We had a very surprising meal today at The Bird. I have never bitten into such great chicken. Everything from top chicken joints and even my homemade attempts were left in the dust by The Bird's tenders. Many complaints here about the mediocre sides. These sides are not culinarily creative but in their simplicity (like fried chicken itself) they were done to perfection. I can't understand any review under 5 stars. Can't make everyone happy it turns out. I understand that when base menu prices are extremely low there may be a need to charge for extra sauce. I guess some people don't connect those dots. Last night was my first time at The Bird. The service was great, even though they were closing inn10 minutes. The food was good. I especially like the chicken bites that came in the kids meal for my toddlers. There were plenty of them and they were the perfect size for not wasting. Fries were great - crispy and a little salty, but good. The chicken tenders were breaded, but not with flour; which isn't my favorite, but it was good and their wing sauce made it great! We have been really happy with the food here! We've ordered a few times now, and each time has been awesome. The chicken is very tender, moist, and not over-breaded. The sauces are all great. The mac and cheese is thick and creamy and the coleslaw is decent. The fries could be better, but we typically order the family feast and order side dishes that aren't fries. The cornpones with raspberry butter are delicious. Also, it's worth noting that they don't really have anywhere to sit, this is really a take-out only place. I really like this place for what it is. You can get good fried chicken strips or nuggets fast with decent sides for a great price. It would be nice to have a table or two but the bar along the wall is usually available since everyone gets their food to go. Why isn't this place talked about at all? I'm from salt lake and noticed it out he corner of my eye en route to antelope island. This place is hands down the best spot I've been to for chicken tenders, not only that, they have solid sides too and an array of dipping sauces for your tenders. It pains me to have to post a bad review. Being that this is a new and local restaurant, I would love to see it succeed. The concept is great and the atmosphere is nice and inviting. The food and customer service was awful. The first thing I wish I knew was that there is really no place or convenient way to eat at the establishment. This however has no effect on my two star review. The service was just awkward. Any questions we asked were basically responded to with confusion. I had to ask for our drink and water cups twice. We were given a limited number of sauce cups. This made me wonder if we were limited to only that many sauces. Still not sure if that was the case. We ordered a family pack for the four of us. There wasn't any plates available. There was only three seats at the only table inside. We ripped apart the to go boxes and pulled up a bench to accommodate ourselves. The food was completely unacceptable at any price. I can microwave a frozen meal with better results. The only possible saving grace could have been the cornpones, but they were cold and tasted slightly stale. The raspberry butter tastes great. read more

Ummm. I really don't love giving bad reviews, but I wish someone would have told me about this place for going. We came in for dinner with no line and quick service. The restaurant was clean which is the main reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1. One other positive is the ranch dressing was good. Now.. The food..... I was so disappointed. The fries were similar to undercooked frozen ore-ida fries you'd buy at the grocery store. I tried to eat the fries, since we paid for them and took the food to-go, but I could not. They were so bad. The chicken was edible, but nothing amazing. It also lacked any sort of crunch or texture. We also ordered a salad. The salad was definitely a bagged salad - which is fine. I know a lot of restaurants use bagged salads, but this one had nothing extra. Just a bag dumped into a plastic to go container with no extra anything. No croutons, no tomatoes, nada. Really disappointed. They havent been open for long. So.. hopefully they are just working through it all. But suggestions would be have descriptions under your menu items and an easier to understand ordering process, find a way to add texture to the chicken, cook the fries longer and add salt, add tomatoes and croutons to your salads. read more

So this place has no atmosphere the service was ok but apparently everything is to go, more on that later. There is a menu on the wall with little explanation. You have a choice of chicken tenders or bites. Tenders are strips bites are chicken balls and they are not bad. I was starving so I ordered a few tenders and some bites. Both are ordered by the each which is a little strange. They have a choice of sides and being hungry I went for the large salad. So I got a drink and was handed small dipping cups. I looked around and saw sauces lined up. I used the four cups and got different sauces, the wing sauce was the best. I sat down and waited for my order. They came out with a large bag and gave it to me, this is the to go part. I made it pretty obvious I was staying despite the fact I was never asked. Apparently they dont try to hide the fact that they used bagged salad as my salad came in a quart size zip lock bag accompanied by three small containers of dressing. Bites we're in a small cup and the stips in a box. The whole presentation was bizzare and made no sense. The salad that was in a bag and transferred to another bag cost me $4.50. I could have got a bag for half that. The chicken was ok but the menu is sparse at best. I had not intended to go there and I won't be going back. read more

A good place if you want something different from KFC or Chick-fil-A. I got chicken tenders and mashed potatoes/corn bread. Really simple ingredients mashed potatoes are really good with the country gravy and the corn bread is really good with the honey butter. Simple flavors but really good food and good service. Very good food! Love the variety of sauces offered. If service would have been as good as the food my family would all agree it would be a five star rating. When the cashier greeted us it was with a very monotone memorized greeting. There was no warm welcome or coming out to see how we are doing or restock the empty containers. Instead all three of the employees leaned against the counter with their backs to us and dancing to the store music. I guess I'm spoiled with Chick fil a and In n Out service. Their service puts The Bird's service to shame. Also this place must be more for take out because the seating was limited. One table with four chairs or high counter top and no high chairs for babies, so not friendly to families with children or large parties. read more

We ordered the family feast with the chicken tenders, mashed potatoes and Mac & cheese. It is well worth the $20.00! The tenders were huge and yummy without any dipping sauces! The mashed potatoes & Mac & cheese were excellent ! Will definitely go back! read more

The only thing not disappointing was the price. The chicken was a bit greasy and a little too peppered. The boy at the register made me feel like I was rushed and their was NO ONE behind me in line. Major lack of seating and just a pretty boring set-up all around. I ordered 3 chicken tenders, they gave me one sauce cup, which I guess is ok but I'm glad I didn't pay for an extra because I ended up tossing the wing sauce because it tasted like they added sugar or honey to it and refilled my cup with ranch which ended up in the trash at home because it was bland as hell. Maybe they'll make some changes, maybe I'll never go back......the future is unclear. read more

We like it and have it weekly. The chicken and sides are decent, not exceptional but pretty solid. I like the dipping sauce bar as well. I enjoy the different options but I don't love paying for each sauce cup. We will continue to enjoy this nice little gem in Syracuse. read more

Stopped in looking for something new. Fries were not completely cooked or salted. Ordered the family meal was only given 4 very small cups for sauce, so if you wanted sauce for your chicken and fries you had to pay .50 more for another cup. Will try again after they have been open awhile and see if they work out the kinks. read more
