Who is ready for Cjicken Sh¡* bingo?
    Jamie S.

My first time here. I came because I heard they have chicken bingo so how do ya not try it out? $10 cover charge for the band gave me pause until the place started filling up. You definitely get a different demographic when there's a cover charge- zero rif raft. 100% people hanging out, dancing, drinking, eating free hot dogs, singing along with the band, laughing - just awesome. Ya buy raffle tickets for $1 each, get a ticket with a number. The band keeps playing amazing music and when the chicken drops a grumpy on a number, the number is announced and the person with that ticket gets a prize. Beat time ever! Bartender was awesome. Friendly, professional and on his game. Hot dogs were a great surprise and the place was so clean. Will definitely be back!

Me and some friends originally stumbled across this gem back in 2017 while we were in town to attend a football game. This place is the true definition of "dive" bar. Since that wonderful night in 2017 , we talked about going back. Fast forward to March 2024, and with a few of our group relocating to other parts of the country, we knew we had to make the trip happen. So we took the drive north to San Pedro for no other reason than to spend the night so we could have the Godmother's experience one more time. Although it had changed a little (classed things up a bit if you will), the overall vibe was just that of which we remembered from 2017!! Whenever I hear anyone mention San Pedro, I will automatically think Godmother's!! Thank you Godmother's for two nights that we may not completely remember but will never forget!

Ordered the clam chowder and a hamburger because the menu is really small so that sounded like a good bet. So the clam chowder came out with no clams and plenty of raw bacon. On Halloween people are suppose to dress up as a vampire, Cleopatra- Queen of the Nile- Barney or a…read moredepiction of LA's confusing traffic signs or something else entirely. That is custom, that is tradition and for most it meant to inject fun into life. In my opinion, what maximizes the fun is when a person quips or puns using their custom as fodder for the joke. For instance, on one Halloween. I called my insurance and the person on the phone told me that she was dressed as cat. At the end of the conversation, I was meant to rate her and I said do not worry your service was "purrr-fect." How long have you been waiting to say that joke? She replied. Since the moment she told me she was cat. So when I played and partied with sailors and marines I expected for similar jokes to be made since, in a way, they were in uniform/customs. Like when, me and another civilian played pool with two Sailors they introduced themselves as Diane and Scott, not Officer Sampson and Officer Aguilera. Then we just played a regular game of pool. They did not say things like, prepare for the onslaught of seafaring sailors. So I did not get a chance to say I will sink your battleship as I perfectly aligned my eight ball to a corner pocket. Basically, they were civilians in uniform they were not sailors playing pool. Makes sense, they were sailors on leave so their sea related puns must have stayed on board their ship. Regardless, the party experience with sailors and marines was fire in the hole. And this bar is one of the central places where the sailor party can be felt because San Pedro welcomes them once a year during Fleet Week. It is common sense but Sailors and Marines spend their time locked up, in a ship, or in base, or somewhere else. So when they step to land, the goal must be clear: party with restrained abandon. And this hope encompasses all around, so it is hard to not become a party animal. Imagine that they are the moon, and all around are party-wolves. When they rise, so do the party time howls. I can see this bar becoming a draw for partiers for a weekend. Some people may never come to Crimsin for their cocktails but I hope they come here for the sailors and marines. During this past Fleet Week, I bought a beer for a Marine named Thomas. He also did not say my name is Hightower or Olson or MacDonald when I asked for his name. He still accepted the beer and said thank you for the support. So I may not march in a parade supporting Marines, but still Thomas made me feel like paying for a Marine's drink was showing support for the freedoms that the armed warriors of this country provide. Yes, I know I did not run the SSO but still I was thanked for my support for a Marine. In the grand scheme of things, I accept his gratitude and trust that he meant his words. On a previous Fleet Week, me and a sailor both ordered from a bartender. The bartender ignored me and tended to the sailor. Makes sense, he was the guest of honor. And the sailor treated my drink too. Mad respect. And I hope it is the high seas that taught him to show respect to another for not all wars are won with missiles and bayonets. So the moment not only affords the right to party but it also affords the right to witness the evolution of military culture and how it has arrived to hold people with good values, a good heart, and compassion in their actions.

Like most French bistro they have a shorter but traditional menu, with the usual suspects - onion soup, pate, escargot, charcuterie board, mussels, steak frites, Bouillabaisse - but what drew us in was the duck confit cassoulet. We have eaten cassoulet in Carcasonne, the home of cassoulet, and this was definitely worthy of the name. Gamey, savoury, duck falling off the bone, beans swimming in an umami broth, definitely lip lickingly good. However the vegetarian cassoulet was not as flavourful, it was nice, but needed more garlic, pepper, some herbs or seasoning, a little more oomph. The fennel was delish, but the beans bordering on bland and there was very little broth to dip my baguette into. With a belly full of beans we decided to order dessert because why not! Life is short, eat dessert, c'est la vie. Creme brulee was creamy with a tappingly good sugar crust, and the chocolate mousse had a nice consistency but was overwhelmed by cinnamon, which was a pity. It was definitely worth the visit for the Duck cassoulet, and we will visit again to try the onion soup and moules.

This time, my partner showed the bank transaction proving the payment had been processed, yet he and his brother were still treated with suspicion and singled out. After experiencing this twice, it's hard not to feel like we were being unfairly targeted. The way we were treated was disrespectful, humiliating, and completely unacceptable. It left us feeling profiled rather than treated like valued customers. We will never be coming back, and I cannot recommend this brewery to anyone expecting respectful or professional service.
