I have no words! Hands down one of the best fish and chips spots I have been to!…read more Fish is fresh, never dry. Batter is super crispy never overdone or greasy. Portions are generous and the coleslaw and fries are amazing and complete the fish so well. I can eat just a plateful of their fries. Service is great, all the servers are so incredibly nice and friendly. It is always packed at lunch & dinner. Def a local favourite because everyone there knows each other. We tried the haddock, halibut and breaded shrimp! I wish I could have shared more photos, but when the plates are brought to the table I can't resist digging in right away! The menu options are great where you can get 3 pieces of haddock or halibut with 2 orders of fries. Lots of parking and plenty of seating inside. Takeout orders are 5% off. The menu is great with so many options! We first tried Joy's 6 weeks ago - we have been back almost every week since our first visit. When it's time to pay they give you a scratch card with your receipt - everyone is a winner. To redeem the card, spend $35 on your next visit for the free item. Some of the items you can scratch and win are , haddock & fries, halibut & fries, Joys feast special, large plate of fries. I'm sure there are more as these are just the items we have won. Options for fish and chips are very limited in Markham, so I love the option of visiting Stouffville nearby for Joy's Fish & Chips. Until next time...

Review My wife and I…read morehave been wanting to visit the Puffin for some time, after attending Sunday night's Jig Dinner event I can honestly say it was well worth the wait. The restaurant is small, but it also works because of the intimate setting and is comfortable. Parking Though there is not a lot of spots available, there is enough if you arrive early, the staff was supportive in helping us find a spot, so despite what some other reviewers might say, the parking is adequate. Seating We both found the seating comfortable and spacious. The seats are comfortable which is important especially when you start to get invested in the entertainment that was provided during the dinner. Cleanliness This might be where my only complaint will be, the restaurant itself is clean, it smells fresh and has a very homey feeling which is very refreshing. I found that while waiting for dinner it was nice to look at some of the pictures and novelties that are the Newfoundland culture. What I didn't like though was the state of the washroom. The toilet seat was broken and one of the nobs on the tap faucet was missing. Entertainment I cannot say enough positive things about how talented, sociable both John Prince and Donny Wood are. If you do not get caught up with the music, you need to check your pulse. I cannot remember the last time I had so much fun during a dinner engagement. Staff First let me say, from the moment we arrived until the time we left, the staff and owners were attentive to us, very friendly (including come out to our car to let us know they are opening the door for seating). You can tell this team works well together and they enjoy and is appreciative of the community that supports them. Food This is where the Puffin really shines, the portion they serve you is well above average, you will not leave hungry, and the turkey, beef and vegetables are cooked to perfection. Leaving the restaurant, we felt full, and enjoyed every bite. Overall Definitely worth the trip, tasty food, good times, and an experience you will not want to forget. The team was on par, friendly and sociable. The entertainment was a five star experience and the food made you feel it was time for a trip to Newfoundland to enjoy the culture. Other than the facilities (which let me be clear is clean) I would rank this as one of the best experiences I have had in some time. I give this a strong 4.5/5

I will not be back. It's a single portion of fish for $18 at the cheapest and up from there. The fries are fine and portion of those is good imo, then you get a teeny coleslaw if you opted for the upgrade which is a regular thing with fish and chips but price wise makes no sense to me.

Pros: The staff are consistently friendly and always remind you about the regular and gluten‑free menus, which offer a variety of options like fish and chips, fries, battered pineapple, and poutine. I have Celiac Disease and have eaten here many times with no issues related to cross‑contamination. My two favourites are the gluten‑free battered mushrooms with house sauce and the poutine -- both generous portions, the mini poutine fills me up. Food is made fresh to order and comes out hot. Simple ordering process you order from their food truck, which has a little sheltered interior. Typically I wait 7-15 mins for the food to be ready, theres also free condiments and seasoning that can be used, and there is a small outdoor picnic areas to sit. It's a nice spot to stop for lunch. Cons: Parking can be difficult during peak times. The food is on the expensive side, especially the gluten‑free menu (which I have to order from due to Celiac). The to‑go utensils are a bit flimsy 50% of the time the forks break, and the elastic bands use to hold the togo lids on broke on 2 out of 3 items I ordered, and one spilled my last trip, which was frustrating. (I'd get gravy on the side just next time). Sometimes the battered mushrooms have a fishy smell makes me believe they are using the same oil as the fish which i dont like, with the mushrooms being a vegetarian option. Finally they dont accept credit cards only cash and debit which may be a hassle to some. Overall I would recommend this restaurant/ food truck to others :)

What a lovely local business!…read more Family owned and cute spot with great service. We came in for dinner and were not disappointed. Ordered the fish and chips obviously - one haddock and one cod. Upgraded my side to their chowder and we got a side of mushy peas. I have absolutely no complaints because i think they do it right. Chips are fresh cut fries and the fish is battered well- not oily and super crispy. We got to chat with our waitress who told us they're pretty particular with the fish they bring into the store and after eating it i believe it. We also had some leftover to take home. I need to try the Orange roughy one of these days when they have it in, because it's not everyday you see that as an option. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!

But after so many times doing takeout it only happened once, so not bad at all. Halibut: 4.75/5 crispy and then soft inside. Yum. The last few years things had been hit and miss here, but after a few transitional pains (service was slow for a bit back in 2020 as the staff got used to how things worked), things are running smoothly, and it's now by far my favourite food truck. I've tried many of the things on the menu, but I'll review those I've had multiple times. Tied for my favourites are the fish and the poutine. Not exactly sure what they're frying in, but the fish batter is spectacular, and doesn't leave the greasy feeling on the roof of your mouth that some other places do. I usually go with the haddock, but the halibut is great too. As for the poutine: while the gravy is a little darker than traditional poutine gravy, it really tasty. What really makes it are the fries and the cheese curds. The fries are cut fresh, and are really tasty. And they sure don't skimp on the cheese curds. Unlike some other places, there's no need to wonder if you'll have enough curds and gravy to go around. The burger is homemade and tasty. Doesn't come with a toasted bun though, so be sure to ask if you like yours toasted. I also love the dill pickle chips. With so many chip trucks in York region, one needs to be pretty special to keep me coming back regularly. Whatever they're doing here is working though, and I find myself here a lot during the summer. Keep up the great work!
