Food was good. Interesting, eclectic menu. I had a fish taco and a pork bahn mi taco, both very good. My companion had a California burger and they enjoyed that as well. So if I was basing they review on food alone it's an easy 4 to 4.5 stars. Service was lacking. I arrived first and took a small table in the very back corner. When the waiter came by I let them know I was meeting a friend I hadn't seen in over a year and we were planning a long lunch. It was a Saturday afternoon and not busy. My guest arrived and the sever didn't come back for at least 10 min. But ok. No biggie. We ordered a soda and an iced tea. When those arrived we ordered food. My tacos came quickly and then we sat, looking at my food while we waited for the other entrée, the burger. 10 minutes later it shows up served by another server, no explanation or even acknowledgement that it took 10 minutes between me being served and my companion being served. Anyway our server was MIA for the rest of our stay. No offer of a refill for our beverages, no asking if the food was ok. Nothing. We stayed about 2 hours total and my normal policy is to double the tip because I have taken a table for about twice as long as normal. Unfortunately service was sub par. Oh and tea was incredibly strong not in a good way. read more

Let me start off by saying how much I really enjoyed the food here! Excellent menu! Yesterday was my first time here, came in from out of town and really wanted to check this place out. 100% on the food. Ordered the tuna melt and had a delicious coconut cocktail. I would come back for that and sit at the bar! Service- absolutely awful. Our server, Hadley, was very cold, unwelcoming, unhospitable, never once smiled or even tried to fake excitement for having a guests. As someone who has been in the service industry for 20 years, I know first rule is drop your attitude at the door and be nice to the patrons spending their money. I really like The Banshee--the food, atmosphere, and other staff are great--but I've now witnessed the same female staff member, who I believe may be a manager, confront and belittle customers on two separate occasions. Both times, people were simply laughing and talking amongst themselves when she approached them with things like, "Were you talking about me?" or "What did you say about me?" Last night it wasn't even our group being confronted, but people near us, and it made the entire table uncomfortable. It's bizarre and incredibly unprofessional behavior in a public bar where people are there to socialize and have fun. Unfortunately, two nearly identical incidents with different customers makes this feel like a pattern rather than a misunderstanding. What an awful way to treat people. Would have given more stars but, she made me never want to step foot in this place again. Everything else about this place is great. I genuinely hope management addresses this. read more

Came in on a Monday night and were seated right away, though the bar itself was fully packed. The playlist was peak elder-millennial: 90s alt rock, just the right kind of nostalgic. You know when you can taste whether a place cleans their lines? The Banshee cleans their lines. Or they go through enough Guinness that it never has time to go stale. Either way, the pour was flawless: perfect temp, perfect head, perfect timing to the table. My partner's a little heartbroken now, knowing he'll be chasing this pour for a long time. As a Vietnamese girl, I was skeptical of the Viet fusion items, but they were done really well with respect to the the original flavor profiles. The tomato soup that came with the grilled cheese was a little tart for me, but my partner loved it. Solid spot. Good food. Excellent beer. Great energy. No wonder it's a staple. read more

1000% biased review but this place already has my vote of confidence because within 10 minutes of being here they played Kaytranada and Masego on the sound system. Now I will try to be objective for the rest of this review: Ambiance has a good chill vibe on a Saturday night around 11, which sounds late but the night crawlers are still getting dressed so there's that. Came in for an order of wings and staff was cool to let me place the order close to kitchen closing time. Good spot to catch up on ESPN late night before moving on. Food came out quick for late night. Definitely get the sauce for your wings on the side if you like your wings crispy. Yum. Got the classic burger as well. This was pretty damn good with a great size patty and fresh condiments. Solid to wash down with a beer from their various options. Bonus this place has a regular bar as well for cocktails but still gives more brewery vibes. Definitely worthwhile to come check out. read more

Out for a nice dinner on Chavez Day. Went out to The Banshee and got the fish and chips... The portion was out of this world! Came with 4 pieces of fish and a ton of fries! The fish was pretty well fried and the fries were super crispy. Came with a huge bowl of tartar to dip and an amazing side of slaw. Im not usually a big fan of cole slaw but this one was one id eat again. The fries although were supper crispy and a large amount, had a little took much salt on them, no biggie tho. I went at 4pm and there were plenty of spaces open. Ordered from the bar after getting our seats. It must have not been dinner time as there weren't any waiters or much other staff other than the bartenders. The dark wood, the curtains in the little front windows, the vibe and the food is lovely. Went yesterday for food to go and sat at the bar while we waited. Service was prompt, perhaps some folks complaining haven't worked in service themselves because I've never had a bad experience outside of them being slammed (where a wait is to be expected) The Mac and cheese is bomb and grateful for NA beer selection. A must stop whenever you are in Chico. We walked in on a busy Saturday night and were lucky enough to grab two seats at the bar. We were immediately welcomed with menus and water. I really liked this place. We were visiting Chico, and seeing what yelp had to say, and the pub-plus-Magners-on-tap-plus-fun-looking-sandwiches made it a winner. We had kids with us, so we got there an hour before it became 21+. Everyone was friendly, the food came pretty quick relative to how hopping it was. We ordered: Pho-rench dip (w/fries)--I think this was a DDD sandwich, so it's not some hidden gem, but it was super tasty. You cannot go wrong. The slight lime-iness of the dipping broth really kicked it into turbo. Also, we all likes the steak fries--a note on that later. Chicken Cheese Steak (w/fries)--my wife loved it. I tried a bite, and it was great--a little mushroom-forward, but we like that. Mac and Cheese--do not be fooled by the slightly smaller bowl, it is very filling. My son can eat his birth weight in pasta, and he had to tap out! I tried a bite--it was creamy (not grainy at all), and was just the right amount of salty and cheese-funky. Grilled cheese and tomato soup (w/fries)--perhaps the least successful for my family, but only because my daughter prefers a smoky/spicy tomato soup, and this was more on the sweet side. The griled cheese was of the "crispy cheese on the outside" ilk, which my daughter thought was really good. So, totally would go again. IMPORTANT NOTE (to people traveling through Chico, or who don't want to take leftovers)--the sandwiches are pretty big, and the add-on fry order is also sizeable. If we were going again tomorrow, we would either order 1 fry instead of 3. Or split a sandwich. Very very good pub. read more

I heard lots of good reviews about this restaurant, so I finally got a chance to check it out. There is a nice old, rustic, feel to this place. When you walk in the bar is to the left and the kitchen, to the right. There are lots of seatings all around the restaurant: at the bar, in front of the kitchen and on the side / back of the house. The portions are pretty big for bar like food! I ordered the fish and chips. Got lots of fries, 3 pieces of fish and two decent size servings of coleslaw and tartar sauce. The fish were delicious! Crispy and flaky! The fries were steak cut fries, thick and kind of over salted / salty. ($20) One of my friends got the quesadilla and the other got the 1/2 portion size Philly cheesesteak with fries- they both enjoyed it too! The service was great.! I was asking for things left and right and our server was very helpful. I was told the bowl of pho was delicious and seasonal ?? Soooo - maybe when it gets colder, I'll come back and try it! But I do want to try their French dip with pho broth ! Sounds delicious! read more

DELICIOUS food. You cannot go wrong. Mac and cheese is unmatched. And I've searched high and low. I add the jalapeños, mushrooms, and bacon. Also amazing: their burgers, tacos, pho, and fries. If you come at the right time, you can get a table. It's not the best ambience for like a sit-down meal, kinda loud, seats somewhat uncomfortable for me, but I deal with it because the food is consistent. And, again, you just can't go wrong. Service is low key and I've never had a problem. I can almost always get their attention. I've never personally had a problem, but there was one time where after going here, my mom's card information was stolen. She now only pays cash here. Granted, they openly prefer cash, and I think there's a 3% surcharge for any card transactions (I always wonder if they'd get more people paying cash if they said there was a *discount* instead of an extra charge, but who knows. I don't run a restaurant.) I can't remember if it was them or B Street (same owner, or at least used to be, I know there was some movement in that regard a while back), but at least one of them has "Cash is king" written on their menu. read more

Loved this place for years. The bahmi French dip is so good. Enhanced with the garlic parm fries and you are in for a treat. Watermelon spicy margi and any number of their taps is good for pairing. Great location near the school and wonder bar tenders. Can't go wrong here. Enjoy. read more

They don't have a big menu, but their food is pretty good. As a vegetarian I usually get they their quesadilla or impossible burger (usually pretty good, but it's been a bit on the salty side lately). Their quesadilla is a healthy portion and it's my favorite meal to get from there. Their fries are bomb and they have a great selection of craft beers!
