Sunday Funday! Jorge the Chef and Marissa -- one of our favorite mixologists -- along with the entire Blackthorn staff, are simply the best! Excellent service, amazing food, and incredible drinks. Biscuits and gravy with a Marissa Mary... honestly, what could be better?

Stopped in to get a bite. I've sang Karoake here before . The food I have never had. This burger was SIRLOIN!! So flavorful , Sweet Hawaiin flavor bun makes you want to eat it all. Bacon, mushroom, Blue cheese Crumbles I requested on the side, and a side of fries. Fries came out so hot, i told Sarah I should have poured my Bluecheese crumbles on my fries. Fabulous!

    Perfectly poured Guinness.

Visited the Blackthorn for the first time on Thursday night, at about 8:30. The large back patio was lively with fellow patrons. We took seats at the bar and ordered two pints of Guinness and perused the menu. The Guinness was perfectly poured and exactly the right temp. As we looked at the menu, we also noticed that they had specials consisting of pizzas, calzones and a few other options. I tried to order the bangers and mash, but they were out of that, so we ordered the fish and chips and mozzarella sticks. I assumed we would be getting pre-battered frozen fish, but was pleasantly surprised to see the chef rinsing the fish, before hand battering it. I was cautiously optimistic, as I've had pub food from other establishments before that was just okay. The mozzarella sticks arrived first, with marinara and ranch on the side. Perfectly cooked, seasoned well. My only complaint about THE ENTIRE MEAL was that the ranch was a little thin and runny, but seriously, no big deal as it was late and I'm assuming that they maybe were running low and had to thin it out to accommodate our order. The fish and chips arrived, and I instantly knew that this was going to be good. The fries were extra crispy, which is my preference. The fish portions were a good size, and were golden brown. There was also coleslaw included. I know coleslaw is usually sorta just a simple side and mostly an afterthought, but we decided to try it first and OMG! It was super fresh and crunchy, and the dressing was tangy with a hint of sweetness, which we both agree made it some of the best I've had in years. The fish was tender and flaky. And don't get me started on the tartar sauce! It was not some Costco service industry sized prepackaged jarred tartar sauce. It was creamy and lemony and was a great accompaniment to the fish. Start to finish, it was an amazing meal, and the price was insane- just 15 bucks for two sizable pieces of fish , a load of fries and an ample portion of coleslaw. If you're looking for a cool place to have some drinks and grab an AMAZING bite to eat, I cannot recommend this place enough!

I got to visit Keegan's again recently when a friend was visiting from out of town. We had just grabbed dinner and boba and headed out here to hang out for Saturday night. We came close to 10pm and there was a bouncer at the door checking everyone's IDs. The place was relatively packed with several different celebrations and birthdays in their outdoor area that has all the fire pits. They had waiters coming around the outside tables but one could also go straight to the bar to place drink orders. There were several tvs around the bar area and I spotted a pool area towards the back of the outside area. Most of the fire pits seating was taken by large parties but there were some smaller tables, that my friend and I were able to sit at. We didn't get any food but I got to try my old favorite Lemon Drop - which was a nice, refreshing sweet treat for a Saturday night. I did quickly scan the food menu and it's a lot of traditional bar food like burgers and fries. The music for the night consisted of old school rap songs from the 2000s. It seemed perfectly catered to the crowd for the night that seemed to consist of folks in their 30s and a few folks in their early 40s. Overall visiting here took me back to when my friend celebrated her birthday. It's an overall chill spot . The crowd wasn't overly loud or rowdy and everyone was just out enjoying a Saturday night.

Scrooge might say "Bah! Humbug!" to festivities but, in other hand, say "hab gubmuh" to the days and seasons that bring mirth, hanging streamers and disco balls into our life, lest these be left in grayscale. That is why I was attracted to this bar because I wanted to know be drenched in red and pink glamour while all the way celebrating that very special feeling of love. As, soon I entered the door and saw the exaggerated decorations on the roof and on the walls, my immediate thought was "fun," not corny, or please with these hanging hearts and neon lights. Thus this place owns the trip to love land without apology, and I for one, say that this means that the festive goal hoped for hit heart center. I also went relatively early, in terms of bar crowd hours, and was surprised that the place was full to its arteries. Truth be told, that is why, I ticked one star of my overall rating because this place is cute and a vibe, and a worthy scene, but it is also small and packed to the point where folks are proverbial sardines in a tin can. But more on that later, right now, we start with what gave me anchor in place: their pool table. There is no place to sit, amidst the crowd, I automatically assessed. Where can I be to find my place? So I went to the table and played pool. I appreciated that the place had clearly articulated rules and procedures for play, which removed ambiguity and created a climate of respect toward the game, which allows for pool games where appropriate and competitive game play reigns. I managed to order a drink on theme for the night: a Misty Kiss. It was the bartender's suggestion, after I asked for their sweetest cocktail. When she first suggested it, I thought she said minty kiss, and thus when she delivered the drink, I was expecting some kind of shamrock shade. But then I heard the appropriate pronunciation- misty, not minty. I wondered when a literal misty kiss would be appropriate and beautiful? Then I remember scanning a picture book of love pictures, and one was of a woman saying goodbye to her sailor as he shipped of to fight in a world war, and I realized that the sadness in her eyes as she said goodbye was a form of a misty kiss. I took my Misty Kiss and played a game of pool with a guy named Matt. He revealed that he played every day, which explained why I did not stand a chance against a daily player, balance in talent simply did not exist. It was hard to find a spot to place my drink, which tasted swell, and was on brand for the evening, and quite stiff! It was hard to find a seat or a spot for me to call my own. And it was for others as well. I saw people going to the bathroom and needing to allocate themselves in near hunches to avoid the sticks of pool. And out in the crowd, people were huddled on the floor, not sure where to be so they could feel like they had a space of their own and did not bump with others. But there was no way to avoid bumping into others, and it was a mission to find a spot. That is why when I saw a table for two open up, I did a mad dash to an empty chair, like a fool in love who rushes in. It is at the chair where I could not only see but stop and admire the paper roses of the place. As my pictures show, the place truly did not limit itself from embracing the spirit of Valentine's day. For instance, they had this wall of decorations, with hearts, orbs (white, red, pink) teddy bears, and so much more; it was a tapestry hung just right for the occasion. Of course, people wanted to use the wall as the backdrop but with so many people, this too, required a wait and navigate plan. I did help some folks out by taking their pictures. I was not Cupid but in these moments I did hope that my aim was true. In the final analysis, I immensely appreciated the decorations, and all of the folks who dressed for the occasion, because it gave texture and meaning to the decor. But the tight quarters limited the love I can give to this place. However, I do know now where to go, where I want a themed drink, and environment to boot.

She creates her own story line to create her aura & drama. Author John Rechy, if he were straight, would have featured Miz Sandra in one of his novels like the City of Night. Ordered a pint of Guinness & Harp combination, but I didn't call it a "black & tan" in an Irish pub for historical reasons. But Sandra told me they don't have Harp, and suggested I do a Snake Bite instead which is half Guinness & Hard Cider. I opted for just Guinness since I wasn't in an experimental mood. Later, she was kind enough to let me sample a shot of the Strong Bow Hard Cider which was smooth, sweet, acidic with actual sour apple flavour. Next time I'll have to order the Snake Bite. Don't know how exactly Irish Sly Fox is with its grunge-garage rock music. But it's a good, unpretentious, local hang out. The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. Would I say they have the best prime rib around? No. But it is pretty damn satisfying. When here, I always order the Franciscan cut Prime Rib cooked to medium (it's 3/4 pounds), house salad with ranch dressing, and steak fries. They throw in a loaf of sourdough bread with whipped butter. The prime rib is very tender and has plenty of fat. We all know fat equals flavor. The only thing I would change about it, and I keep forgetting to ask the server each time I'm here, is to have it served without the au jus already in the plate. Don't get me wrong. The au jus is fantastic, but when the prime rib is served in a pool of it, the meat becomes soggy. Served separately, I think the prime rib would be even better. In addition to the prime rib, the salad and steak fries are incredibly delicious. The salad is nothing fancy, but very tasty due to the ranch dressing it comes with. Wish I knew the recipe of the dressing. The steak fries pair perfectly with the prime rib. It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The only thing I would say is pretty average is the sourdough bread. Although it comes out warm, I don't get the sense that they're freshly baked. The service here is phenomenal. The servers are attentive, polite, and efficient. Can't ask for anything more from them. If you're looking for a trendy spot with contemporary decor and pretentious vibes, this place is not for you. This is an old school steakhouse with red upholstered booths and soft music playing in the background.
