This is my favorite spot for lunch (with beer of course) of late. The outdoor seating is so relaxing and lovely, and pretty quiet. My friend and I came here several times after a hike, and we really enjoyed the meal, beer, and the atmosphere. The server Jacob P. is our favorite. He's really kind and attentive. Food-wise, the cob salad is fresh and satisfying, the Pan Asian Noodle Salad is excellent, lettuce wrap goes really well with beer. I'm sure we'll frequent here for after-hike lunch! read more

We're visiting from out of state and had an amazing experience here! I ordered the Great Basin Burger with the Wisconsin cheddar soup and the Nevada Gold beer. Everything was absolutely delicious. The burger was cooked perfectly, the soup was rich and flavorful, and the beer paired so well with the meal. A huge shoutout to our server, Anthony, who really made the experience even better. He was super helpful in guiding us through their beer selection and made great recommendations. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. I absolutely love this place! The outdoor seating is perfect in the summer. Anthony was my server and he was so friendly and helpful! Another restaurant I've come to many times over the years, and surprisingly have not reviewed! I've been visiting this Great Basin location for well over 20 years and am happy it's still here. It's my go to spot whenever I'm in Victorian square and one of my favorites in the summer when you can sit on the patio, especially if there is some live music playing. On this particular visit, my wife and I came in for a late lunch. It wasn't very crowded and we were seated quickly and our server was attentive throughout the meal. Everything was great, I ordered the French Dip with fries, and my wife ordered the burger with fries. I will say, adding the extras on the french dip is not recommended for me as it was harder to dip an I think it actually took away from the goodness of the french dip experience. Not a negative, just a tip! Great Basin is always here when I need it, and it's a staple of the Reno Sparks area with their beer and food. Look forward to the next visit soon! read more

Popped in for dinner. I reviewed their menu before going. Great selections. We were able to be seated quickly even though it was busy. The wait staff was friendly and energetic. I opted for the Mac n cheese topped with pork belly. Fabulous choice, paired with the bread. So cheesy and delicious My husband chose the Basin burger and fries. The burger was so juicy and cooked to perfection. The noise level was ridiculous. Couldn't even have a conversation without having to repeat myself. We were seated next to a party that thought the entire restaurant needed to hear their conversation. Note to self. I'm coming back on a different day and time. This Great Basin used to be a regular hangout amongst my girlfriends and I in our early 20's. Since then everyone has gotten married and had children. Those meet ups are usually only around the holidays when schedules permit, but we still love an occasional lunch here. My most recent visit was last week for lunch. Colton was our server and was awesome. He was just the right amount of attentive without hovering. I love their nachos here and knew with my entree I had to order the smaller portion to make room for my pumpkin beer and patty melt. They were just as I remembered them. I'm glad we ordered them without meat. All were tasty, but I felt the cowboy burger was a little too saucey and my patty melt was over cooked, but not inedible. Good option to eat at any night of the week! Our server was really efficient and had a good sense of humor. All drinks and meals were 100% accurate and came out nice and hot. I had the 50/50 burger. It was so good! Had a perfect charcoal flavor and cooked to perfection. The side of garlic fries were okay. They just tasted like regular fries to me though and the bottom of the dish was pretty oily. I'm sure others love them though. The restaurant is self was tidy. They were actually fairly busy on a Sunday evening. Everyone was taken care of it seemed but there was a bit of a wait to be seated due to not having a hostess. It was only recently I espied, off hwy 80, a magnificient tribute to the mining history of Nevada, 36' tall Last Chance Joe. It was Joe that brought me and my luncheon ladies to Victorian Ave for a visit. A few feet away we happened upon Great Basin Brewery and dined. In a nutshell, service, food and ambiance were fantastic. I ordered the chipotle chicken pasta and the chef didn't hold back on the chipolte's in the sauce. The portion was so large I was able to enjoy leftovers for 2 more meals. Please note, if you'd like to try a couple of their beers before ordering one, ask for a "taste" not a "sample", as tastes are free. My husband and I met friends at Great Basin to watch the band New Wave Craze. Hadn't been here in a long time but so glad we went. It was a hot day. The band played on the stage outside. There are table and chairs set up so we can eat and enjoy the band. My husband ordered a guava cider soooo refreshing and not too sweet. He ordered a French dip and fries for his meal. I never get excited about a French dip but this was the best French dip we both had. I ordered a chili beer. Just a little kick not too spicy and refreshing. For food I ordered an ahi sandwich with fries. The ahi was cooked perfectly. The sandwich comes with slaw and wonton chips and brioche bun. Delish!!! We truly enjoyed both the meal/drinks and band. I came here with my family after a day out at the river. I had the Chicken, Bacon and Avocado Sandwhich on a Pretzel Brioche with French Fries. Everything was so yummy! My sandwhich had a special sauce that was so tasty and the fries were crispy, just the way I like them. It was a perfect choice. Our Server was also excellent. Hubby loved the burger and said it's the best burger he's ever had and seasoned to perfection. The nachos were very good and the stuffed jalapeño's were delicious. I tried the spicy jalapeño beer. It was okay I'm not a big beer drinker and the heat was nice but for me the underlying flavor was just like a Budweiser. There are no porters or ciders. They do have wine and a bar though. I wish there was a bit more meat in the carne asada tacos, but they were still flavorful. Loved the spaciousness of this location. I have written several reviews before, but I must tell you how much I loved the Drunken Calms! They were super spicy and a ton of jalapeño in the broth with chopped onions and tomatoes. The flavor was outstanding. The calms were not gritty or tough. The dish came with the homemade bread which paired nicely with my meal along with a new Smash Beer Brew, I ordered, it was nice to get the first pint on happy hour before 6pm. You save yourself a couple dollars. My husband on the other hand ordered the large shepherds pie, it didn't seem large we did ask the server and he said that it was. My husband took his first bite, it's cold... no not on V-Day. We flagged down the waiter & he took it back to the kitchen and then it came out piping hot. Why can't the dish come out like that in the first place, to be honest the place wasn't that busy. We decided not to have any desert and we had another tasty beer instead. For food, we ordered the crispy fish tacos and the Brewmaster Platter. The fish tacos were just alright, and I could probably skip this dish next time. However, the Brewmaster Platter is a must-try! It's a selection of various meats, sauces, mustard, pickles, and garlic Icky bread. The portion was massive and the price very reasonable. My wife and I have been coming here for years (really decades), mainly for the craft beer, which is usually excellent. Every now and then we get something to eat. On our last visit we both ordered the french dip. I got the basic version and she got the upgrade with the beer cheese, green onions and peppers. I would recommend getting the upgrade because mine was a little bland and the au jus didn't really help. It definitely looked better than it tasted. My wife ordered the garlic fries and they weren't anywhere near as good as they were back in the day. We did order the Willy Dillys (fried pickle spears) for an appetizer and they were fantastic. read more

Originally we went to Gambi's across the highway. They completely ignored us. Super shocking but it is what it is. It worked out for the best because my gosh they're happy our food here is so good. Not to mention the beer which is spectacular. And to top it off we had the best server ever. He was great with excellent suggestions and a great sense of humor. Usually leave at least to 30% tip too. I am a big fan of their outdoor, dog friendly seating at this location. The service is hit or miss. Sometimes we get a very attentive waiter/ waitress and sometimes we don't. The last time we came our order was wrong, but we didn't see the waiter until he brought out our check. Not a big deal, but just not what we ordered. The reasons we come back is for their smoked Memphis dry rub wings and beers are always on point. They also offer a 10% Veterans discount which is nice as well. read more
