Service: A. I think they do really good work here. I have taken in a $200 bike and a $4,000 bike. They do great work. They even did work on my di2 electronic shifting and did an awesome job. I have been there probably 6 times for service and my only complaint is I always feel like I am being upsold or that the estimates for work are overinflated. The first few times I brushed it off because I was in a rush and wanted to ride, but as I have more time I really just go somewhere else if the estimate is way off the market rate. Also, they are not following any kind of COVID precaution that I saw in terms of wearing a mask. read more

This place is such a backwater mess. I told them I had the disc brake and mine was sent from the manufacture since it came bent. He says $60 because it takes him too long. He also made me walk the damn bike over so he could see it. I wouldn't give this guy the time of day to even ASK about your issue. He is rude and wanted to charge me 50% of the brand new bike's worth to change a disc brake. What a JOKER. I walked the bike home and fixed it myself in less than 30 minutes. WHY DID I EVEN BOTHER? They were professional and prompt, turned the box of parts into a perfectly tuned e-bike in less than 24 hours. When I had a question, and they took the time to help me out over the phone. I really appreciate Bike Connection staff's professionalism, competence, and expert knowledge. The prices were higher than some competitors in the area, but still very reasonable and they offer a good value considering the quality of service. The Bike Connection charges $26 to fix one flat tire. ($11 for the tube + $15 for labor) I know times are hard but this seems unreasonable. Everyone who worked there was present and helpful but id rather go to my old bike shop further away. They were snobby and high brow bike people, but only charged $15 to repair one flat tire. I ordered a Swytch kit to turn my 2021 Trek gravel bike into an electric-assisted bike; my kit arrived a couple of days ago. I needed a new front disk rotor, as the one on the bike wasn't compatible with Swytch, and found that the 2 bike shops nearest me were closed on Sundays. I ended up at The Bike Connection, where I met Felix and his wife Sharon, who own the shop. Felix found a suitable rotor and installed it while I waited, so I was out of there in 15 minutes. I installed the rest of the Swytch kit and found that the front wheel wasn't turning entirely freely, even after attempting to adjust the brakes. I called The Bike Shop and spoke with Roberto this morning and asked if I could bring my bike in so that they could take a look at the brakes. He said to bring it on in. Felix worked on my bike and found that a piece of the Swytch motor hub was rubbing against the bike's fork. He took the rotor off, removed a plastic spacer, put it back together, and, presto, the wheel now turns freely. I had him look at a couple of other issues, including my seat not staying put, which he promptly fixed. I got out of there within a half hour with my bike now ready to ride. I met Felix and Sharon's son, Roberto, with whom I had spoken on the phone earlier; he was working on another bike, again for a walk-in customer. The customer's new bike's front brake was squealing; Roberto bled the brakes and had the guy on his way in about 10 minutes. I am sure that they can't always give this kind of immediate service, as some fixes take more time, but I was very impressed with the service that I received. AWFUL PLACE I'll never go there again. BUYER BEWARE !!!!!! I bought something ($50.00 item) and found out I needed to return it Never even unwrapped the item... I returned about twenty minutes later and asked to return it and asked for a refund... I was then told: THEY DO NOT ALLOW REFUNDS or EXCHANGES !!!! ALL SALES ARE FINAL !!! My kids just stopped by to have the chain replaced on their bike because it snapped while riding. This Hispanic guy wanted to rip them off by charging them $60 dollars for a $28 chain. On top of that, he wanted another $15 to install it. I walked over and asked him why I'm he's charging rhem more than double the msrp and he responded that I could just go buy it somewhere else. What a rude con artist........how could he rip off two innocent kids stranded on the street! He was so embarrassed that he just wanted me of of there! Immediately left and headed to REI and purchased the chain for $28 and paid another $20 for installation. read more

I LOVE this place! Have been going for years. Felix and Roberto are so good at what they do, and can diagnose and fix just about anything, assuming they have the time (they are always busy). Lupita is always very helpful (as long as you are polite, so mind your manners, LOL). Their pricing is also very reasonable, and they are as flexible as can be. I find it ludicrous that The Bike Connection wants $29.99 for SPD cleats and $15.99 to install them. I would have thought that by calling a local, neighborhood bike store I would have received a fair price. This is just insane! I can order them from Amazon and switch them out myself for far less but had hoped dropping in here to quickly switch out my LOOK cleats would have been a simple fair task. I've called several other stores that are all significantly less and do not charge to install. I'd say skip this place for sure, not only are they over priced, they are so over priced I can't respect the business. read more

I came here about a year ago and this place was the best! I need spinning shoes because I had just joined Blazing Saddles which is right around the corner. Blazing Saddles had referred me over to them. I had never bought spin shoes so I didn't really know what to look for or what I needed. The guy that helped me was so awesome! He was knowledge, friendly, and patient. He got me the shoes that felt perfect on and put the clips on that I needed but didn't quite understand that I needed. He knew everything. He gave me a great deal too! The amazing thing is I still have my shoes, I wear them everyday and they are still in perfect condition. Great quality, great price, and great service. Karma always wraps around and gets you when you least expected. I am grateful to Bike Connections because they instantly filled my yoga ball with air without any hesitation. It was actually very comical. I walked in. I said hi. They saw I had an uninflated yoga ball under my arm. A rep reached out his hands with a smile as if he was saying, "Okay, just hand it over so I can pump it up with air." I smiled even bigger in excitement knowing he knew exactly what I was there for even without an exchange of a single word except, "Hi." We had small talk and when he was done filling it with air I asked how much I owed him and the owner turned and gave his nod of approval with his gestures to say, "Nothing." Super rude unhelpful came in wanting to get some tubes replaced and get my bikes tuned up (3 of them) They basically said my bikes were worthless and they didn't want to help me. Went in this weekend to get two flat tires repaired. Was charged $26 for each tire- that's way more than I've ever paid anywhere else. Also, the woman behind the counter wasn't wearing a mask (?!), there are no plexi-glass shields at checkout or around the repair area, doors are not kept open to allow air flow. This is the only business I've seen that is just blatantly ignoring COVID precautions. The woman working the cash register has a very nervous and rude energy. Seriously, SO RUDE. Was going to buy some accessories but I didn't want to give them more of my business. Won't be going back. Who doesn't wear a mask when there's a pandemic surge going on?! Disgusted. read more

Insulting. Expensive. Poor customer service. They deserve negative stars but this does not seem possible. I needed one tire for one bike and a tuneup for two bikes. They sneered and offered to do their best but "the bikes were old. " Neither the Marin or Giant bikes were new, but they were not old. They have run great since we bought them. They quoted me $300 per bike for a tuneup, and said that both bikes had bad tubes and tires. We had them replace the tires and tubes and Roberto "included" oiling the chains. We went to pick up the bikes and yes, the tires and tubes were replaced, the chains were oiled, but they had not bothered to wipe down the bikes (dusty only from being in our garage) and said we would have to ride at our own risk, because we had opted to skip the pricy tuneups. The next day, one of the tires was flat and would not reinflate - the bike had not been ridden since we picked it up from the Bike Connection. Since this store is not open on Sundays, I had to take it to a different shop- which is open from 8am SEVEN days a week. Bike Shop LA, 8250 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood. The people at the Bike Shop LA could not have been more accommodating, welcoming and warm. Wonderful service in the middle of a disappointing and unexpected situation. I watched the repairman at Bike Shop LA (aka Bikes and Hikes) take the tire apart. He showed me the hole in the inner-tube. He checked the new tire and old wheel for damage, spikes, etc., there was nothing. A new inner-tube was installed, bike put back together in less than 10 minutes and I was on my way for $16 (tube plus install). Bike Shop LA also quoted my $60 per bike for a tuneup- I will be back. Since having Bike Shop LA replace the inner tube, the bike has been ridden for many miles and there is no problem with the new inner-tube. The following week, I returned to the Bike Connection to request a reimbursement ONLY for the bad tube and they tried to blame me for a bad rim, which was not the case given that BOTH shops (The Bike Connection AND Bike Shop LA) checked everything before replacing the tube. Since having Bike Shop LA replace the inner tube, the bike has been ridden for many miles and there is no problem with the new inner-tube. After an argument with Roberto about a $16 dollar store credit at The Bike Connection, I walked away with $11. I showed him the $16 receipt (which is all we asked for as a refund) from Bike Shop LA to fix the bad work but they said we should have waited until they were open to have the tube replaced. It didn't matter that I was supposed to be on a prearranged ride on Sunday and could not wait until Monday. As other reviewers have said BUYER BEWARE! This place may be in an easy location in the SFV, but it is not worth the high prices, nasty attitude and poor work. Go elsewhere! read more

This was my second time at this shop and my last. Just FYI I was ready to make a purchase of 2 helmets that YES COST $250 EACH but thanks to your ignorant remarks and lack of professionalism that you projected, this mom and pop shop missed out on not only $500 but most of all two hard working customers that were planning on being regulars. Though this shop has two extremely hard workers Felix and Roberto that have shown genuine respect there is no way I would ever even consider coming back to spend my hard earned money. I have purchased 3 bikes from this bike shop and I can speak from experience that they are the best bike shop in town. The owner Felix is the best and makes you feel welcomed as soon as you walk thru the door. His knowledge on bikes is outstanding. Roberto is a great mechanic and also has tremendous knowledge on bikes. All of them ride so they speak from experience. Prices are reasonable but you can't put a price on great customer service. Lupita is the newest addition to the team and she was awesome and also very knowledgeable. This is not your average Mom and Pop bike shop but it certainly feels that way once inside and once you interact with the people that work there. Felix has plenty of followers from his time at Beverly Hills bike shop. They continue to follow him out to the Valley even from way out there. He is a humble owner that cares about his customers and will go the extra mile to please them. For the customer that gave this place a bad rating. I'm sure Felix would've taken care of the issue if you would have brought it up to him. read more

We went to The Bike Connection to get my daughter's training wheels taken off and to buy her some bike accessories, and maybe even a new bike. Upon arrival, we were greeted by one of the owners or employees who had a mask around his neck, but not over his face. I kindly asked him to put on his mask, as we had ours on, and were going to be in close proximity to him. He responded with "I don't have to, if I don't want to." So we left. This is not the place you want to go to for a reasonable repair job. Brought my bike in for repairs, was "assessed" and estimated $400... when I asked for just some of the work which would cost around $60-70 (to replace the front tire and cut off a lock I had gotten stuck on it - the most important repair since I literally can't ride the bike) the guy said no he wouldn't help me and that it wasn't worth their time. I was shocked, it was so rude and cold, and he finished it off by saying "I'm not going to play this game with you" Needless to say, a really disappointing customer experience. read more

I don't really have a "normal" place I go to when I need bike parts, service, etc.. So today, I gave Bike Connection a call because I have a nice MTN Bike which the disc brakes need to be bled, as one has completely lost pressure, so no stoppy. I normally do this stuff myself, but I'm on the tail end of a big project which a developer screwed the pooch on and it's about to be late, so this time I just can't do it myself as I don't even have 20 minutes free to myself to relax, let alone bleed brakes. I ask the guy on the phone how much it costs to bleed brakes. He says $50 for the front, $50 for the rear, and he jumps right in and says, "You know, because it takes a long time." 1st: It doesn't take a long time, it takes about 10-15 mins per brake and there's 2 of them. 2nd: I don't care about the cash, I make that $100 back in .75 hours. But here's the deal, I questioned the comment that it's going to take a long time, because it just doesn't. (wondering in the back of my mind whether or not he's lying to other people to rip people off and pocket cash under the noses of the owner) I asked why he said it'd take a long time to do that job and he replied that it just does.He asked if I had ever done it and I said yeah, I typically do it myself but can't this time. He then replied, "Why don't you do it yourself then." No, not a question, rather a snotty comment. WTF is that! Why don't I do it myself, this daft clown asked me. I responded, "Why do you think I"m calling you, BECAUSE I CAN'T THIS TIME AS I ALREADY SAID TO YOU, that's what your business is for, no?" That kind of attitude from a business ABSOLUTELY SUCKS. It should never happen. Had I ever answered a potential client that way, I'd expect to be black-balled in my industry. Forget this place, I'll NEVER EVER give them another dime. I called Universal Cycles, and an entire tune-up-including brakes & cleaning cost $85, and THEY'RE NICE & GIVE A SHIT. It's where I bought the bike anyhow. He fixed my damaged bike and instead of spending another 6-7k on a new one or trying to sell me a bike, he repaired my existing one and now it rides like new again. Despite the negative reviews, I think he is very nice and experienced. Will continue using him regardless of his pricing because I support small businesses. Very disappointed. Owner was incredibly rude and argumentative. Won't be coming back. We had a new bike ridden only twice with a hand brake that wasn't working. We were told it needed a tune up! It is a brand new bike. When we refused he wasnt happy. He fixed the hand brake but it is not fully operational so $$$ later it is still not right. Plus we asked if he could tighten a few bolts he said no! We asked could we borrow a tool and do it here he said I don't loan out my tools. No customer service!! read more
