Chips are fresh cut fries and the fish is battered well- not oily and super crispy. We got to chat with our waitress who told us they're pretty particular with the fish they bring into the store and after eating it i believe it. We also had some leftover to take home. I need to try the Orange roughy one of these days when they have it in, because it's not everyday you see that as an option. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!

The shrimp was coconut shrimp rather than being normal battered shrimp (this isn't mentioned on the main menu, but elsewhere). It was decent, though the slightly spicy cocktail sauce did not really go with it. There was quite a bit of "shrimp" (i.e. reformed shrimp patty with a shrimp tail stuck in). Both dishes came with a small serving (sauce container) of coleslaw. It was decent - crisp & tasty, though a touch sharp.

I asked the waitress and they said it was coming. After we saw one more table that came in after get served, I asked the kitchen this time and they said they do it by the ticket. If that was the case we would have had our food before all this other tables. Literally all it was, was halibut and chips and that's what all those tables were served. The staff (3/5) was highly attentive to all tables, but there were more than a few instances where staff were just loitering about in the dining room or talking on their cell phones, which was somewhat uncomfortable since we were mere feet away. The checkout experience (1/5) was made incredibly awkward by their POS device from Clover. The brand-new touch-screen device wasn't responding properly to the screen being tapped. No checkout experience is comfortable when the server (albeit necessarily) has to hover over the customer in case anything (which likely will here) go wrong. Kudos to our server though - she did a great job walking us through the transaction. I have been to this plaza a few times over the years. I've been to the Tim Hortons a handful of times. I was at Mom's Pan-fried Buns a few months ago, which is a couple of businesses down from The Big Catch. This plaza has lots of parking. I pulled into a parking spot and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a friendly, efficient woman. I got halibut and chips as my main meal. I paid for a can of Diet Coke with a credit card. Tap. Done! I found a table. I caught up with some photos on my phone. It didn't take long for my food to arrive. I had to ask for my Diet Coke. She was running the entire fry-seating show, so I was patient. I finally got my drink. Yay! The halibut was a decent portion. I got a lot of fries. My meal came with a lemon slice and tartar sauce. There was also a bottle of ketchup on the table. I loved the halibut. The batter was light and crispy. The fish was flaky and yummy. I loved dunking my halibut in the tartar sauce that tasted homemade. The fries were good. Just too many of them for my liking. I dunked them in both ketchup and tartar sauce. My Diet Coke helped wash everything down. Thank goodness I got one. It was cold. I got a straw. The woman was great. She asked how my meal was while I was dining. It was a nice touch. I had to use the washroom twice. I came into the eatery after driving for 1.5 hours from Mississauga and downing a beverage. It's a single stall for everyone. It was clean, but dated. I used it again before I headed home. It's funny that I had washroom in mind when I got here that I completely forgot to grab some change to leave a tip. I went back to my car to get some, came back into the eatery, and let the woman know that I was back to give a tip. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Got the chicken fingers for the kids with $4 extra for poutine. The poutine gravy was very salty though. Can't eat the whole thing. I came during COVID times and was looking for outdoor dining and found this restaurant…read more There are only 2 tables located outside the restaurant for outdoor dining. We sat down and the waitress greeted us immediately and gave us menus. We ordered two daily specials of the Halibut w/ garden salad, fries, and soup of the day ($14.95). For this price, the portions were super filling and well worth it. The halibut tasted super fresh and was fried perfectly. The fries, salad, and soup were a great touch too. The staff were super nice, and I saw many customers walking in and out for take out. It does seem like a busy spot for food. They also have other dishes as well besides fish and chips. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely come back and try out the other dishes!
