Entering the shop, you will be greeted by loud music. Be ready for that. You will have the option to dine outside, if the weather provides it and the seats are empty. The hosts are wonderful and very accepting with a positive attitude. Smiles and all. I ordered the Jim because it was the only sandwich I could eat. The majority of the sandwiches contain meat, so I would not recommend this for vegans or pescatarians. Jim was delicious and I consumed both halves of Jim flawlessly. Either hunger overruled me, or the sandwich was that satisfying. I do recommend the shop, but with limited options for non-meat eaters, I truthfully would rate Lottie and Zulas, 4.5. Yet, I don't believe the spot was "good."

We also had the Vinny which was fine, a bit spicier than I thought it would be, but I'm a wimp. The service was fine, not overly friendly but adequate. The food is 4 stars, the service 3 starts, but the real bummer was all the plastic. Plastic container, plastic cups and we were eating in. They asked if it was to go and we said no, but everything came in plastic anyway. The ambiance is quintessential Portland, right up until they bring all your food in plastic with plastic silverware to boot.

After grabbing a cheesesteak from East Coast Eddie's, I can definitely say I love them! You get service with a smile and quick too. I ordered the original with provolone, came with fries. The sandwich itself was sizable, lots and lots of meat, peppers, onions and melty cheese. The meat was seasoned perfectly, and tender with crispy edges. Yummers!! The pile of fries was enormous! I normally don't like thick cut fries. These were great --- fully cooked through with a good crunch outside and good potato flavor throughout. They appeared to be hand cut. Right amount of salt, not greasy. In fact, I took half home and air fried them for lunch the next day. Very little oil on the surface and crisped up nicely. Judging by the other reviews, Eddie's is apparently the real deal and high quality for a cheesesteak. All I know is this food was really good and reasonably priced. I am going back whenever I get the craving!

I appreciated the right bun AND that it wasn't overwhelmed by too much cheese. Service was fabulous too, as he brought our lunch out to us and took the time to provide a bit of presentation.

I ordered a tuna sandwich with everything on it. They make their own bread so it's on large medium size baguette. When I came to pick it up, the guy who was there (on Sun, June 21 at 2:15pm) said that the sandwich was "wet" and he wanted to let me know that ahead of time. I said what do you mean "wet" and he said just wet. So I paid the $16.00 and took it home (5 minutes away) and the entire sandwich was wet, the bread was sopping, and the sandwich just fell open and the entire thing was like a bog! I tried to call but there was no answer and no voice mail available. Then I drove back over there, right away, and the cart window said, "Closed." I knocked on the window loudly with no answer. Then I opened the window and threw the sandwich back in the cart. I walked away to try and find a manager about how awful this experience was. But the buy selling beer said each cart was responsible for themselves. Then I went back again to the car and the guy suddenly was there. OMG, if he is the owner, what a terrible way to treat a customer. If he is not the owner, what he needs to find another job. He was nice but obviously knew he shouldn't have even given me that completely wet sandwich and should have made me another one. Also it smelled really strong and fishy. So unappetizing. I asked him for my money back. And he said I should get it back in a couple of days. He did ask me if he could get something else for me several times but why would I want to order again when it was such a bad experience? If I don't get my money back, I will then file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about this. I do NOT recommend this place at all. If there is another employee she or he may make a good sandwich but this guy was terrible.
