I hope this place succeeds. Reminded me of the good old days of Zebulon, a jazz club before its time in Petaluma. What I like about jazz, or an important element: no self professing lyrics, just music coming from an instrument. What I like about The Big Easy club is the ambience, low lights, good size stage & dance floor(if need be), location, center of downtown, Food available from the owners restaurant just a stone throw away. Nice long bar, a splatter of tables & chairs in the main area, decent wine & beer list & waitress service, booths on each side. What I'm not fond of......wine glass needed to be returned for cleanliness, hint, bartender should always check out the glass prior to serving wine, beverages. Hey it happens. Booths have too tall of separation so you can't see the stage. If the glass can't be removed perhaps more tables on the main area, I think you can squeeze more people there & it will give it a more clubby kinda feel e.g. Yoshis, Ok ok that's a reach but you know what I'm saying. If there's a dance band then remove them, Nice big & clean ladies room, put a dimmer in there, please. Other than that I hope the acts get better with time & people come out & support this classy new venue. It will be on my radar. read more

Wow just wow. Went to see a fabulous jazz/eclectic band a couple weeks ago and swore I was in NYC or SF. Hip! Great music. Great bar and service. Great acoustics. It was one of the BEST nights I've had out in P-town ever. I'm so happy this opened and I hope it thrives!! read more

I'm writing this from inside this establishment to complain about the lack of fans near the dance floor. I was told the fans had to stay off to avoid overloading the same circuits the band uses & cause an electrical short. It's like a sauna a up at the dance floor. Walked over from The Speakeasy because the bathroom is here at The Big Easy and was blow away by the 13 piece band of young men. I ended up finishing my beer and having my next one here. Great vibes and the music sounds great, which is hard to find indoors these days. read more

Was a great experience, our waiter was so nice! He suggested great and amazing tasting foods, took back food we didn't like with no problem, defiantly will want to revisit this place, and everybody else was very kind and nice, and helpful! The perfect end to our date night was a stop at this lively jazz joint. Friendly service, awesome jazz and unique but cozy ambience. Wish they had better wine offerings, but other than that we had a very relaxing and fun time here. A new P town treasure for sure! read more

These guys are doing it right! They are the sister club of Speakeasy across the alley. My wife and I went a couple weeks ago and had a great time. They had a great organ jazz trio playing and the atmosphere was really fun! Great food and beer selection as well. I look forward to coming back soon! read more

love this place. I try to think of reasons to goo Petaluma (I'm in santa Rosa) on evenings so that I can eat the lobster Mac n cheese as well as the edamame hummus appetizer. To begin this ordeal, I called up to see if it would be best to make a reservation and they told me that it was not necessary. So I was not given a chance to make that happen. When we got there before the show yesterday I was dissapointed to find out that I really needed a reservation since most spots were already taken or had a reserved sign on the table. We were given the option of only a few remaining open tables. So we sat up front by the bathrooms. I had to go get some menus since they didn't give it to us when we first showed up at the door. After reading over the menu for a little bit the waitress finally showed to ask if she could get us some drinks. We ordered drinks and finally decided what to order. After she brought us our drinks we placed our order and after awhile finally got that and ate our food. The food wasn't too bad but too high priced for such a small portion. The waitress never offered us water at any point in the experience while dining there. The waitress never came back by to check on us during our meal to see how things were going if we liked it. After we were done eating they cleared the table and by this time there were too many people in the place. They were there for the show at 8:30 which didn't start until later. The waitress came back over to see if we wanted dessert and we said no. That was the last time we saw her that night. The waitress's attitude was not the most welcomed in the place as I could tell by her demeanor and stance. It was liked we bothered her by coming in that night. Her name is Claire F. I would stay away from this woman or just never visit this place. The music was way too loud as well for such a small venue. We were trying to pay our bill only if someone like Claire would come back by to check on us. She never offered us our check even after checking if we wanted dessert. We sat around waiting and waiting and waiting for no one. We finally had the busboy come over and I mentioned to him we would like our check he signaled like I will get your waitress and thought everything was good from there. Nope, we still waited around and no one. So we got up and left thinking everything was groovy then. I do understand walking out without paying your bill is a no no but this was not only annoying but down right rude to not check on your customers. We left the establishment and not a few moments later we were followed out by our waitress. She mentioned to us that you were not going to pay for the bill. And we said we would if you would give us our check but you never checked on us. We don't like be ignored or forgotten about. She mentioned that she thought we didn't need anything and that she was busy. We also told her that even if your busy you still come and check on your customers. We went back inside and paid our bill. Because of her attitude we didn't leave her a tip. She got so upset over this after noticing this that she read us the riot act and said I was nothing but good to you. She broke down in a very poor bad attitude at that moment and made it even worse. We told her she was being extremely rude and this is not allowed in the service industry to confront a customer about the no tip or a poor one. Take it as a learning experience and do better next time. To top matters more she then told us to leave or I will get my manager to kick us out. We are not allowed in here now. Just because of the no tip and her attitude we were not planning on staying around anyways. This is not the way to handle a customer. I wanted out of that place to never come back every again. If you like rowdy people and poor service then this is your place. Otherwise I would suggest just staying home and having a better evening with your family. We were really dissappointed since we tried this place for the first time. First and only time. read more

First time at the Big Easy to see an amazing band called Glass Brick Boulevard. I called ahead of time to arrange a table for my group. I had the great pleasure to speak to Amber. What a delightful, smart and extremely helpful gal. This is a very cool and unique little hide-away. The food comes from The Speak Easy restaurant right next door and features delicious meals and tapas. Great selection of beers and wines. The staff was extremely attentive and service was great. It is obvious the they are eager for you to have a wonderful experience. Again, I was quite impressed with Amber who came by to introduce herself and make sure we were having a great time. This is a very sharp crew. Reading back my review it sounds like I have a stake in this place. I am not connected to anyone at the Big Easy so this review is a sincere one for anyone wanting to have a good time, eat some delicious food, have some adult beverages. Cheers, Marty read more

It was my girlfriends birthday and we got a few friends together to celebrate. Walked into The Big Easy but wasn't sure if it was our crowd. The bartender name Porter came over and took care of us by finding us a booth and within minutes all of us had fabulous drinks in hand. Such an amazing place to heng out, laugh, enjoy music, dance and even talk till 2am! The service is spot on, with Porter, the waiter paying special attention to detail and your needs. This place is awesome!!!!! The food is incredible, service couldn't be better and live music!! It doesn't get better than that! The four of us tried a variety of items , the Pomegranate chicken, short ribs, hanger steak and salmon all were incredible. For apps, cheese board with the bacon jam is to die for! I've seen some good music here but they need to fix the food/drink situation. We came early for a show and there were only a few people there. We ordered sparkling wine, then dinner. Then we waited. Dinner came, still nothing to drink. Finally we got the sparkling wines with no explanation of why it took forever to get them (they weren't busy at all). The Speakeasy menu has drinks other than wine and beer, so I asked our server for one of the "fake vodka" drinks. She said I'd have to go over to Speakeasy to get one, so I went to the restaurant and ordered one. The server said she'd bring it over. After waiting a while, she came and told me it's illegal to carry alcohol outside so I couldn't have the drink unless I drank it at Speakeasy (not at the Big Easy, where the music was). I tried to order coffee after dinner and, same thing, I'd have to go to the restaurant and pay for it separately. It's very disjointed and confusing, and I agree with the other reviewers that the food is expensive for the small amount you get. It's great if you just go for the music. I hope they get their act together because it has a lot of potential! read more
