Our family and friends were in town for the weekend so we were looking for a nice family friendly spot to hang at. We decided to check out the Block on a Friday evening. Parking was easy and accessible. It is located in a nice area in downtown Petaluma. From the outside, the venue looks inviting and lively from the decorated outdoor lights. There was a live band performing in the patio section which is always cool. Tables and sitting areas with fire pits and heat lamps surround the patio. Unfortunately some fire pits were not working. There are only 2 food vendors available to everyone. There is a Mexican spot that was serving tacos, quesadillas, and churros. The other spot was an American vendor that was serving both bbq and pizza. I only tried the churros and they were good especially with the Dulce De Leche sauce. My cousin tried the bbq food and he said it was ok. It would be nice if there were a couple of more extra food vendors. There was a full bar that also served craft beer on tap. Our drinks were refreshing and crisp. Large picnic tables were available for big groups. Heat lamps were all over the area where the bar was at which was great since it was chilly that night. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall we enjoyed our experience at the Block. It is definitely a great place to hang out at with your group.

The "buffalo melt" with no cheese, small piece of chicken, and pesto which isn't supposed to be on it. On sliced bread, not a French roll.

Ambiance: family friendly, great music, great vibes. Definitely a great place to sit and chill with a drink and a friend. Drinks: not bad! Go for happy hour if you can. I recommend the blackberry mojito. Food: sooooooo..... not great. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich which was supposed to be on a French bread roll. It came on sliced white bread, the smallest piece of chicken, and it looks like they messed up my sandwich because it came with pesto, too. Definitely not listed that way. My husband got the pesto melt... cheese not melted and no pesto. It was more like a Cesar chicken sandwich which isn't even on their menu. No flavor and completely wrong. Their wood fired pizza is the way to go - got it for our daughter and it was decent. Service: I'm not sure if it's because it was a weeknight, but they only had one person working the bar, no one bussing dishes, and no one to order from or ask questions to. All of the ordering was done by QR code. It just didn't feel very inviting. Not my preference - especially for the prices. The sandwiches were $16 (definitely not worth the price) and the drink was normally $13, $5 off for happy hour from 5-6.

What a wonderful time at the Open Mic every Tuesday ~6:30-9:15pm-ish!

A great gathering place! It's a casual indoor venue with an outdoor feel, due to both barn-sized doors are kept open. The breeze was welcome on a hot night. Dillon the bartender is very sweet, helpful, and attentive. One week I opted for the food truck of Mexican food, and another week I had The Block's Lamb Gyro Pizza with tzatziki sauce. Both were delicious. I happened to be there for the Tuesday eve open mic. The group was so welcoming, and well-organized by the 3x album singer songwriter Domenic Bianco. It was so much fun!

I visited The Block for the first time a few weeks ago to listen to a friend's band. My experience was good, however, when it was time to leave, my car was gone. It was parked in the creamery next door but there was no signage in the spot where I parked saying not to park there. Well It turns out, Ace Towing hauled my car away and charged me a whopping $650 to get it back! THAT plus being stranded late at night and not in my hometown was a horrible experience. Needless to say, If the owner of The Block doesn't do more to warn patrons - there is no way I will visit this establishment again. I was 1of 5 others that night who also got towed while visiting their establishment.

So many things I love about The Block!! 1. Perfect place to meet up and bring your DOG!!! Whenever we go (me and my beagle) we meet other dogs and dog lovers! See pics! 2. Pizza Zimas Elote pizza (Mexican street corn) - crema cheese - hot sauce - corn - sooo good!!! 3. Trivia night Thursdays! Fun and I'm not good at it but I try!! 4. $10 mojitos is one of the best prices in town!

I came to the Block for a friend's graduation celebration. We came on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too busy when we first arrived. There are many tables and a few places to get food/drinks from. I opted for a lion's mane mushroom taco and cauliflower and potato taco. The stand was pretty busy and they were making tortillas by hand so there was a bit of a wait. The tacos themselves were pretty good! My favorite was the mushroom one. The ingredients tasted very fresh and the salsa complimented it nicely. I also got a side of chips (not pictured) which were very crisp. Live music started playing later in the afternoon which was nice. The ambiance of this place is pretty cool. It's a great place to hang out and get a drink. The food prices are a bit high, but I imagine these are set by the vendors and not by the Block. I will definitely come here again!

New beets salad. Full $12. This is a side (half) for $6!

Met with a friend to check out the Block Petaluma, and the ambiance did not disappoint. It wasn't overcrowded even though it was the weekend! There were plenty places to park, and sit in the beer garden. Indoor/bar area had heaters, but we chose to get a little sun outside. Zimi's Pizza is a cute little walk-up window where you order, and they have hella bomb wood fire pizza and calzone options. I chose veggie calzone -- it was warm, cheesy, filled with artichokes, mushrooms, and bell peppers! The staff were friendly and the vibes were nice. Great place to catch up with friends! What's not to love!

Enjoying a Greyhound ($10) on a busy Friday eve at The Block

The pandemic has produced a huge pent-up demand for dining out. I see it every time I'm out in my neighborhood. In early evening, parklets are physically overflowing with diners and drinkers and all manner of people relishing an escape from their home. So it was silly of me to show up somewhere, early on a Friday evening, and expect they'd have any seat at all let alone one I'd like to dine and drink from. So I moved on. The Block was choice number two but forevermore, perhaps it should be choice number one. I admit to liking this sort of beer garden/bar/food truck/live music/dogs- allowed sort of venue. I can walk in and find a seat despite a crowd. I can stand in a line and return to my seat with a drink (then later, with food). I can lay eyes on so many adorable dogs that it's amazing I stayed seated at all. And I can hear good, live music played by a band with four horn players and watch people dancing to that music. I could've danced too but: I had a seat. The Block is a pretty self-service fair but staff do a great job of cleaning up the used cups and plates when people leave. The Block offers about 50 different beers, each with enough descriptive info listed that one can actually determine what one wants to drink while waiting in line to get that drink. The line for cocktails is shorter and a really nice Greyhound ran a reasonable $10. Four food trucks were on site during my visit (Mexican, Greek, Pizza, and BBQ) and I had it on good authority that the Mexican and the Pizza outposts were the best of the bunch. I told my son I went here and he recalled coming about 1 year ago on a rainy day (there is covered and non-covered seating) when only a handful of others were present. It's not like that now, and with all of this pent-up demand, this place is hopping. But it's got a nice, happy, and welcoming vibe. I really enjoyed The Block.

As a combined beer garden and pizza place, it features a huge outdoor area with plenty of spaced-out seating and a dedicated play area for kids, including foosball. The food is a major draw, with pies made by SF's own Pizza Hacker. It is easily some of the best pizza in the Bay Area; we tried several varieties, including the Margherita, Pepperoni, and the Ohio. They even offer a good quality gluten-free option, which was great for my buddy. Their drink menu is equally diverse, featuring an excellent selection of beer, wine, and mocktails, ensuring there is something for everyone. While the setting is excellent, the service can be a bit spotty. The restaurant gets extremely busy, and at times it feels like the staff is simply stretched thin. We found the table servers to be much better than the cashiers at the windows, who could be a bit unfriendly. One cashier even insisted he had confirmed our order correctly when I had to correct what was actually brought to us--definitely a case of poor active listening skills. They would have received 5 stars if it weren't for the cashiers taking orders. Overall, if you go in knowing it leans heavily toward a family-oriented crowd and can get very crowded, it's a wonderful place to enjoy great pizza and the outdoors. Just be patient with the parking, as it can be a bit tricky to find a spot.

We ordered fries and a veggie plate to start and the fries that showed up were covered in paprika and soggy like they were baked. Extreme premium prices for beyond mediocre food. The hummus was laughable and ranch was awwwful. We ordered a following round of food with chicken strips, a burger and more fries. This time the fries were completely different. They were deep-fried and crunchy (definitely came from a bag) but a completely different french fry from what we received on our first order. Still the same foul Ranch and the ketchup that was out in squeeze bottles was beyond disgusting it was thin, sour and bright red with tin flavor. Chicken strips were fine, they 100% came from a bag and were consistent with hundreds of other restaurants that purchase the same ones. We asked the server if we could have our burger cut in half and they snapped that they were too busy to do that. The people next to us and across from us had burgers that were split in half... And the burger was a complete joke. Their "special sauce" is just cheap mayonnaise mixed with some of that cheap ketchup (that is probably from a huge can from the top corporate food distributor.) People listing that this is one of their favorite burgers are really missing out on some experiences in life, or they're eating them after their third double IPA... It's a beautiful place, great yard area. But the food needs to open a new document and start again. I can't believe how much it cost for how horrible it was. I'm in shock.

Got there around 3pm and was told that a table for two would be about a 30 minute wait, so it was not as bad as we thought it would be, considering that the whole parking lot (which was probably the only downside; it being made of gravel and without distinct parking designations making finding a spot incredible difficult and annoying) was full. The inside vibe was great, with tons of people drinking/eating and having a good time. When we got seated, we ended up ordering just a few oysters and a 3pc fish and chips. The oysters were pretty good and fresh, with a great vinaigrette on the side to pair with them. The fish and chips, however, were the obvious stars of the show. The fish were nice and golden, with a very crisp texture, and more importantly large and generous. The fries were nicely seasoned and plentiful. The fish was really tasty (you can choose the type of fish depending on what they have on hand, and some cost extra between $2-$10. We chose the standard option for the day: Rockfish), easily one of the better fish and chips I have had - just an incredibly simple, but well executed dish. While the tartar sauce was a good pairing, the real standout pairing was Hook Fish's own carrot habanero hot sauce with the tartar sauce and the oyster vinaigrette. I have never had something like a carrot based hot sauce, but it really works by contrasting the spiciness of the habanero with a slightly sweet carrot undertone. Strange, but it gave the classic fish and chips a unique twist that sets it apart from the competition. While eating we saw tons of different dishes fly out the kitchen as well, such as poke burritos, large portions of chips and salsa/guacamole, and fish tacos. After the experience we had that day, we will be forsure making another round back to Hook Fish to try some of their other options. Their fish and chips are a must.
