We enjoyed an amazing late lunch at the Black Dog Arts Cafe in Snoqualmie, WA. They're pretty well known for their amazing food (completely vegetarian, mostly vegan options) and cozy, artsy retro type atmosphere. We haven't had the occasion to visit in maybe a year or two so .. we were definitely overdue! We appreciated the friendly, charming nature of our server and the wide assortment of options to choose from! I'm going to start with the cookies because ...O...M...Goodness, we bought one Ube cookie and one Cardamom. We haven't tasted the Ube yet (we're pacing ourselves lol) but the Cardamom was delicious and soooo soft, even though we didn't try it until a couple of hours later! My wife ordered the Deli Wrap, house deli slices, vegan cheeze, and beautiful micro greens while I ordered two items, a Mock Tuna sandwich made of chickpea salad and vegan mayo as well as their Mushroom Oat Groat soup. I only had a bite of Sandi's wrap but it was delicious and she seemed to love it. The soup I ordered had a really rich delicious mushroom depth about it, very tasty with lots of good veggie bits in there. The Mock Tuna was hearty, filling, very tasty .. and I appreciated that it came with chips and a piece of pineapple and apple. We had visited Mexico a couple of years ago. The vegan options we had while there, they were WAY more fresh and vibrant than what you typically regularly find here in the U.S.. Instead of using stock items like Impossible or Beyond (which I have nothing against, I love both products), the burgers are usually made from scratch using, beans, beets, whatever fresh ingredients you can imagine! The freshness of the ingredients really hits the palette in a big way! So, that was totally my experience at Black Dog today. Our lunch was fresh and vibrant and I left feeling full but not bloated or overwhelmed. Looked forward to getting back here for a solid veg-forward meal with flavor and flair. Menu is currently default vegan with options to add chicken eggs or dairy milk/cheese. All the desserts and baked goods are vegan and many are also gluten free. Tofu rueben was messy and delicious with a thick slab of seasoned tofu slathered with sauerkraut, sauce, and melty coconut-based cheese. Soup of the day was a beetroot with cashew cream and dill, savory and so delicious that my partner who hates beets loved it. We also tried the special (anticuochoa bowl) which is absolutely worth trying. A bed of quinoa and kale topped with faux chick'n, lime agave cabbage slaw, pepitas and a ton of additional tasty sauces and toppings that made the whole thing amazingly tasty on top of nutritious. read more

On a Monday, the downtown area of Snoqualmie is pretty dead, but leave it to this business to be open. The off day apparently is their most successful. It sounded kind of sad, but an all vegan restaurant is not exactly appealing to most. Vegan American food, as in, full of chemicals. The restaurant has shifted to a completely vegan model as I did note their few meat option from earlier menus were no longer present. I ordered the least chemically induced item in the form of the Pita with Hummus and fresh veggies. This was incredibly fresh and still very filling. Hummus all day, ev'ry day! The shop is charming and filled with antique furniture and knick knacks. Food took AWHILE to get to us and we were in a hurry. Definitely not my first choice and despite the wait, they came in pretty clutch for being one of the few businesses open for a much needed lunch break. read more

Honestly, my fiance was super reluctant to go in because he generally has lukewarm vegan/vegetarian experiences. I was excited about the place after a gift shop a couple doors down recommended it and figured it was worth a try regardless. There was one person basically in charge of all front-of-house service so we were lucky there were only a few other people in the restaurant. the space is 1/4 shop, 1/4 entertainment (not on a Friday at 11am though haha), and 1/2 restaurant. It's a really cute setup that feels very community-driven. The food was beyond great. As natural skeptics we figured it was worth trying something new regardless of how we liked it - I got a breakfast sandwich and my fiance got a pulled pork sandwich. We inhaled them both in 5 minutes flat - he said that if all food tasted like that he would consume it forever. It's safe to say they really impressed us both and gave us an introduction to how delicious vegan/vegetarian food could be! Coming from NYC where we have a seemingly infinite amount of food choices, we surprisingly have been let down time and time again by alternative eating restaurants. I felt like I walked into a cafe in Austin, TX in the mid nineties. It's super artsy, kitschy, and has a very cool vibe. Lots of space to chill out, do some reading or writing, have a drink or some vegan grub. I had a chai, and my son had an Italian soda, both were a hit. The service was great. I've lived in the Snoqualmie Valley some 22 years and somehow never managed to eat at the Black Dog. Usually due to the crowds at various live music events. But today, managed to grab lunch and now I am wondering why it took so long. Missus had the beetroot soup - a rich creamy soup with magnificent texture and hint of dill. The creaminess was due entirely to the well puréed beets, as it had just a hint of actual cream. The included bread was toasted perfectly and thick. Really a great soup! My BLTA had vegan bacon but guess what - it worked! Paired with fresh avocados and on toasted fresh bread, it was fresh and hearty. Drinks were two well executed lattes. Service was prompt, friendly and not at all slow. It won't be long before we return. read more

My friend and I stopped in here for a lunch after looking at the falls and we were not disappointed. We were so happy to find a vegan-friendly restaurant in Snoqualmie. We decided to split a soup, salad, and sandwich. The caesar salad was just what we wanted- it was fresh, cold, crunchy, and tasty. The BLT was also super yummy. The sandwich was served with chips and fruit. Our server was super friendly and attentive. The decor inside is so charming as well. Went here while my husband was in town for a race and wooooow I wish i lived closer. I came in for some coffee and an assortment of dairy free/vegan treats and not one thing was a disappointment. All delicious. The treats were a good amount of sweet but not overly so. A good balance between sweet and flavor. And the coffee was robust. I got an americano to pair with the treats and was so happy. The coffee didn't need any extra sugar already but the dry coffee with the sweet treats was the perfect balance. To add to it the shop is also filled with local stuff to buy and some very interesting ciders. A lot of flavors I hadn't seen before and if I'm back in the area will definitely pick up. 10/10. After a visit to North Bend, and Snoqualmie Falls, we found ourselves dining outside at The Black Dog Cafe. It's on Railroad Ave just across from the enormous 100 year old trees and a vintage train. This place is a local treasure-- if I lived in Snoqualmie, I'd frequent it regularly. In normal times (pre & post covid) it hosts local musicians in a living room type back room. Lots of cool things to buy upfront. I had The Bing Crosby-- a yummy sandwich of turkey, havarti, avocado and tomato on homemade bread. Served with Tim's Cascades and fruit. My wonderful companion said her quiche was, "Mighty tasty." We chose it randomly, but it was just the vibe we needed. read more

I had the Bang Bang and it was delicious!!! The blend of the cheese, mayonnaise (vegan?), vegetables, and deli was perfect! The chips that was included was also a perfect blend. The other thing about this was the bathroom. They are gender neutral and very clean. I love the country feel of the entire environment. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The other thing I loved about this place was that the meals were healthy! I'm always looking for healthier options in the menu and everything check that box. We came here just in time for someone playing live jazz music on the piano! The staff approached my party very promptly to have us seated and our orders taken. The cafe itself gives you an eclectic vibe, with tables of different shapes and sizes, all facing the stage where the performer was. One memorable event was the staff offering a drink to the musician, giving a sense of warmth and community. I ordered a hot chocolate but it arrived to our table a little bit cold but still delicious. The Black Dog is a perfect place to relax. Whether you want to just read a book, have fun with friends, listen to live music, or watch the train load and unload passengers right across the street, you'll be able to enjoy yourself here. I was really happy to see that The Black Dog has added so many more vegan menu items since the last time I was in town a few years ago. It's hard to find a restaurant in Snoqualmie (or neighboring North Bend) with more than one or two options, so this was a real treat. I had the special (chick-un salad wrap) and a cupcake. The family and I had the pleasure of eating here after a day of hiking at Snoqualmie! We try to eat plant-based as much as possible, so we were happy to find such a vegan-friendly restaurant nearby! Super yummy food and a fun atmosphere featuring the art and wares of many local artists! I had a veggie gyro, oldest child went with the vegan quiche, husband had the vegan breakfast burrito, and youngest child went with his standard fave, PB&J. We found this restaurant while wandering around Snoqualmie, it was a little hole in the wall cafe that we loved the quirks of it. It's very cozy and when we went in, they had just open so we were the only ones there for brunch. The decor is cute and you can tell that lots happen here at night with live performances and such. Unfortunately, we were there during the day but that's ok. I got the Edgar Allen Poe boy sandwich (sounds really cute to someone who loves poems, like me), which consisted of ham, house-roasted turkey, and thick-cut fisher's bacon with tomatoes and lettuce on their toasted homemade bread. I only got the half because I wasn't that hungry, but the half was rather filling since it came with chips and fruits on the side as well. My kids got the grilled cheese and split it, they loved the little watermelon slices on the side, more so than the chips, so that's saying a lot. My husband got the turkey BLT and a cup of soup of the day that was written on the wall. Both were delicious from the bite I got. I'm a huge fan of homemade baked bread, so that's what got me. We got refills after refills of Seattle coffee. I don't drink coffee but when in Rome, right? It was really smooth so I had to keep drinking. I feel like this place is artsy and very laid back, I love the vibe of it and any mom and pop shop, I'll support, because they're so much more unique than the chains anyway, but that's just me. read more
