Such a cool restaurant, definitely a must visit if you enjoy westerns, interesting mounts, and just that general vibe! Service was great, we came later in the afternoon and our food came out so fast! Big shout to them for working with my dairy, soy, and corn allergies and making food safe for me! I felt very confident that what I was eating was safe! My non allergy husband enjoyed his food as well! Thank you Prairie Schooner!

Had a much better experience this time around. My steak was still burned to a crisp, lol (even my friend questioned why a medium-rare steak was so over overly charred), but the salmon and sides were absolutely delightful! Our waiter even joked about the fact that their salmon tastes better than their steaks, which is ironic, considering they're a steakhouse! The ambiance also didn't disappoint, once again, and our server was great! I only wish that I could have remembered his name!

Prairie Schooner Steak House is an absolute darling of a place. Do yourself a favor and ask to sit in one of the wagons--it makes the whole experience extra fun and cozy. The ambience is fantastic and the food absolutely delivers. We started with the shrimp scampi, which was amazing, and for the main course the Cowgirl stole the show--a filet mignon wrapped in bacon... you truly can't go wrong. A memorable dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!

I have eaten here dozens of times over the years. My husband and I even had our first official date here over 35 years ago. I would describe this as a higher end steak house with unique atmosphere that includes vignettes of miners, taxidermy animals, and old west scenery throughout the restaurant. I would not typically eat here unless it was for a special occasion due to the spendy pricing on the menu items. In the past, I've tried their steak and seafood options and haven't been disappointed. They serve complimentary cowboy bread and butter at the start of the meal. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We were some of the first customers of the day on a Saturday so we got acknowledged quickly. I was with family from out of town, and I wasn't overly hungry so I just ordered a salad with a side of soup. My family ordered a variety of appetizers along with steak and ribs. The waitress checked back on us regularly and kept our drinks full. My order included the wedge salad with blue cheese dressing and a side of butternut squash soup. The wedge salad was fresh and the dressing was very flavorful. I like a good Roquefort style blue cheese and the dressing reminded me of that. The disappointment was the butternut squash soup. It tasted very watery with little to no seasoning and no real flavor of any kind. I didn't end up finishing it due to the taste. They offered several soup options like vegetable beef or French onion, and I wish I'd chosen differently. The value for the premium price just didn't seem to be there. The least expensive steak on the menu (not including the chopped steak) was $27.99. I don't think I will be coming back anytime soon.

The food was delicious. The atmosphere was amazing. The service left much to be desired. 3 stars due to the lack of service.

Really wonderful date night here! The steaks were cooked really well, and the atmosphere inside was unforgettable. We loved the theming! Definitely on the pricier side but you are paying for the experience as well! My boyfriend ordered a steak and they brought out the wrong one. We let them know and they said they ran out so they made this one instead. Unfortunately the steak he received was more expensive than the one he had ordered, but that's okay. I wouldn't have expected them to charge for the one he ordered, but nonetheless he thought it was delicious!

When I read the reviews, I went into my reservation thinking that the food would be just ok while the ambience would be super fun. I was wrong-the food was great too! At the Prairie Schooner, you get to eat your dinner inside a covered wagon-with the luxury of bench seats. So it's very comfortable, which I was worried about. No sitting on the floor here, just FYI. Our entire experience was fantastic-service was attentive and kind, the food was tasty and the ambience was unique. I loved feeling like I was eating out on the prairie-even the ceiling is made to look like stars in the sky. I'm a fan and am already looking forward to returning.

A+ for ambience. C for food. It was all edible. Chicken noodle soup was good. Clam chowder tasted like it was burnt but was yummy otherwise. The shrimp was good size fried and broiled was both good but not super seasoned. The fries there were several pieces that was burnt that you would imagine in a restaurant that you just throw out instead of plating. The chicken was juicy, but there was cartilage in fat that should've been trimmed. Brandon liked the fish and chips. I would say it was very home cook. You're not going for the food it's the atmosphere. The service was excellent Jennie was great.

My wife and I wanted a fun place to have dinner for our anniversary. We chose prarie schooner and we were not disappointed with the fun atmosphere and the welcoming staff. The staff were very accommodating and were attentive for whenever we needed anything throughout the meal. The food on the otherhand was a big let down. We got broccoli cheddar soup and the beef and vegetable soup and both were incredibly salty. Then we got salmon and top sirloin and both had very little flavor. The salmon has to be dunked in the tartar sauce to have any flavor. And I ended up sinking my steak in the leftover soup to give it more flavor. I will give credit to the chef that at least the doneness was correct. The salmon was very tender and the steak was cooked to how it was ordered. My recommendation would be to include some maldon as salt or fleur de sel on the side to bring out more flavor from the steaks or better yet a compound butter. The salmon just had zero seasoning so anything would have helped that. If someone wants to have a fun environment and great service I'd recommend Prarie Schooner as a one time visit. But if someone wants to come here for great tasting food I would not recommend eating here.

Everything was on point from the start. The staff were wonderful, welcoming, cheerful and very helpful. I could tell the staff were having fun but also working together as a tight knit group. It was quite impressive. I started with a local beer, the Cerveza Roja by Ogden Beer Co., which was very refreshing and touch darker than other Mexican beers, which I really liked. I also ordered The Burger, medium, with fries and let me tell you it was one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Again, everything was on point. The patty was probably one of the thickest patties I've recently seen in a burger, all the ingredients were fresh, the meat was quality, and perfectly cooked (my mouth just started watering as I write this), along with the fries. The brioche bun was soft and actually smaller than the burger and ingredients combined which is usually the opposite nowadays. Seriously perfect. I also ordered an Old Fashioned, again perfect, and The Hole In One (Bourbon drink), also very tasty. They also have a nice variety of mocktails as well. Next time I'd like to try something else but not sure I can pass up that burger. The staff all had different favorites so that should tell you there's a lot of other great choices to try. I can't stress enough how amazing the staff and my server were. I also found out who the owners were and could see they totally set the example for everyone working there. The whole crew ran around helping each other out and expediting like a well oiled machine but fast and nimble. I had to let the owners know on my way out as well. I know where I'll be eating on my next trip to Ogden. Cheers!

The flavor palette is just absolutely exquisite and will justify your coming here. ...and on that note. I had to wait what felt like an epoch for my delicious, chicken-y reward, and despite the size of the restaurant and relatively tame level of busy-ness, wait staff still took their sweet time and did not get bread out in a timely fashion. The ambiance is like 'millennial interior design final boss' - imagine being trapped within the pages of Magnolia Table, and everyone looks and sounds like the first Google results for 'hipster'. I wouldn't mention this if the smarminess of staff didn't compound the frustration of having to wait forever for like three pieces of bread. So, if you're in the area and have a refined palette that craves rich, delicious flavors against a backdrop of open French windows, I'd say go for it. The food definitely outcompetes the annoyance I felt. But seriously, get the chicken sandwich.

It is definitely a challenge to serve 80 patrons at once. The food and service quality has to be on its game. i think that Timbermine Steakhouse did a good job. We had a banquet room to ourselves, which most restaurants do not have. We were in round tables that seated 10. Included with our dinner was a nicely flavored fruit punch, salad with Ranch dressing, dinner roll, choice of ribeye steak or halibut or teriyaki chicken, big baked potato that was delicious, and a strawberry cheesecake. All were good. We were not asked for doneness for our steaks, they all came out medium well done, but that wasn't a problem since the steaks were still tender and not dried out. For point of reference, I usually have my steak medium rare. A good steak that was sizeable, a half an inch thick that covered half of the plate. I didn't even finish mine. I think that was a good deal for $27 a person, which included the tip for the servers. The service was spot on. There were enough staff assigned to our dinner and they were on top of things. Water and punch filled and refilled, plates cleared, meal served on time and efficiently, friendly and pleasant. Our room was spacious enough for our large group. There were none of the idiosyncrasies that makes Timbermine, Timbermine. Walking in and out of the restaurant, I did notice the mine cars, the bathtub lined with Pez dispensers, things on the wall, etc. that gives it it's quirky theme atmosphere. Our event started at 4:30p and when I left at 6:30 the parking lot, which is huge, was jammed full as well as the regular restaurant space. So this place is definitely popular on Saturday nights! Good job, Timbermine, I think you are a good choice for large groups. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

When we arrived, we were told there would be a 45-minute wait, which was understandable. Since there was a wait, we asked if we could sit at the bar instead. We could clearly see a few open seats together, but the hostess told us, "There's no room." I pointed out the empty seats, and she replied, "You can sit there, but you might not get service." I then asked if food service was available at the bar, and she said it was -- but that it would still take at least 45 minutes to get food. We sat down briefly, but the bar area was dirty, and honestly, the interaction left us feeling unwelcome. The tone and attitude from the hostess came across as if she really didn't want us eating there at all. So we decided to leave. That was the disappointing part -- because we actually enjoyed the food during our previous visit. Unfortunately, customer service can completely change the experience, and this time it did.

I knew it definitely…read moresounded familiar but I should have "Yelped" it prior to ordering, though it definitely wasn't as bad as the first time. Still needs major improvement though. I ordered the New York Steak which also includes two sides. I had to pay an additional fee to upgrade my steak to 12 oz (definitely would not have been an issue had the restaurant followed instructions! -sigh-). I explicitly requested my steak be WELL DONE with absolutely no pink meat whatsoever. And whaddya know? The 12 oz steak arrived, grilled to perfection on the outside, with nothing but pink, raw (and raw tasting) meat on the inside. Ugh. This steak had so much potential and could have easily been a five star review. It was juicy and tender, but raw. Then, I'm reading all these reviews on here stating people wanted a medium rare and how overcooked and dry their steaks were. Do the chef's all have dyslexia or something? Because what other's received is exactly how I wanted mine done (minus the dryness of course..wink, wink). Anyways, chopped it all up and re-fired on the stove with a little butter spray as pink meat makes me violently ill. It worked out in the end, but the steak definitely wasn't flavorful. However, it became edible, though I should not have to take the time because my bank account was hurting me after this purchase. A steakhouse chef cannot actually cook a WELL DONE steak or follow explicit "no pink meat" instructions? Something seriously is wrong there. Anyways, my two sides were sauteed mushrooms (just little button brown is what you receive with a small amount of unflavored sauce at the bottom). Once again, had to "doctor " those up to make them edible as well. At least those were in their own separate container with a secure lid for the drive home as I had requested that ALL sides be in their own separate containers to prevent cross contamination. My second side that I requested was the Parmesan tomato. Basically it's a full tomato cut into two halves with melted cheese and seasoning on top. The tomato was very ripe, juicy , and fresh tasting. The issue was, that when you took a bite all that cheese and seasoning fell off of it completely. Not only that, but the two tomato halves were in the same container as the steak. Yuck! And remember I requested it all be separate from each other. The tomatoes had the fat/grease steak taste and pretty much ruined the value and taste of them. There were absolutely zero condiments, utensils, or napkins given for the "to go" order which I found to be a bit cheap and bizarre considering the cost of the meal, 20% tip, etc. This restaurant DOES have potential with at least what I just recently tried. Sounds like the employees and management don't care too much though for customer service or reading comprehension. Could have been five stars. Guess they all just don't care too much over at this place.
