After months and months of driving by I finally went in to try this cute little place. As you can imagine, they have tons of hot & cold coffee options. So many, it's almost overwhelming. They roast their beans onsite (you can watch the process through the glass window). The prices are on par if not slightly better than the other large coffee chains. My only "complaint" (which isn't really a complaint) is that as a first timer I wasn't familiar with their various flavors and milk options. It would be nice to have a full menu near the door so people can review the list and be ready to order at the counter. I felt a little like a deer in headlights when I was ordering and didn't know EXACTLY what I wanted. Not a bad problem to have - just a suggestion. I've been grabbing coffee for decades now, and I gotta say my last stop at Black Dog Coffee wasn't a good one. The tomboy with the beanie working there barley looked at me, like she didn't want to be bothered. Not friendly at all. Acted like serving me was a chore. Maybe I'm from a different generation but a "hello" ain't too much to ask for. They used to always welcome people. Definitely won't be coming back for a while. read more

Excellent coffees, teas and local vendor items. Very friendly staff who serves people very quickly to ensure there's not a long wait. The coffee shop is cozy and comfortable with a few tables inside and out. There's free WI-FI so you can connect to the internet on your phone, tablet or laptop while enjoying your beverage or treats. The large private parking lot provides plenty of room for your vehicle. I believe their coffee is available at Roc's and at Taylor's Farm market too. read more

Stopped in just before closing to enjoy a cup of some very fine coffee. Took a bag of beans and some chocolate with us. Black Dog is apparently served at many local restaurants and shops. Definitely can taste why that is so. Too far from here to visit but an online order may be in our future. read more

I finally made it to the source of my favorite coffee beans. This is where they roast them! And, of course, you can get coffee and espresso drinks here. And the baristas know how to make their beans deliver! As a sign here says...coffee beans are so fresh...you'll want to slap them. Inside is nice and inviting. read more

Service is phenomenal every time I visit and the coffee is always great too! Plenty of parking available and ample seating inside with a few chairs outside too. Not a shabby cup of coffee. I tried the dark roast, no issues with the service. I had the tail end of the carafe so the coffee wasn't super hot. No offer to brew any fresh, I would have waited... It does the job but not mind blowing by any means. Only made it there one time while visiting the area, maybe it was a fluke but it wasn't good enough for me to seek them out again. They have a lovely gift shop, outdoor seating and they roast their own beans which is an added bonus. Not my taste. Coffee was just ok. A little over roasted for my palate but that may be me. No one else I took really liked their coffee either. Place was unique inside but overpricing in the area for natural foods means my visitors waited until going out of town to make purchases of same meats and produce at a third less money. Location is too far from everything else so I normally end up at their competitors instead. read more

This was a cool place to find on our way back from a trip in West Virginia. One of the biggest pulls to this place seems to be the long bike path nearby. They even had bikes it looks like you can rent. The coffee was good. We were hoping they'd have some kind of breakfast sandwiches or pastries but they didn't. Great coffee shop where they roast your coffee beans on site. Brian the Owner & Roaster is behind the counter and serving things up. The beans on the shelf are within days of having been roasted. I have visited here a few times since they opened a couple months ago, just have not had a chance to write a review. They have brewed coffee (their own beans), they pull espresso and have several syrups to make you the custom drink you crave. :) The store has an area of WV locally produced items. They have a bookshelf of local authors books. A lunch cooler with locally made sandwich's and oriental rolls. Shelves of locally made treats and sweets. read more

Cozy little spot and certainly one of the best coffee shops in the area. Seems like they care about coffee and many locals enjoy the friendly nature of the staff. It also includes locally made crafts, jewelry, and soaps. They only have drip (I think they should introduce pour over and other brew methods concepts to the area).... I am very particular about my coffee. I roast and grind my own. If you get anywhere near this place and you like good coffee you should stop. Just beaide route nine going up towards Martansberg. The very best cappuccino you can find any place. It is set off of Route nine all by itself, and the first thing you'll notice is there is a steady stream of people going in and outAt all times of the day. If I get anywhere close I stop there for a cappuccino. Iced or hot it is just really wonderful. You will notice right away that they do their own roasting there. read more
