After shopping, we decided to have dinner at a local tavern. It's a small restaurant, and the tables are quite close together, but not too close. The atmosphere is very pleasant and I really liked the decorations and lots of photos. It was quite noisy - there was a football game on, but my husband and I like this kind of atmosphere - otherwise we would go to sports bars. The food and drinks were typical bar fare, deliciously prepared. The chicken wings were generously sized, and the chicken sandwich with fries was perfectly prepared--juicy, on a crispy baguette. I didn't have time to take photos--only of the dining room--because we were all so hungry we wolfed it all down I just wish the manager would increase the number of staff during peak hours, like during a football game. We had to wait quite a while for someone to come to us with menus, then with our order, and the drinks only arrived 20-25 minutes later, just when we were about to leave. The only thing that saved the situation was seeing how hard the waiters and bar staff worked. Plus, everyone was incredibly polite, with smiles. How could you turn down such hospitality? Please, managers, increase the staff a little during rush hour. We'll definitely be back read more

Sadly we were there a few evenings ago and left disappointed. The place seemed like it needed a good cleaning. The server certainly wasn't friendly. The sandwiches were so thin. We were so disappointed because we like going to Doc O'Grady's from time to time. The only reason for the review is in hopes the owner whips things into shape. Seems like it dropped in all areas. I hope a manager is hired to change things around. read more

I have passed this Place a number of times and always said I would like to stop in and grab a bite. Well, this time I did and boy was I glad I did! The atmosphere was so nice and I felt like I was among friends. The service was impeccable in every way. The wait staff was so attentive to my desires even though they were extremely busy serving other customers. They were more than friendly. We only had drinks and chicken wing but they were some of the best I have ever had. I definitely plan on going back soon and trying some of the other food that they serve. We went here around Halloween, I think it was the day after but the bar was having a Halloween party. We didn't know so we didn't dress up, but we were celebrating our friends birthday (which was on Halloween). For a small, hole in the wall place the DJ was really good. However, I do find it really weird when small bars try to make it overly dancey. There's no space and the atmosphere doesn't really fit. So while there were drunk people in costumes dancing in the small area in the back, we were in the front drinking and chatting without a thought to dance. And for not being in a typical bar area it was a nice to have every one stay in one place other than bar hopping. Our friend knew the bartender and we got amazing deals on the drinks (even a few free yay). read more

Traditional Irish pub with decent beer selection and a-ok service (depending on the time of the day that you go). This is a great place to catch a game and its guaranteed to be crowded on a weekend. I absolutely LOVE the McGeever wings, BEST wing sauce I've probably ever had. The rest of the menu is truly lacking and so many times have I wanted to go here for some brews and bites, but aside from their wings, there's really nothing else that's exciting on their menu and I've had to pass. The place is clean, and the atmosphere is fun, semi divey. Come in for some cold beers at decent prices, TRY the wings, but don't expect much more. read more

This place must have absentee management. There is never food available at night. Tonight, Saturday 1/4/20 I came here to see a live band, and the place was packed. It was about 11:45. Any place with a kitchen and a packed bar would surely have the kitchen open. They are leaving hundreds of dollars on the table. You can tell there is no owner on the scene to see what a lost opportunity it is. I asked a guy sitting at the bar when the kitchen closes, and he said "whenever the cook feels like splitting early". He said it happens all the time. There is a poor selection of different beers, unlike most other local places have, like Croxley's Alehouse. It's just an old man bar that only gets anyone in there on the weekends when they have the band playing. The chicken wings are good if you are lucky enough to catch it when the cook is in. If the spot was in Queens or Brooklyn, I would think it was a front for some other activity going on. I can't see how they pay the rent with the abysmal crowd that they get all week. It's a place to get a drink and watch a game. Nothing remarkable. The issue with the arbitrary closing of the kitchen makes the one star appropriate. read more

Ok, so I've had one too many angry orchards ... The burgers are great 10oz. I had one smothered w. Onions and mushrooms and fries for $11. This local pub is a great alternative to the smash burgers, five guys, in and outs, shake shacks. No crying kids, no teen doing spitballs, just local beer bellies and suburban couples escaping their leafy neighborhood. My new go to for a decent burger and beer. Totally not intimidating and not too sterile. Live music Saturday nite. read more

Went out with the family for dinner and a customer brought his dog in. The dog came up to my 2 year old daughter sitting in here chair and licked her food in her hand. Being that I'm in my early 20's, this place comes off as an old man bar. However it's the closest one to where I live and my friends are always here. Came here for someone's birthday and I actually had a really good time. It was super laid back, classic rock playing in the background. The bartender, an older gentleman, greeted us right away and was attentive to my friends and I the whole night. Patron margaritas hit the spot. I would love to come back and try the food! read more

I visited Doc o Grady's tonight just to have beer. I had the worst experience ever. The bar was very crowded and noisey the bartender pass me several times and i disregarded it. I said to him yo can i get a beer i said it with no disrespect. The bartender jack said to me who do u think u are i saw u before but i dont know u wait your turn he said this very disrespectful. The baddest part was when he said after i dont know u he said and im not going to serve u. Im a African American man being told im not going to serve u in a all white bar was just bluntly racist . It was disrespected i felt like i was not welcomed at this bar. It was also very unprofessional i was embarrassed. I will never go to this bar again i would advise any black male or female to be careful of this place when jack the bartender is working tonight is Thursday december 5 2018 time now is 10:37.This needs to be addressed i just had to write in about this matter so this wont happen to any other black person that visited this irish bar when this young man jack is working he looks about 25 and his hair is curly on the end. read more

Update: the food at Doc O'Grady's has definitely improved, and is actually pretty good. It has probably the best pub food for a few miles around. Doc O'Grady's is owned by group of partners who graduated high school together in the 1980's. I didn't like them back in high school so I see no need to spend my money in hang out when them now. Relatively new bar, yet still an old man bar. The live music on the weekends is WAY too loud and takes up the only space in the bar where you can stand without getting elbowed. The wing sauce is good, which is a sauce recipe taken from the bar that went out of business in the same location. However, two nights that I haven't had wings and got a catfish wrap, I wound up getting food poisoning. Want to go to an old man bar? There are plenty in the area that are better places to watch a game. I'm sick of this place. Do yourself a favor and skip it. read more

I have used Doc O'Gradys for a few years now as a meeting place to meet my high school friends. It has a wonderful pub atmosphere great service with a excellent selection of beers. The food is tasty, I recommend the beef mozzarella sandwich. Just a comfortable place to chill. read more

Nice bar and it's good that they do live entertainment once in a while. I came here when my awesome buddies The Performing Fleas performed. The service was decent - I mean the bartenders are nice enough - but maybe I'm biased because Fleas member Steve truly is the best bartender there and he was not working that night because he was playing. One girl that worked there does not know how to count; her drinks came out way too strong and not tasty at all. The prices are decent in this place. I just wish there weren't so many damn Frat kids there, though I will say as for their manners, they were pretty good. read more

Quite simply stated- THE BEST BURGERS IN LOG ISLAND. Cooked to perfection and the French fries were off-the-hook. Great wait staff- very comfortable atmosphere. The buffalo chicken wings are at the top of the list as well. Also had the Buffalo chicken wrap which was outrageous read more

Great local dive bar. Live about half a mile from here in GCS. Go here most Friday nights and Noreen is one of the reasons. Her personality and Irish accent are real and refreshing. Drinks are a good price and their wings are awesome and I'm picky when it comes to my wings. Big in size and just the right amount of crispy. Good blue cheese too. Hate soggy wings. An excellent place to grab a quick beer after work or meet up with friends and listen to live music. The bar and wait staff are always friendly and willing to strike up a conversation. The bar itself is fully loaded and the bartenders can always mix you up a delightful cocktail. The food is great, and the drinks are priced fairly. There are no women to be found though. You would think it's a gay bar. The owner knows he doesn't have much competition because every establishment in Garden City South closes way too early. If it's 10:00 PM and you want something to eat on Nassau Blvd, it's either this spot or one of the two Chinese spots. Definitely not a spot to mix and mingle like a bar was intended for. Great new bar for day or night! Excellent service and great food. Spacious and nice decor. It's safe to say this is my favorite bar!
