We had a fantastic dinner here on a busy Memorial Day weekend. The menu has a great selection of pizzas, salads, small plates, home made pasta and Chicken/Veal entrees. I opted for the "Pasta Boat" house pie (pizza) which was fantastic. It consisted of mushrooms, roasted red peppers, black olives, arugula, and balsamic.....OH MY! So good! They also have gluten free crust (cauliflower) if you like that dietary option. We sat at a high top table towards the back and watched their amazing kitchen staff work seamlessly together like an orchestra. We joked that it was like sitting at the chef's table which we loved. The restaurant was busy and vibrant but not too noisy inside. There is also outside patio seating. Be aware that if you are on the waitlist you have 10 minutes once you receive the text notification to return to the restaurant before your name is booted out of the system and taken off of the list. read more

Managed to get 2 seats at the bar. This place is super busy. A bartender at the Beach Bar recommended it, so instead of seafood we decided to try pizza. Loved the vibe. Nice bustling place. Love the decor and the story behind the name. The bartender was very attentive and bought us 2 ice cold beers right away. We ordered the Insalta Mista Salad. It was fresh and delicious. We also ordered the Pound Netter Pizza. Wow, great crust, delicious toppings, really fantastic! My husband wanted Cannolli, as we miss the ones we get all over the Northeast Italian places. They were great. I ordered the Zeppoles for the same reason. After eating them my whole life in NY, NJ and Italian Street festivals, I was psyched. Instead of being the traditional airy, fluffy, hand fried dough balls, typically the size of golf balls, they were smaller than a tater tot, hard and dry. The bartender was nice enough to take them off the bill, but... said I was confused with beignets. If you are Italian, you know the only differences are: The shape. Beignets are square and from New Orleans, Zeppoles are round, unrolled, hand fried dough served at Italian Festivals and Restaurants all over the Northeast . Beignets are sprinkled with powdered sugar, Zeppoles are shaken in a bag of powdered sugar. If you're not going to do them the right way, don't. They were a disappointment after a perfect meal. We tried Deadrise for the first time during our recent trip to Cape Charles. Normally I wouldn't go for pizza and Italian on a beach vacation but Cape Charles has limited options and we've eaten at just about every restaurant in Cape Charles. The menu is typical Italian. We ordered insalata misto (which was great) and meatballs for appetizers. Both were good. The meatballs were a bit dry but the flavor was good. The salad was really good! For entrees chicken piccata with a pesto pasta and veal parm. Both were good. We also got a pizza to go and added prosciutto and it was one piece off prosciutto divided among the slices. I wouldn't do that again. No value for the price. This was a good place to eat. I might just get a takeout pizza next time so we can much on it at the beach or at our hotel. read more

First of all, we love Dylan! She was an amazing server! Very interactive and on top of everything. The food was crazy amazing! I had lump crab and herbs pasta. The pasta was homemade, and perfectly cooked, Seasoning en pointe, and sauce was bright, lemony, and buttery. This was one of my favorite pasta dishes I've ever had! My hubby had the push boat pizza which looked amazing, and he said it was delicious! I told my hubby, I would drive the 5 hours it takes us to get to Cape Charles, just to eat here again! Cute place in the historic section of Cape Charles. This is one of those little towns that make me love the Eastern Shore. We were camping nearby and we're in the mood for pizza, and a friend who lives up here recommended the DeadRise. As it is the off-season, we were seated right away. I'm sure the place is packed in the summer. We started with drinks and I had the mochatini totally yummy, but not really worth the $14. Based on prior reviews, we started with the breadsticks. They were really tasty, especially the seasoning. When asked if they had a small side salad, we were told they do not, but there salads are large enough for 2 people. We decided to split a Caesar. It was definitely good, we'll dressed, but certainly not big enough for 2 adults. Where they really shined was the pizza. They make their dough in house and it shows. I'm guessing the sauce is homemade as well. It was perfect - not too acidic, not too sweet. We ordered extra cheese and half Italian sausage. Toppings were all generous and it was cooked well. The star of the show though is that crust, thin, crunchy and it has a great taste. Fast, friendly and attentive service means we will be making more stops here in the future. read more

We heard high praise about their new menu and expanded service so we chose this as our lunch before heading back to the beach after a morning hiking around Bay Creek. We were starving and easily found a seat outside on the covered patio. Our waitress was friendly and prompt and we ordered the meatballs to start, the burrata salad, and the arvor pizza with prosciutto, pineapple, onion and sun-dried tomato. Meatballs were our first, delicious and moist. You get three with a piece of toasted focaccia which was phenomenal. Good thing we liked it bc my salad came with about 5 large pieces covered in greens, olive oil tomato and the burrata in the center. This was the star for me, the salad was wonderful and light and fresh and the bread was tops. Pizza was also delicious so we devoured almost everything and enjoyed the meal. We saw tons of sandwiches go by that also looked wonderful. An easy visit and a win for sure. I'm adding it to the must-stop list whenever I'm in town. read more

We've only ever done carry out. It's such a good pizza place which can't always keep up with the demand - their website will stop taking pizza orders if their pizza orders are overrun, but it will still take another 20 minutes after the website said your order might be ready for it to be ready. But it's absolutely delicious, and so nice to pick up and eat on the beach. Hubby likes the Pound Netter. The restaurant is clean and well kept. The service was a little lacking. It took more than 20-25 minutes after our appetizer for our pizza to come out. We arrived very hungry just after 5 pm on a Monday to a nearly empty restaurant. We were immediately greeted and seated. Mariah, our server was friendly and attentive. We split the Caesar salad; the lettuce was crisp and the dressing tasty. Hubby had the homemade Tagliatelle pasta with veal Bolognese which was delicious with large chunks of veal (as opposed to ground meat) and I had the 10" margarita pizza. The very thin crust had a nice garlicky crisp to it. Weren't sure we'd have room for dessert but the cannoli called our names! The filling was just right smooth and sweet and the shells nice and crispy. A nice 70s playlist heavy on Steely Dan was playing. It was a bit too loud and we asked if they could turn the music down which was done immediately but the volume seemed to increase again by the time we left. My only other complaint was that the iced tea was served in plastic cups with plastic straws, something I wish restaurants would stop doing. We weren't going to make it that long. We knew we would turn into the older guy ahead of us who pitched a hungry infantile fit of frustration with the hostess, if we waited that long to eat. We recognize our limitations. DeadRise was busy yet they seated us almost immediately. Service was good. Cocktails were good. Lavenders Bees Knees was refreshing and tasty. A perfect summer lemonade type cocktail. The Dr Rum Punch was a bit too artificial coconut taste for me but my husband enjoyed it. We got a margherita pizza. Wow! Thinner crispy yet perfectly chewy crust. The toppings were delicious. 100% recommend this pizza and I'm not a pizza lover by any means. I'm already craving this pizza the next day! We also ordered chicken Parmesan which was slightly under seasoned. But very decent. Rather expensive meal for 2 cocktails, a beer, a pizza and an entree. $75 plus tip. Ordered a take out pizza around 7 on a Thursday night, wait time was about 25 minutes. You can hang out at the bar, wait outside or walk around while waiting. We decided to walk down the street since the heat had died down a little. They take your number and say they're going to text you when your food is ready, we never received a text but when we walked back our pizza was ready. Solid pizza spot out near the water. The atmosphere is good and there are really affordable drinks. The pizza was pretty good, and I would love to be able to stop in and sample a few more. There was a good selection of pizzas for every taste, from classic and cheese to more adventurous offerings. THe rest of the menu was smaller, but still some solid options. The fried mozzarella was good, but something about the marinara sauce it was served with was just not our cup of tea. Overall I'd love to go back and sample some more! read more
