A really fun summer dinner with family. The menu is perfect for even the picky eaters. It was relaxing and delicious. Lovely rural atmosphere

Delicious burger fries and onion rings, washed down with a Pilsner. The burger was good, the fries ok, but the onion rings were divine. Service was prompt and efficient.

What a great burger joint! It is a little off the beaten path, but worth the trip! Inside is spacious, with lots of seating options. The service was great and we had an order in fast. The burger was good, and I mean good good! It was massive, cooked well, with a soft bun and fresh toppings. The onion rings were a surprise bonus. The batter was light and flaky and the onions were sweet and fried to perfection. I can't wait to get back to try another burger! Great food, great service!

The food wasn't terrible, but also wasn't great. It's your typical greasy cheeseburger and fry situation. The cheeseburger was good quality and tasty but not something I would crave or need to have regularly. The fries and onion rings were greasy yet crispy, but not very flavorful. Service was a zero out of five. I'm pretty sure the waitress forgot about us. A hat fell on my friend, she looked and then walked away. This restaurant seemed like a place that regulars go and enjoy. This is the type of restaurant you go to for reliability. You know what you will get and you're OK with it.

While visiting the Helvetia Farm Store for some Christmas goodies, we found ourselves craving fish and chips and discovered Helvetia Tavern just minutes away. From the moment we arrived, I loved the rustic, cabin-like vibe, it feels like a hidden tavern straight out of a movie. Inside, the baseball caps hanging from the ceiling, pool table, and country music set a fun, welcoming tone. The staff was friendly, and the food was phenomenal. I was especially impressed to learn that the ingredients are locally sourced, you can truly taste the freshness in every bite. Huge portions, incredible flavor, and great value. I'll definitely be back to try more of their classic American dishes and will be recommending this spot to everyone.

My partner found this place online and I was like "good luck with that" thinking we're never out that way. Cut to a few weeks later and we were driving for something else when I was like "isn't there a place way out here you wanted to try?" Less than 10 minutes away so we decided to stop for impromptu lunch. Had to get the giant cheeseburger (add bacon) and yes it was huge. Not to mention evenly proportioned and delicious. Also got the onion rings and she brought us out a huge container of their special sauce. We ate outside because it wasn't too bad of weather. I like that they also have restrooms outside because it was just easier that way. Server was really nice and prompt. I could not eat the whole thing there but it held up well enough for me to enjoy the rest later. We were both very happy and full people twice that day. Totally plan to stop in the future when I'm out that way.

We were told we must come here for the cheeseburgers and thankfully it was close to where our airbnb was that we were staying at for a wedding so we made the stop! We all got the standard cheeseburger because we weren't super hungry and it was definitely a good burger. I will say the prices seemed a bit pricey for what it was considering it is just a burger with a standard bag of chips. It is a busy spot and we had a larger group and sat inside because it was quicker than waiting for a table outside. The inside is definitely old dive bar kind of feels and reminds me a lot of Rockys in San Diego. Definitely a good little spot but the pricing of the burgers was a little high that I wouldn't be dying to go back right away.

All I can say is: if you know, you know! This place has been around forever and is definitely off the beaten path, but it remains a legendary "not-so-hidden" gem in the rural Hillsboro community. We stopped in recently and ordered the smash-style bacon cheeseburger, and it was as tasty as always--those buns are consistently fresh and soft. We also shared an order of their "half-n-half" (fries and onion rings), which had that perfect level of craveable crunch. Of course, you can't visit without a side of their famous "goop" (that delicious mayo/mustard/relish mix); it makes everything better! A few tips for your visit: - The Layout: They have a dedicated adults-only/bar side and a separate family side, so make sure you head in the correct door! - Seating: Inside seating is quite limited and fills up fast. They do have patio dining available, which is much needed (and lovely) during the warmer months. It's easy to see why this is a total go-to for us. If you're looking for an authentic, no-frills tavern burger experience, this is the spot!

Random stop outside of Portland. Really wanted a hamburger. Did not disappoint! Burger was large, and fries were really tasty. Bar like atmosphere inside. But outside was more cute outside seating.

This place is deep in Hillsboro so don't get scared when driving there the road will end. It looks like a locals only place with good atmosphere. I was a bit nervous because it cost me $40 for two burgers and a small fry. They are overpriced! The burger though was magnificent. I got the double cheese burger and it was everything you can imagine. I won't come on a consistent basis due to the price but I will definitely be back.

I have heard of this place for years. We were in town for our son's wedding and came here with family for dinner. It was delicious. Not greasy at all. Their special sauce is like the sweet mayo mustard sauce I remember from places in Portland from my childhood. They have great beer selections too. I would highly recommend coming here. Eat in the adult bar side or out in the patio if it is nice.

Legendary spot! Very Oregon spot with quality ingredients and tasty food! We ordered the burger & fries and it did not dissapoint. Service was friendly and swift so no issues there! Will definitely go back again & a good stop if you are going to or coming back from the coast!

At first, we weren't sure about the setup--whether to wait for a table or order at the bar--but it was so laid-back that we just found a seat and settled in. One of the things I loved was all the TVs on the walls--there were so many showing different games and the news. I'm not a huge sports fan, but it was really nice having that entertainment in the background while my fiancé enjoyed it too. We came mainly for the gambling machines, but everything else exceeded our expectations. My fiancé ordered our drinks at the bar--he got a Modelo and I had a Boneyard--and they were both excellent. For food, we tried the Cowboy Burger with fries, and wow... it was incredible. I was honestly in awe--it was that good! The service was also fantastic. The staff checked in on us without being intrusive, making sure we were comfortable and happy with our food. Overall, it was a relaxed, fun experience, and we left wanting to come back. We'd definitely recommend Hillsboro Bar and Grill to anyone looking for great drinks, amazing food, plenty of entertainment, and a welcoming atmosphere!

The place across the road that's changed its branding from diversity to something more boot-scoot friendly while trading in local bands for line dancing and country cosplay? Yep, that's a hick bar and it's trying really hard to give you a country-fried boutique next door and a drunk-country playlist to convince you of its bona fides. A dive bar, especially a great one, doesn't have to make much of an effort to convince you of its merits. My Place looks absolutely frightening from the outside, to the point that if it wasn't located it Forest Grove, I'd have it pegged as a mob joint. There are two small, high windows, one sign (that isn't for the lottery), and a solid wooden door that looks as if it exists to repel battering rams. And inside? It looks like a place that was designed to ride out Prohibition. Your decor's mostly the bar, woodwork, and vintage coolers, along with some pool tables and lottery machines. It's lit largely by Christmas lights and distributor-supplied neon. It's an old card room turned lottery bar. But amid the cheap pours of Pabst and Widmer and cans of Hamm's and Keystone is a bar menu that puts a town full of far newer competitors to shame. We're what, two breweries in at the other place across the street and nobody on this block has managed a burger better than My Place? This grill and this recipe must be guarded with as many lives as we can throw at them, because this thing rivals OG Stanich's. Meanwhile, between the steak special, the reuben, and the fact that you can get a club sandwich here at just about any hour--and get everything at insanely reasonable cost--I don't know why I keep putting myself though the aggravation of crossing the street to its neighbors. Let the folks in those new tract homes up the way eyeball this place in fear. Let that NO MINORS sign keep diverting their kids to the brewery and food cart of the moment. Every time I walk in here, I feel like I've found Forest Grove's best secret--and if it means sitting with a bunch of over 40s and not particularly caring what the area's parents think about school politics or NASCAR, that's fine with me.
