I went to the location in Victoria Square in Reno and ordered the Honey Badger Pizza and the garlic-cheese bread stick/squares. i had a beer at the bar while waiting for my food. The place is smaller (maybe seats 20?) in the main area. I's clean and there's a tv at the bar for watching sports. There's also a larger room for overflow or larger parties. . On to the food... 1st visit: Never would have considered putting honey on a pizza but it was a pleasant mix of sweet and savory that I'd eat again. Good crust, good cheese. The hot honey was good too. The garlic cheese bread had its good bites and its meh bites. the cheese was inconsistent (some squares had none) as was the garlic. Baked nicely, but the cook could have done better. 2nd visit: Did their slice special with a beer. The slices took a while because they were fresh to order. Not sure if that's normal or not. Good sized portion and good flavor for a "basic slice" or pizza. It's got some flop, if you know what that means. read more

While visiting the Reno/Sparks area for Hot August Nights, my wife and I wanted to enjoy some thick crust pizza for lunch. Looking at all of the options, we decided to give The Blind Onion Pizza and Pub on Victorian Avenue in Sparks a try, before we headed back out of town. It was an early Monday, but upon arrival, we were greeted by a nice young man. He took our order and was very attentive to get us our cups for water and a hint when the food should be ready. We ordered a side Caesars salad to share and a large 1/2 General's and 1/2 Carnivore Pizza. We took a seat at a table near the main entrance, as we were the only customers there at 10:50 AM. Within minutes, the young man delivered our side salad with two small containers of dressing. The salad was plenty big for two and was quite refreshing on a hot August day. After we finished the salad, our pizza was delivered to our table. He also offered and brought out some ranch dressing and some of their hot honey, which was to die for. The pizza came with Red Sauce on the entire pie and half with Mozzarella, Salami, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Black Olives, Mushrooms, Mixed Bell Peppers & Red Onions. The other half came with Mozzarella, Canadian Bacon, Salami, Pepperoni, Linguiça & Italian Sausage. The crust was thick, spiral shaped dough that was done to perfection. We ate from our respective sides of the pie and it was fantastic. Having enjoyed pizza across the western states, this was near the top of the list. The crust dipped in their hot honey was the bomb! Decided to grab some pizza at Blind Onion before our movie down the street at Cinemark on a weekday. They weren't busy at all so service was really fast. We ordered the small honey badger pizza. It was so good! The dough and the red sauce were honestly my favorite part. The crust of the dough was soft and perfect for dipping in sauce. (I'm typically a thin crust gal so this was a surprise to me) Service was quick and she was really friendly and attentive. I did knock a star off because the restaurant needs some updates. The cracked chairs and overall grunginess of the area we were in just didn't do it for me. I like the Northern sparks location better in terms of the interior. Everything else was great though! I like anchovies on pizza, Blind Onion has anchovie pizza as a special on Sundays as well as open mic comedy hosted by Dead Panda. That's a no brainer for me. Comedy can be hit or miss as it is an open mic with mostly amateurs but the pizza hits hard! There were seats available at the bar and the ambience was cool and the employees were nice and friendly. We both got the special deal of a super slice (actually 2 decently sized sizes) and a soda. We both went with the classic cheese topping. Blind Onion never disappoints and have easily mastered their cook on a cheese pizza. Of course the braided crust is my fav and pairs so well with their signature side of honey. We also got an order of the garlic bread sticks and they were hot, soft, garlic'y, and delicious. No matter what time we call on a Friday night, they always say that they'll have our pizzas ready in 15 minutes, and they always do. Same great feel and service as you'd get at any of the Blind Onion locations in Reno. Knocking off a star because it can be unpredictable whether and where you find parking during a busy time. I set my eye on the mango kart on draft and Hubby and I were looking to share a pitcher when we found out that they no longer did that here. That was a bummer, but we just ordered up from the pint glasses. They were busy with the Hot August night crowd, but they still provided great service and the pizza and cinnamon twists hit the spot! We've been coming here for 20 years. We were the only patrons in the restaurant tonight and sat at the bar, right before Hot August Nights is going to begin. We ordered a pizza and the Greek salad. About 6 bites into the salad there was something in my salad that didn't belong. It was a sanitary wipe. I pulled it out and brought it to the attention of the 2 young employees. We could see the girl in the back who was preparing the food as she pulled out the wipe, held it up and started laughing. We pointed it out that it was not funny and asked if we could please speak to a manager. We were told there was no manager available. When we asked for a refund we were told they could not give us one without the managers approval. When we asked for the employees name that was laughing she said- "I don't know my name" . Coming from a food industry family, we know the employees should be trained to make things right and not laugh about something like this. Not once did anyone apologize or ask how they could make it right. We were eventually refunded the cost of the salad, but not the cash gratuity in the jar. As we were leaving, the female employee preparing the food still seemed to think this was amusing. The lack of a trained professional food service worker is needed and unfortunately we will not be back. read more

BUT if you give me this pizza with its twisted crust and honey I will sit there pick it apart and eat it. Never in my life have I ever seen honey on the table with your pizza but it's good. Citrusy beer like Blue Moon goes well with. I tried ordering an old fashioned and I...I did not get that. Stick with wine or beer. Italian chopped is my favorite salad there. The Greek, Breathbuster and chicken parm are our favorites. It's like $25 for a large pizza but you won't be disappointed. Dare I say. Eat the pizza with the honey. And extra garlic.
