Went to the bistro for the first time. Nice relaxed upscale Italian food with a very relaxed atmosphere. The servers are well trained and work together as a well oil team the atmosphere is of an old establishment with tin roof and exposed brick for Homie and very comforting. Melissa was our server and you could not ask for more. Personality with knowledge and obvious love for what she does. The food was absolutely incredible. Had lasagna which was meaty and cheesy with not being too much of either also had the pesto chicken, which was nice and white and very flavorful. The salads that come with the meal are absolutely incredible as they are mostly for sale lettuce. Both the blue cheese dressing and the ranch dressing are in-house made. I am on the fence about this place. The restaurant itself is lovely. The hostess and wait staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is good. It's not fantastic. I will not crave it, but it's not bad. If we were in the area and needed to eat, I would definitely stop there again. The notable exception is the Arancini. They would be better with a little meat in the center. We've enjoyed them twice now and they're delicious. What is bad, and why I gave it three stars is the bar. When I go for a nice night out, I want a delicious cocktail. It makes their night feel special. Their bartender is terrible. My drink tasted like they'd used a mix and added vodka. It did not taste fresh or specially made. It tasted packaged. Worse than that, it originally arrived wrong. I ordered the pomegranate martini without the sugar rim. In my opinion, the sugar rim would have made it too sweet. Skipping that step makes the bartender's job easier, right?! I got a sugar rim. When the server arrived and put it down, she immediately noticed and brought it back for the bartender to fix. This is not the first time I've had a bad drink there. The last time we went I got an Italian Margarita. Horrible! I have never had a drink that was actually undrinkable. Now I have. Amaretto has no business in a margarita. A margarita is supposed to be fresh and bright. The Amaretto overpowers everything. One sip and I sent it back. It was replaced with a lemon drop. We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had some cocktails to start the celebration and they were perfect. Next was the warm goat cheese with pita, what a treat! The meal came with salads that were good. Our main courses were next. My wife had the wild mushroom ravioli which was absolutely perfect. I had the pork shank which was perfectly done and great flavor. For our dessert we buckled for the key lime pie with mango habanero topping. It was pretty tasty! Our server Alicia was both attentive and caring. We believe the young man that cleared our table was Ocean? He was great too. Decided to eat here with my family of 6 on a whim - what a great experience :-) I called in about 10 minutes before our party showed up and staff was so nice and accommodating. We got our drinks and order taken fairly quick. I think they had an issue with the printer/ something in kitchen that night lol so the food took an extra minute to get to the table but it was worth the wait! All the food was so great and fresh. Got in before the dinner rush on a Saturday night! So happy we did! Our server, Scottie, was so personable and attentive! When he told us what the special was, he told us honestly how good the shrimp was so I decided to give it a try! He said the jumbo shrimp tasted like lobster and he did not exaggerate! Best shrimp I ever had anywhere! Not to mention the plate also came with a perfectly seared salmon steak, rainbow carrots, green beans with mini pearl onions and blue cheese mashed potatoes! This was our first time at the Bistro, and it will not be our last. The service was excellent by Melissa and the other staff were great as well as the ambiance. I have dined at the Bistro many times over many years, and I thought it time I added my review. The Bistro is what an excellent local restaurant should be - inviting, comfortable, serving carefully prepared food, at reasonable prices. Without exception, guests are graciously welcomed and served by staff in a professional manner with knowledge about the menu. The kitchen sends out every dish well designed, excellently prepared, and with a touch of presentation making the dining experience a cut above the typical local hangout. Simply put, the dishes are a delight. One of my favorites entrees is the wild mushroom ravioli preceded by either the fired calamari, always done in fresh oil or the goat cheese fondue, a taste thriller. The bar is well stocked and drinks are well poured. I am thankful the Bistro exists in my town. read more

What a huge disappointment for the second time. This was our go to restaurant in Tarpon Springs for a long time and it has gone downhill dramatically. Happened a couple of months ago and just again tonight. Made reservations for 8 at 6:00 PM and were seated right away and the restaurant was only partially full (maybe 1/4th) Took 2 attempts to get a server and finally saw someone by 6:30 or so. Ordered drinks and bread (you have to pay for bread!). Got our drinks but had to ask again for the bread. Got my meal of snapper and it was so not good and blah tasting that I couldn't eat it. Gave it back to the server and she said the manager would only give me half off because I had eaten a little of it. Not sure how I would know it wasn't good if I hadn't tasted it, but because I was with family I didn't complain until I got the bill and they only gave $10. off a $40. entree...Not exactly half and it should have been no charge at all. Pointed out to the server and was told they must have made a mistake so went back I assume to the manager who then gave another $10. off. In talkeing afterward, no one in our party could say the meals were memorable. The management certainly need to reverse this down hill trend, but at this point there is no way I would recommend them again as I have in the past. Amazingly disappointed read more

First time here but won't be our last! Love the decor! Service was great & so was the food! We started out with the Greek cigars & the fig meatballs as appetizers. Very good! Dinners come with a nice house salad or for a slight up charge a Caesar salad or soup. The wedding soup was very good. For dinners, we chose the Chicken with lemon caper sauce, the Osso Buco, and the house special Pasta Brado which is a dish you can chose how spicy you would like it. Patio dining available (for tables of 4 or less) Came to the Tuscan Sun Bistro ("The Bistro") with a group of 6 on a recent Saturday night. We had inquired about eating outside but learned that the outdoor tables could only accommodate 4. The inside dining area is quite large so we were able to get a table with no waiting. We had arrived during happy hour (ends at 6pm) which is great because we were able to get some $16 bottles of wine and discounted appetizers. Our group had good things to say about the mussels and the cheese board. We had a vegetarian, a vegan and someone gluten-free in our group. Vegetarian was easy at this Italian/pasta-forward spot. Gluten-free was easy as well as GF pizza crust is available. Our vegan had to ask a few questions but settled on a pasta with red sauce. The ambiance here is fairly average, but it is quite noisy! Service was good as well, nothing over the top but perfectly fine. We will come back and try more items off this large menu. read more

Getting familiar with Tarpon Springs I found the Bistro online and decided to give it a try. I was really looking forward to the Carmella pasta from the description and reviews. Maybe my preconceived perception is to blame but I thought the Bistro was going to be on the higher end of quality and taste and not a run of the mill restaurant. Upon sitting, getting a feel for the ambience, being handed paper napkins and a hodgepodge menu the screams confused about a niche (is it pizza, Italian, Mediterranean) I had a feeling it was a place that the menu descriptors sound amazing but the food does not match. Yet I held out hope. I ordered my happy hour $4 house wine and enjoyed the calm night out looking forward to a plate loaded with guilt and calories. First came the salad. A spring mix with a couple of cucumbers and a cup of garbonzo beans on top. Not a fan. Lacked all flavor Didn't eat it. My server was kind enough to say "you didn't like it" I replied not really but that's ok. Soon the pasta came and immediately it was a Gordon Ramsey nightmare with sprinkled parsley all around the plate. This is an absolute no no and screams Applebees. Now here is where the biggest problem is. The flavor was a huge miss! The description is cheese filled purses of pasta with a Gorgonzola cream sauce and caramelized pears. That sounds delicious, right? Well it could be if it was done right. I had something similar at an Italian restaurant in Tampa that was amazing. What I received was yes pasta filled with some type of cheese, an overpowering sauce and chunks of brown pears strewn about that had zero flavor. My suggestion would be nix the parsley, make the filling a mixture of Gorgonzola , cream sauce and a flavorful candied pear compote giving it a tart and sweet combo, and more cream and butter to the sauce so it's not too pungent tasting. Currently this is a miss with both presentation and flavor and the pear component missing the boat entirely. All of that for $23! Kind of high for pasta. I did not finish my dinner but I also didn't say anything else about it which I wished I had. It was an overall expensive dinner for not eating it. My dinner companion ordered the pizza. The flavor was actually good. But the crust was like cardboard. I do wish the restaurant success but I think it will take a lot of improvement to receive more than 3 stars I will continue to look for a great spot in tarpon springs. I can not believe I haven't reviewed this quaint Tarpon Springs restaurant yet. It is by far the only one I go to when it's someone's birthday, a date night, I want a glass of wine, or just want some Yummy appetizers while sitting at the bar listening to an acoustic jam set. I love the Greek nachos but also enjoy venturing out on their menu. Their meatballs are super yummy and all of their appetizers are nicely shareable. They have Great happy hour specials that I feel like I never take advantage of properly yet need to. A friend and I went to eat here last week, sat outside and because we didn't want to have leftovers bc we weren't going straight home afterwards, we ordered one appetizer and one dish to split between the two of us. We ordered the risotto balls and a chicken Alfredo entrée. The chicken Alfredo entrée was good, the risotto balls were extremely soggy and very bland. Absolutely no taste. The service was good, our server explained the specials and also told us the price which people never do these days so that was nice. When she came out, she asked how everything was, gave us the check and explained that there was a split plate charge. I told her that would've been nice to know in advance, and she apologized and everything seemed fine. The next thing we know, the very mouthy, very rude and brash owner came out to our table. She explained the split plate fee, and we explained why we split a plate but said it was fine, we just wanted to know in advance. Maybe we would've ordered all appetizers instead of one appetizer and an entrée. She then said that she would appreciate us not being rude or yelling at her server because we scared her and she's new. My friend and I looked at each other like, "What?!" I told her we were not rude and certainly didn't yell at her because there was no reason to be or do either. We were both very shocked at the owners accusation. She was being quite confrontational with us until I stood up out of my chair and then she became much nicer. She changed her tune and said that she was going to take the split plate fee out of the servers salary. My friend and I both told her not to do that. It was the weirdest thing ever! The owner explained to us that her and her husband work very hard as business owners of both The Bistro and The Tavern next door. I told her I'm sure they do, but we were ready to leave. Attempted two nights in a row to dine at The Bistro.... We have heard good things about the food & service. Two events out of the establishments control a power outage Thursday night and a Down Credit Card terminal Friday night caused us to cancel our plans. They are on our list of dining options in Tarpon to review at a future date. I would recommend a backup payment option such as Venmo or Zelle. We started with the eacargot and bruschetta - great flavor and the pairing was wonderful. We went on a date night last night. Decided to stop in here for a nice dinner. We sat at the bar as they were busy and hosting a large party. Our cocktails were good, and the food was beautifully presented. That is the end of our positive experience. I ordered the calzone, when I cut it open the mozzarella cheese wasn't even melted and the middle was cold. My husband ordered the fettuccine with garlic white sauce. It had almost no flavor whatsoever. We didn't taste any garlic. We tried to get the attention of one of the 3 servers that were working the bar for several minutes- they walked past us 5 times - each time we tried to get them to stop but they just blew past us. I ended up eating my cold meal become I was famished by that point. My husband finally got the attention of one of the servers and asked for salt - and they just slammed it on the bar and walked away. Not once did anyone stop to ask how our meal was, once we had our food - we were entirely ignored until we finally got someone to give us our bill. I overheard the party sitting next to us (whom had been there for a while) work to get the attention of someone as well and when they did said "I think someone forgot our drinks we ordered when we sat down" and she hustled over to the other bar to grab 3 glasses of wine that had been sitting there for roughly 15 minutes. Overall this meal was extremely disappointing- from food to service. We have been understanding of the fact that there are staffing issues but this seemed more of a quality issue all the way around. My husband and I dined at The Bistro located at 17 N. Stafford Ave., Tarpon Springs. Our server was friendly and professional, we ordered the Greek Cigars appetizer which is a gross, disgusting name for a delicious appetizer. It's spanakopita and a more appetizing name would be cheese spinach rolls. My husband ordered the pork shank which was drowned in a sauce and he said it was underwhelming in flavor. I ordered the oven roasted fresh gulf snapper in a lemon butter sauce w/capers, grape tomatoes and olives, sides were carrots, rice & asparagus. I took one bite of the snapper and almost wanted to vomit. I could smell the stench of a musty ammonia smell of the fish and saying is was disgusting is an understatement! My husband tasted a tiny bite and he immediately said take it back. I told our server and she took it back and kindly insisted that I order something else. I hesitantly ordered the Pollo Pesto Pasta and it was an enormous bowl of cheap pasta drowned in what tasted like parsley with extremely heavy vegetable tasting oily sauce, the "fake pesto sauce" had absolutely no basil, pine nuts or olive oil in it whatsoever. Obviously the cook was unhappy that I returned the so called "fresh gulf snapper." Actually I was insulted that you would charge a whopping $36.00 and serve me a piece of fish that smells like a cat's used litter box! The menu advertises that a "chef" is making your meal and no authentic chef would allow these disgusting meals out of their kitchen. It's completely unacceptable and deceiving to the customers. My take on this restaurant is the restaurant owners are trying to be creative and impressionable with their menu and high price point. In reality the customer is getting minimum wage cooks in the kitchen (no chef), serving poor quality food (ammonia smelling gulf snapper), drowned & drenched in a cheap sauce (lemon butter) to disguise what is underneath it and charging outrageous prices for it ($36.00). The restaurant owner needs to learn the definition of "fresh" before advertising fresh gulf snapper on his menu. Also, learn about using "fresh" herbs, garlic, seafood, meats, vegetables, etc.. and don't try to "fool" your customers! Good to know we will not dine at the Bistro! read more

This place was delicious! I ordered the Polo Pesto, my husband had the Chicken Parm and our kids split the spaghetti. Everything was really good! The kitchen was backed up a little and wait was a little longer but our waitress brought us some bread to hold my daughter over. The service was great and we didn't mind waiting a little longer because the food was really good and had great ambiance. We were traveling from out of town and stayed in Palm Harbor. We were looking for a local restaurant to try out and this place didn't disappoint. We will plan to visit again when we travel back to the area. read more

We went to another restaurant down the road initially with a southern flare and ended up leaving because it just want up our speed. We checked yelp and nearby was this restaurant. Looked fairly new on here but we gave it a chance. We love Italian food and this seemed like a small up and coming place. The appetizer we got was arancini balls (not sure if I spelled right, sorry). Delicious and glorious honestly a must have. Any pasta you order is made fresh and sauce game is superb. We went in a weekend so pretty packed but worth the wait time.
