Ocean Deli Pizza at Wallops Island is a phenomenal local business to stop at if you're hungry and want a quality pizza, sub, or sandwich. Their subs are huge and very well priced for how much food you get (much cheaper than chains like Jersey Mike's or Zero's) and their signature chicken sandwich, The Clucker, comes with delicious homemade honey mustard sauce. The service is outstanding - in my visits there over the years the staff always has a smile, even when dealing with the lunch rush, which gets the place crowded between 11-12 each morning. With that said, you'll still be able to find seating inside due to the numerous booths and tables. The deli also has a sizable collection of craft beers and wines for sale. read more

We live on Chincoteague Island and stop at Ocean Deli frequently. Usually it's just a take-away of spinach pie (Spanakopita), but today we sat for lunch since it wasn't busy at 2pm. We ordered bake ziti, fried flounder with corn bread and greens, and the before mentioned spinach pie to go. The food was all terrific, the workers very friendly, and cost reasonable. Surprisingly decent. The store that it's in is an awesome one stop shop too! I had a build your own salad 2/3 nights I was in Chincoteague. Tasted good and fresh. Curly and regular fries were good too! Only thing that was strange was the raspberry vinaigrette I got on the side the first time. Tasted like the raspberry syrup I eat with my pancakes. Stopped in at Ocean on the way home from work to grab the Jerk Chicken salad. Was please with the flavor combos here-the salmon, while seasoned well, did not have an overly powerful jerk flavor but was complimented perfectly by the salty olives and acidic roasted peppers. Didn't even need any dressing. The salmon itself was cooked perfectly too, not dry at all. The staff had a friendly southern charm and they appeared to have some other treats to go along with their large menu...a large tray of baklava! I didn't try any but coming from a Greek who has made it many times before, it looked solid. I'll be back before the end of the week to try some more of their items! read more

Kind of a Greek, Italian place. The menus crosses a number of differs things. Something for everyone.

Ordered 2 pizzas, 1 was 6 toppings (the bomb), the other, xtra cheese(double bomb) for delivery and was not disappointed. Excellent pizza and delivery was right on time and pizzas were still hot! This place can be slightly overwhelming when you first walk in and look at the menu because it contains a lot of different types of food. However, you can't go wrong with anything you order. I normally get the small meat lovers quesadilla, some onion rings and a small drink. Runs about $16. There is so much meat in the quesadilla, that you'd probably get full after eating just half of it. The customer service is pretty good and everyone is very nice. I love this place!!!! read more

The ocean Deli is one of those places you might drive by and never have a clue about the incredible food they have to offer. The Deli is not fancy but it is clean and well run. The food is consistent and every thing is made to order. The Ocean Deli Special is one of the best pizzas I have ever had in the entire VA , MD and DC area. Portions are generous and pricing is reasonable. The Deli is always busy and the wait is normal for a cook to order restaurant. You can call ahead and save some time. Eat in seating is available. I have order from them for 10 years..I always done pick up and they messed up my orders quite a few times.. but I figured no one is perfect. but I developed disabilities that no longer was I able to drive to pick up food... but they said deliver for 30 dollar orders.. even pocomoke does for 20 dollars and being in trails end I, i am closer to ocean deli..but thing is if you want delivery you have to order online. well tried this 3 times and it would never go through, even manager assistants. and I always give 25 to30% percent tip... so why they so lazy and greedy that won't take the order over the phone.. they are getting delivery fee and 25 to 30 percent tip. and as many times they messed up orders or given bad lettuce.. you would think after 10 years of being customers , they wouldn't be so rude.. but today I was told when explained it they don't need by business or anyone's who's order won't go through.. read more

--- Short Synopsis --- Good value for the area and there are some tasty (and large) items on the menu with large variety for a deli; however, nothing too spectacular or too horrible about the food. --- Summary --- I was debating between 3 stars or 4 stars and decided to give them 4 stars because of the good value you get for the area and large variety of food on their menu. During my week long trip to here during June, I went to this location about seven times, as it is one of the few places that is reasonably close enough to drive to and back from the work site. This allowed me to try many different types of foods they offered. Also, just watching them cook in the kitchen and it is amazing how many delivery/takeout orders they get. This shows the popularity of this restaurant in the area and I believe there is good reason for this. The value of this store is one of the better spots in the area if you want larger portions of good food for less money. The interior of the deli is half store, half restaurant. You order at the front counter and they hand you a ticket slip with your number. Then you pay at the register (lunch) or pay after your meal (dinner). For a "deli", they have quite a bit more than your typical deli selections, such as Greek food, pasta, and seafood. This adds a bit of variety and selection if you come in multiple times or have a group that wants different things. Again, none of the food was crazy amazing or absolutely disgusting, just okay and somewhere in the middle. Here is a listing of the items I have tried so far and ranked by Tiers:: Tier 1 (The Good) --- Ocean Deli Stromboli (Favorite item so far. Tasty and stuffed with fillings large enough for two people or one hungry person) --- Gyros Pita (Large, tasty, and comes with side greek salad.) --- Shrimp and Scallop Diablo (A tad bit greasy, but tasty and spicy! Also, a large portion that comes with salad and garlic bread) --- Pizza (Pepperoni and Sausage. Tasty, but greasy. Eat it when fresh and hot for a better time.) Tier 2 (The Okay) --- Philly Cheesesteak (Nothing too bad or too spectacular) Tier 3 (The Meh) --- Seafood Platter (The flounder and crab cake are good. First and foremost, I have gotten food from here in the past and it has been hit or miss. Basic fare, reasonably priced and okay if you just need something to fill your stomach. My issue with this place, and the reason I am giving them only two stars, has to do with customer service in regards to several different situations that happened with some of my friends. I don't normally rip on a business for something that happened to someone else, but I feel that a business that is incapable of accepting criticism, warranted or not, should be called out. The restaurant industry is not an easy endeavor and it is very difficult to hit a home run every time with every customer. What is easy is how you react or treat every customer. Deleting comments and reviews on various platforms is unacceptable. Throwing shade and arguing with the person(s) who have been critical is unacceptable. Take the criticism, even if you feel it isn't justified, and do better by addressing the issues and upping the quality control of the product and the service. I have left some scathing reviews for some other establishments and have gone back to those places and found improvements that warranted a re-evaluation and a change in my review. Let's hope that in the future I can re-evaluate this one and maybe add some positives. read more

If 3 stars is average, this is definitely a 1 star. We stopped here on our way to the beach, with the help of good reviews here. Their website is excellent. Besides being overcharged $5 for two sandwiches (I did get a refund when I pointed it out), my daughter's Italian sub did not have the typical Italian meats on it. It did have some unidentifiable sliced meat that looks like bologna with pepper in it. Overall it was not good and she threw over half of it away. I had the chicken salad club, it was the tiniest club sandwich I have ever had. Tiny. If you are headed to Chincoteague, check out Famous Pizza, SO much better. read more

I've lived in Greenbackville since last summer and I discovered Ocean Deli on a whim. It has pretty great food, from the salads to the wings and fries and they are always hefty quantities that will get you full. Pricing is decent for the amount and quality. The people who work by the grill and register are a younger crowd but always pleasant and friendly. I appreciate good food like Ocean Deli's. It reminds me of the Deli's in NY. Will come back here over and over for all of their different options. read more

My husband, son and I stopped by here as our last stop out of the Island and whew! Food was soooo amazing. Best omelette in a while, made by real vegetables and the right amount of cheese. We stop here for a meal every trip to Wallops/Chincoteague. Since 2005. Got 2 calzones and an order of onion rings this time. The red dipping sauce was quite runny and very peppered this time so we skipped it. The calzones were very good because the dough is amazing and cheese is yummy.
