Now waiting patiently for 45 minutes for a wood fired pizza and Mediterranean salad. Wish me luck! Not worth the wait. Tastes like a frozen pizza that after baking they threw on some basil and chunks of cold tomatoes. UPDATE.: as we were paying the bill found out their last day is tomorrow. That explains a lot. Apparently what we got is what was left in the fridge. ‍

I want to want to like this place, but they've got a ways to go before they get there…read more We had a 5:30 reservation on a Friday evening. When we arrived our table had a reserved sign on it with our names. It wasn't a table I would have chose as I don't particularly care to sit in the middle of the floor and that table is right up against a large pillar. The two servers were nice, but there didn't seem to be a lot lot of "get up and go" between the two of them. They were slow to reset tables after people left and there were a few times i looked over and they were both standing around the bar area. All of the food took an extremely long time to come out of the kitchen. We waited nearly 20 minutes for our salads. When it came time to order dinner, I ordered the Baked Ziti with Meatballs only to be told they were out of meatballs. Not quite sure how that can happen. When did you realize you were running low and why didn't you make more? Another table ordered Calamari and they were told they were out of that as well. Our entrees also took close to 30 minutes to arrive. My wife ordered the pasta pomodoro that was supposed to be served with fettuccine, but it came out with pappardelle. We did enjoy our dinner, but there is room for a lot of improvement across the board.

The restaurants just do not do it. After calling several places closer to us, we eventually landed on Gerry's. It was difficult to find their menu online (much like the rest of Cape Charles). Gerry's is located right outside of the main drag of Cape Charles (I think) and the location is definitely easy to miss if you are driving at night. The building really sits on its own. Using the to-go window only (apparently they don't allow people inside right now) we picked up two sandwiches and a pizza. We were honestly just so thrilled to find a place in Cape Charles to get dinner that didn't require us to dine-in, especially after a super long car ride. I really enjoyed our shrimp pizza, which we ordered with white sauce. It comes with fresh mozzarella and garlic and is a really different type of pizza to order. We had it in the fridge for leftovers for days. It heated up surprisingly well. The gals working at Gerry's were nice and helpful and I think for the people that live here this is a solid local watering hole for pizza.

Despite living in Virginia Beach, we're already planning our next visit. It's a small place, but we felt it was just for us. Wow! This place was outstanding. There weren't many lunch options open on a Sunday in Crisfield,…read moreand we were the first customers into the Water's Edge during our impromptu visit. There was one single waitress, and while she was a doll, she clearly was not prepared for an 8-top to walk in as soon as they opened. We were promptly greeted and sat, and our drink orders were taken. She was brewing fresh sweet tea, which was worth the wait. Additionally, one of my family members requested unsweet ice tea, and the owner actually went out to the store and bought more tea to make it for her. We sampled the crab dip appetizer (GOOEY GOODNESS), and we were served free cornbread for the table. The cornbread was unreal - it was the most dense, decadent, flavorful cornbread I've ever hard, though noticeably underbaked (which I personally believe added to it's goodness!) Portions were huge, and the food was really tasty and rich. Things move a little slower here than most places, but if you're not in a rush, pull up a seat. Heed parking signs outside, as it's street parking.
