fine but the poor service was what resonates. This was our 2nd visit to Cheddars, definitely won't be our last. I've enjoyed the Pot Pie which was crispy flaky crust the filling was perfect with large chunks of juicy chicken. The Monte Crisco is amazing! Hot ham and cheese wrapped in a funnel cake type dough. It was so big, I actually only finished a quarter of it but look forward to warming my leftovers in the air fryer. The waitress packed up my leftovers with a large side of raspberry jelly. Cheddars is not the same generic food as most other chain restaurants. The menu is large and I'm looking forward to future visits to try new things. read more

Food was very good with decent size portions. I ate off the kids menu & it was more than enough. Waitress was towards the end of her shift & apparently was more than ready to go home so she wasn't as polite as she could/should have been. She got a bit snippy when I asked for a clean knife. The coleslaw was extremely boring. It had no flavor. The broccoli cheese casserole was decent. The peach swirl margarita was horrible. My first sip was ALL SYRUP. I used my fork to blend it in. Ick. The margarita was not good. The service was a little slow. But it was only one lady fielding 6 or 7 tables so I don't fault her. Wow is all I can say. We had a table of 5. Two couples and a child. Service took forever! Our waitress forgot her book, straws, etc.. We had a beer, two apps and croissants. One more beer. Asked for another beer after waiting awhile and was told they needed to ask the manager. The manager and assistant came out and told us two drink max unless we had food. Our food had come out by that point. All the food we had already had was gone. Then came our food. Empty beers on the table. Now that we had food we could've had another beer with our meal after it finally arrived. Except wait!... "I need to ask my manager". I've had the same server the last two times I've been there. We went on a Sunday for a late lunch about 1:30 pm. Not crowded. Seated right way. Our waitress came took out drink orders. One coke zero, a diet Dr. Pepper, and 2 waters. She thought somehow i stated no ice in my orders. Nope did not and we ordered the spinich dip it then same time. Came back with our soda orders ..and no water. Tic tok! Finally our waters. No straws for the waters but we did have straws for the soda. Took our food order. Her got the fish and shrimp neal with loaded mashed potatoes and carrots. I get chicken fired chicken with then house salad and honey lime dressing and a loaded baked potato. Still waiting on our spinach dip. Well out cones my salad. She brings it. And i ask her so wheres our spinach dip? She says looking at our table yall didnt get it? Are you kidding me? Did it look like we got it? I said no we didnt get it! We both knew what was going to happen next. Then she came back to our table and said who ordered the baked potato? I stated ne. She said well we just ran out! Really? Well by this time we shouldve had all of your food and eaten and left already! She asked us there another side you want? Rattles off the sides. Looks irritated when i ask her to repeat some of them BC i cant hear her. I just picked them brocolli casserole. Less than 2 min later they spinich dip showed up with our entire meal. And guess what? We ate at this Cheddar's for the first time last night and found ourselves faced with a short wait. The space was open with a high ceiling and an attractive rotating multi fan display. The atmosphere was pleasant but could have been improved with softer background music. The young man (James) that served us seemed a tad nervous and showed little in the way of personality. We had to ask for condiments for my wife's burger, dressing for my salad, and drink refills. When he did deliver those things it was always as quick as possible as if on the run. We could understand that if the place was slammed but it wasn't. Perhaps it was his first night. In any case we found it to cast shade on what was otherwise a nice enough meal. We had the Wisconsin cheese bites to start. It was an atypical app for us to order but no regrets, they were pretty good. After the complimentary butter croissants (delish), my wife had the Smokehouse burger and fries. It looked good if on the small side but she liked it and that makes me a happy man. I opted for a bowl of their potato soup but received a cup. It was pretty tasty. Then came my Crispy Chicken Tender Salad, large enough, ranch on the side. It was good as well though I needed additional dressing. Since James pulled our paper menus we were without desert options. Yes, we could have asked but opted not to. One pays electronically at the table further making the experience feel impersonal. Pro Tip: They take Apple Pay We won't rule out another visit but wish the service was up to par. Visited on a Friday for lunch; we were put on the waitlist for about 10 minutes before being shown a seat in the bar area. The crack in the seat was filled with debris and was pretty gross, the table wobbly, and it just seemed like they were struggling a bit overall. We waited about 5 minutes after being seated to get our orders taken. The food was served promptly, slightly incorrect but was remedied quickly. The fries were lukewarm, and the entrees were pretty plain and flavorless. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich ($8.99). The chips and queso were served haphazardly: there werent a lot of chips and the salsa was watery. Overall, you get good value for the price, at the expense of flavor and cleanliness. Compared to other fast casual restaurants of its type, I'm not sure I would return with the other options available in the area. read more

Where do I even begin? I keep trying to give this place chances, but last night was the final chance for me! First off we ordered an appetizer, which was chips and queso with the beef added. It was decent, but the queso could have been warmer temperature wise. We asked for more chips and got them at the time of our meal. Yes, that was a long delay. One guest ordered the chicken finger platter with loaded baked potatoes, which was okay. I ordered the honey glazed chicken, house salad, and broccoli casserole. The casserole was luke warm, but everything else was hot except for the salad of course. The salad was good and came with the warm croissant, which are generally great. The chicken had good flavor and cooked throughout. The rice underneath was soggy and was nasty. Also the mushrooms that came with it were so salty that I was unable to eat them. The server was just fair, nothing spectacular and I think he was just learning. He was very green, but he was trying and we did tip. Now to the interesting part of the evening! The bill came and I expressed that I had a coupon, which was emailed to me bye Cheddars because I'm on their direct email list that you sign up for. The server explained to me they didn't accept coupons. Huh? I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came out and I showed him the coupon on my email, which it was for 10% off 2 adult entrees. Our bill came to roughly $27.00, so we aren't talking about much money ($2.70). It all comes down to the principle of it at this point! The manager said we are privately owned and not part of the franchise, so we don't participate in the coupons. I said so you are Cheddars and I get a Cheddars email with a coupon and I can't use it here at the Cheddars I'm currently sitting in? He says "yeah pretty much." I explained had I known the coupon wouldn't be accepted I would have went somewhere else and ate. The manager (Mike) looked at me and shrugged his shoulders saying "okay." Mike then walked off as if it was no BIG deal! Wow! If I was a owner/partner in this Cheddars I would NOT be happy with this behavior! Mike is essentially telling the customers I don't care if you stop here or not. Well no customers-means no business-means no job! I hope he remembers that next time! As I proceeded to walk out people were standing all around to be seated at the front. I asked the 2 hosts if they had surveys to fill out and they both kindly told me no. They both were very pleasant. The one asked me if I would like to speak to a manger. I said "No, that won't do any good as I've already spoke to one and he was a complete *?!hole and I'll just deal with another way." Now I'm sure the whole lobby of people heard me as I was very upset. Times are trying. Everyone is sort staffed. Food service is hard. This is a review about recovery and grace under fire. I ordered a very large online order for lunch. There was a break down in communication about order pick up time.... Frustrating waiting for an order... an order that was a little off. Deep breath... talked to manager on duty, Tyler who shared with me he had several staff call out sick. My order was corrected, and he graciously added some extras to recognize my frustration. This situation could have easily resulted in a lost customer. But despite his clear distress and weariness, Tyler was able to rectify the situation. Went for a family reunion back in April but what I want to commend the managers on was they went above and beyond when I lost a jade earring in their restaurant. I called several times and they couldn't find it but after a month or so they called me back as someone had found it in the parking lot and they sent it all the way to Florida to me. This one has the typical menu; I opted to try the full rack of BBQ ribs, and should've known better (why order ribs at a chain place so close to KC? Got me....) If you're looking for a decent, cheap meal, and a place to find cheap drinks, Cheddar's has it for you. This isn't a place to impress your first date or to get an excellent gourmet meal. It's one step up from Denny's and one step below Chili's. That being said, there is enough variety on the menu to please almost anyone. There are a couple of vegetarian items on the menu. I chose the Vegetable Plate, which consists of a house salad and four sides, all for $5.99. Freakin' cheap! I also got a sangria for $3.50. Hella cheap, average food, decent service. Traveling home from Kansas City and decided to stop in St. Joe for dinner. We had a party of 11. I was told they could not sit us together. I was not happy about it but accepted her answer. As we were being seated, I noticed that there were a bunch of empty tables, I asked why they could not put them together for us. I was told no they can't there was not a server in that section. However, there were people seated in that section. I asked for a manager. When the manager came to talk to me, I explained that we were there to have dinner as a family and would like to sit together, he again told me the same thing. When I told him that I thought this was ridiculous he looked at me and said I think I will just refuse service to you. I have never been refused service, makes me feel like there was something more to it. Or they were just plain lazy and did not want our business. Very unfortunate that your restaurant cannot accommodate family's. The restaurant next door was happy to have us. I love Cheader's but will never spend one more cent there. read more
